For the stepless regulation of the energy consumption of electrical heaters, especially hotplates, certain bimetal regulators In bimetal regulators for electric heaters, especially hotplates, the heat energy supplied to the heaters is continuously regulated depending on the ratio of the on and off times of the control contact. As a rule, a heated working bimetal and a compensation bimetal that compensates for the influence of the ambient temperature are provided in such controllers.
These two bimetals are in most known designs with their one end attached to a rotary part, while the other end of one bimetal with an adjustment device and the other end of the other bimetal with a snap spring switch works together so that it is from the bimetal unit in The time intervals corresponding to the switch-on and switch-off ratio are opened or closed, whereby a stepless regulation of the power consumption of the electrical heater is achieved.
These known bimetallic regulators have, however, since the setting, the bimetallic and the snap switch assembly are arranged one behind the other, a relatively large overall depth, which has a disadvantageous effect in terms of the limited space available for stoves. In the bimetallic arrangement of these bimetallic regulators, the two bimetals are also parallel to one another or one above the other.
When producing the bimetal arrangement, however, the two bimetals are first firmly connected to their rotating part by welding or the like and only then is the winding applied to the bimetal to be heated. Since the two bimetals then have only a relatively small distance from each other, the loading of the working bimetal is cumbersome and time-consuming or can only be carried out with a special winding machine, which is perceived as extremely disadvantageous.
Furthermore, with this arrangement with two superimposed bimetals there is still the disadvantage that the unheated bimetal, i.e. the compensation bimetal is influenced by the radiant heat of the heating winding of the working bimetal, so that only incomplete compensation of the ambient temperature takes place in this bimetal arrangement.
Therefore, to eliminate the above-mentioned disadvantages, bimetallic regulators have also been known in which the two bimetals do not lie one above the other with their surfaces, but lie next to one another in one plane. In a known embodiment of this type, the arrangement is such that one ends of an adjusting lever and the two bimetals are fastened to a rotating part, while the other bimetallic ends bent at right angles are articulated to a switching lever acting on the snap switch.
Due to the angled bimetallic ends connected to the gearshift lever, albeit articulated but firmly connected, not only a sensitive structure but also an imprecise mode of operation of the bimetal regulator results.
These disadvantages also occur in another known bimetal regulator, in which the two bimetal strips consist of a single M-shaped bi metal strip, of which the outer legs are attached to a fixed support part and the inner leg is connected to a rotating part Axis of the setting lever and a sensing lever that is adjustable with this and acting on the snap switch can be pivoted. Such an arrangement also has the additional disadvantage that its structure is relatively complicated.
The invention relates to a bimetal controller for the stepless regulation of the energy consumption of electrical heaters, in particular hotplates, with a bimetal arrangement influenced on the one hand by a setpoint setting device and on the other hand acting on a snap switch and provided with a heated working bimetal and a compensation bimetal, wherein the Bimetals lie next to each other in one plane and are attached at one end to a rotating part.
It has set itself the task of largely eliminating the above-mentioned disadvantages of the known bimetal regulator in the union union by a simplified production, calibration and assembly, increasing the accuracy and by reducing the cost of components. According to the invention this is achieved in that the free end of the working bimetal interacts via a switching lever with the snap switch and the free end of the Kompen sationsbimetalls with the setpoint setting device and that the axis of the switching lever is movably supported against the train of a spring in the pivoting directions of the switching lever is.
To avoid overcompensation of the ambient temperature with the bimetal regulator, a rigid sheet metal part can be arranged under the compensation bimetal, which can be pivoted about its axis together with the two bimetals and an adjustable threaded pin at its free end located at a distance from the compensation bimetal wearing. In order to achieve a favorable spatial arrangement, the snap spring can be positioned across the bimetal unit.
In the drawing, an embodiment of the subject invention is shown, wherein the bimetal unit is shown in Fig. 1 in the raised position and in Fig. 2 for the sake of clarity in the folded position.
The bimetal energy regulator has a working bimetal 2 provided with a heating coil 1, a compensation bimetal 3, a cam disc 4 that is in effect on this and a snap spring switch 5 lying transversely to the bi metals 2, 3. The two bimetals 2, 3 are fastened by means of screws 6, 7 to a carrier part 9 connected to the axis 8. The axis 8 is mounted in a bearing bracket 10.
A provided below the working bimetal 2 ner shift lever 12 with an adjustable pin 15 is rotatable about an axis 13 which is movably mounted in fork-shaped bearings 14 in the pivoting directions of the shift lever 12 against the train of a spring 16, the spring force of which is stronger than that of the snap spring 5. Due to the fork-shaped bearing points 14, easy assembly and convenient replacement of the shift lever 12 is possible, please include. The switching lever 12 influenced by the working bimetal 2 acts on the snap spring 5, which is mounted in cutting bearings 17 and has a contact that cooperates with a counter contact 19.
A rigid sheet metal part 11 with a U-shaped cross-section, which is arranged below the compensation bimetal 3 and whose free end located at a sufficient distance from the compensation bimetal 3, has an adjustable threaded pin 21, is also attached to the support part 9.
To set the electric heater, for example an electric hotplate, to a desired heat value, the cam switch axis 22 and thus the cam 4 cooperating with the Kompensationsbi metal 3 is brought into a position corresponding to the desired setpoint using the switch knob 23. The Ar beitsbimetall 2 then rests loosely with its free end on the pin 15 of the shift lever 12. In Fig. 1, the bimetal unit 2, 3 is drawn slightly raised so that the rigid sheet metal part 11 is visible in it.
When the heater is switched on, the working bimetal 2 heated by the heating coil 1 is bent downwards. The compensation bimetal 3 counteracts this downward movement in the sense that compensation of the ambient temperature is achieved.
By bending the working bimetal 2 downwards, since it rests on the snap spring 5 without pressure, the bimetal unit 2, 3 swivels in the opposite direction of the clock until the end of the Kompensationsbi metal 3 is supported on the cam disk 4.
After the set target value corre sponding heating of the working bimetal 2 from the heating coil 1 is due to the support of the compensation bimetal 3 on the cam 4, the end of the working bimetal 2 press on the shift lever 12 so that the snap spring 5 is actuated by this, which suddenly their contact is separated from the mating contact 19. Both the electrical heating of the hotplate and the heating coil 1 of the working bimetal 2 are then interrupted.
The working bimetal 2 will thus cool down and, after a certain cooling time, will again assume the starting position in which the snap switch 5 is closed, so that the heating and cooling process takes place again in the manner described above.
If for any reason the bimetal 2 should bend even further when the snap spring 5 rests on a stop of the insulating plate 18 or is rotated from a high to a low cam position when the cam is at operating temperature, the axis 13 of the switching lever 12 is against the tension of the spring 16 lifted from the storage locations 14. The force of the working bimetal 2 then does not have an effect on the snap spring 5, but on the tension spring 16 in the bearing points 14, which is stretched. The lifting of the axle 13 is facilitated in particular by the fact that the inner edges 24 of the fork-shaped bearing points 14 run obliquely outwards.
In this way an overpressure protection is achieved, i. H. the controller parts can never be stressed so far beyond their elastic properties that there is a risk of damage to these parts. Of course, a leaf spring can also occur instead of the Zugfe of 16. Furthermore, the spring 16 can act on the shift lever 12 in a different manner than in the exemplary embodiment.
In the event that the Kompensationsbime tall 3 bends beyond the allowable amount, ge reaches its end on the adjustable threaded pin 21 of the rigid sheet metal part 11, which then prevents further bending of the Kompensationsbimetalls 3 and thus overcompensation.
The described bimetal energy regulator is therefore not only a simple and economical production, low space stress, easy assembly, a clear and clear structure, simple adjustment, increased working accuracy, but also such a way of working even in abnormal operating conditions of the controller ensures that the risk of damage to controller parts is largely avoided.
