Verpackungsverfahren
Packaging process
The invention relates to a packaging method using a tubular packaging material, for example made of plastic such as polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride, which are particularly suitable; but cellophane (registered trademark) and paper and other known packaging materials can also be used. The process basically refers to continuous packaging.
The packaging material consists of a tube which, in its flat state, is provided with folds running in the longitudinal direction and with slits in the transverse direction, the distance between which determines the length of each individual package.
The method according to the invention is characterized in that the tube is fed continuously or discontinuously and that the slot of a packaging unit is caused to open while the packaging unit is still connected to the tube, after which the material to be packaged is placed in the opening thus formed is inserted and the packaging unit is separated and sealed. The slot can be made to open by blowing air or by means of mechanical devices.
It is advantageous to use a tube which is joined together in the transverse direction at each slot so that each packaging unit forms a pocket, the free end of each pocket thus formed being opened before filling. The hose can be fed in such a way that each bag is transported with the bottom forward in the direction of movement and the bag is caused to open by blowing air into it in the direction of movement of the hose. The tube can also be fed in such a way that each pocket is transported with the bottom backwards in the direction of movement and the pocket is caused to open by blowing air into it against the direction of movement of the tube.
Even if it is possible to carry out the packaging in the manner indicated above, without the tube being joined at each slot, and then to effect the closure or the pocket formation, the method can in particular use a tube that has pockets from the start or containers is provided. Because the packaging units obtained in this way are connected to one another by those parts of the tube which are not cut through by the slits, when a packaging unit is moved away from the packaging location, the next unit is automatically fed into the opening and filling position. After opening the slot, the packaging can be carried out discontinuously or continuously, manually or automatically.
It is associated with great difficulties to inflate a packaging unit of a plastic tube because the planar packaging unit has to change from the two-dimensional shape to the three-dimensional one when it is inflated. If, however, a tube is used which is provided with one or more longitudinal pleats and the slits extend over one or more of the pleats, the slits open without any noticeable tapering and the material can be easily filled .
Such hoses are the subject of our Switzerland.
Patent No. 377715.
The method according to this invention is illustrated below with reference to the accompanying drawing, for example.
Show it:
1 shows a container band which is suitable for use in packaging according to the invention,
Fig. 2 shows a section along the line II-II in Fig. 1 and
3 schematically shows an apparatus for carrying out the method according to the invention.
The container tape shown in Fig. 1 and 2 consists of a flat tube, for example made of poly ethylene, which is provided with two folds 1 and 2, which run in the longitudinal direction of the tube.
These folds do not cover the entire width of the hose, but one half 3 of the bellows formed by folding is narrower than the other half. The flat tube is provided with transverse weld seams 5 at a suitable distance from one another. In the vicinity of and parallel to each weld seam, a slot 6 is provided which extends almost to the longitudinal edges of the hose. The slot 6 extends over the fold, so that the entire smaller bellows half 3 is cut off.
The device according to FIG. 3 consists of an endless belt 10 which is fed via end rollers 11 and 12 in the direction indicated by the arrows. The container tape shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, which is designated by 13 in FIG. 3, is wound onto a roll 14. A line 15 from a fan 16 opens at one end roller 12.
During packaging, the belt 10 is set in motion, and the container belt 13 is unwound from the roll 14 and guided over the belt 10. Then the first container is loaded with an object or filled with the material in question. The container tape is wound on the roll 14 in such a way that the transverse weld seams 5 come to lie in front of the slots 6 of each container on the tape 10, viewed in the direction of movement of the latter. The belt 10 is set to the desired speed and, depending on the case, the container belt 13 is guided past the mouth of the line 15 by the blower, the container being opened by the air stream and then the material to be packaged - on the drawing in the form of Piece-shaped objects 17 shown - is inserted into the container opening.
As a result of the loading of the belt 10 from the filled containers, the container belt is pulled off the roll 14.
At the end of the belt 10, the containers are torn from one another with a simple manipulation and in a suitable manner, e.g. B. closed with an automatic welding machine.
The method can of course be combined with automatic feeding, which packs the material in the form of piece goods or material or liquid dosed in terms of weight or volume.
