Description

Skin and hair care products Cosmetic skin and hair care products are used to maintain the normal condition of skin and hair. A large number of agents have been proposed for this purpose, which generally consist of carrier substances in the form of creams and lotions to which active ingredients such as vitamins, hormones, fungicides and the like are added. In order to achieve the desired cosmetic effects, such as softening the skin, preventing it from becoming brittle and protecting against external attacks, it is necessary to use a mixture of different substances.

It is also necessary in the production of suitable hair care products that are intended to increase the suppleness of the hair, that facilitate combing of the hair, especially when wet and in particular after permanent wave treatments and hair coloring, and that give the treated hair a natural shine, to use a larger number of substances. Another disadvantage of such preparations is that the carrier substances have to be used in relatively high concentrations in order to achieve the desired cosmetic effect.

In most cases, in order to achieve favorable cosmetic effects, various disadvantages have to be accepted, such as stickiness of the hair and skin, insufficient protection against external influences, hindrance of skin breathing and much more.

It has now been found that these disadvantages can be avoided by using a skin or hair care product which, as a component, is a triol of the general formula
EMI0001.0013
where n is an integer from 1-3. The above general formula includes 3,7,11,15-tetramethyl-1,2,3-trihydroxy-hexadecane (dihydro-dihydroxyphytol), 3,7,11-trimethyl-1,2,3-trihydroxydodecane and 3, 7-dimethyl-1,2,3-trihydroxy-octane, of which the first-mentioned compound is preferred.

The favorable properties of the triols proposed according to the invention, which determine their particular suitability in cosmetic skin and hair care products, consist primarily in the fact that the compounds have great adhesion to skin and hair, do not stick and grease and those treated with them Skin or hair feels soft and velvety.

The compounds form an invisible, skin-friendly cover layer that protects against external influences and is water-repellent but does not hinder skin breathing. The compounds are also very stable and can be incorporated into any emulsion, ointment preparation and lotion. They can also be combined with active ingredients such as vitamins, hormones, fungicides and bactericides.

The concentration of the triols in the skin or hair care agent according to the invention is expediently 0.1 to 10%. The desired cosmetic effects, however, are usually achieved even at low concentrations, such as 0.1 to 3114.

Example 1 To produce a facial tonic, 0.5 g of dihydro-dihydroxyphytol and 0.5 g of panthenol are dissolved in 49 g of 96% alcohol and mixed with 50 g of water. The solution obtained can be perfumed as required.

Example 2 By mixing 0.5 g of dihydro-dihydroxyphytol, 0.5 g of panthenol, 10.0 g of a 1% strength polyacrylic acid solution in water, 0.1 g of triethanolamine and 88.9 g g of water result in a facial milk that can be perfumed as required.

   Example 3 1.0 g of dihydro-dihydroxy-phytol, 1.0 g of 3,7-dimethyl-1,2,3-trihydroxy-octane, 1.0 g of oxethylated oleyl alcohol, 10.0 are mixed g of 96% alcohol and 87.0 g of a 1 / o alginate solution in water, resulting in a hand lotion that can be perfumed as required.

Example 4 1.0 g of dihydro-dihydroxyphytol, 1.0 g of 3,7,11-trimethyl-1,2,3-trihydrox-dodecane, 1.0 g of 3,7-di- Methyl-1,2,3-trihydroxy-octane, 0.5 g panthenol and 26.5 g 96% alcohol are mixed and, if necessary after adding perfume, with 90 g of a commercial propellant gas mixture such as chlorinated or fluorinated hydrocarbons , filled into pressure atomizer containers.

The spray preparation obtained can be used as a skin care product.

Example S 3.0 g of polyvinylpyrrolidone, 0.5 g of dihydro-dihydroxyphytol, 0.2 g of panthenol, 46.3 g of 96% alcohol (or isopropanol) and 50.0 g of water the mixed and possibly perfumed. The cosmetic preparation he obtained is particularly suitable as a hair care product for setting hair and making it easy to comb.

   Example 6 0.3 g of 3,7,11-trimethyl-1,2,3-trihydroxydodecane, 0.3 g of 3,7-dimethyl-1,2,3-tri - hydroxy-octane, 0.5 g panthenol, 0.2 g N, N'-bis [1-methyl-3- (2,2,6-trimethylcyclohexyl) propyl] -N, N'-dimethyl-1, 6-hexadiamine bis (methochloride), 49.0 g of 96% alcohol (or isopropyl alcohol) and 50.0 g of water.

The hair tonic obtained can be perfumed as required.
