Fan heater The invention relates to a fan heater for ventilating and / or heating rooms, for drying objects, which has a drum rotor driven by an electric motor with forward curved blades and heat conductors arranged in the flow.
For portable air jet generators designed as small devices, only axial fans have been used so far. Typical devices of this type are the so-called fan heaters. However, the known devices suffer from a number of disadvantages. As with any device equipped with a propeller, the air that escapes is highly turbulent and swirled. The high jet turbulence leads to strong mixing with the room air immediately surrounding the propeller. As a result, the jet temperature decreases very quickly.
The circulation flow is also perceived as unpleasant due to its draft effect, since it cools instead of warming. Another disadvantage is the low beam impulse, which means that the range of the beam is very small. You also need expensive heating conductors with extremely large surfaces, as the special heat load can only be low at the low air speeds. Another very major disadvantage is the unpleasant noise development of the known propeller fans, in which the peripheral speed, which is decisive for the volume, is about ten times as great as the exit speed.
Finally, the known fan heaters require relatively powerful motors, since the efficiency of the axial fans in the Reynold number range (less than 8.104), which is under discussion for small devices, is extremely poor. The disadvantages listed, in particular the cause of drafts and the high level of noise, occur not only with fan heaters, but also with convectors, air conditioners, table fans, ceiling fans and air showers.
According to the invention, these disadvantages are eliminated in that two guide walls parallel to the axis of rotation of the drum rotor are provided, each of which at its point closest to the periphery of the drum rotor maintains a minimum distance from this periphery of 0.5 to 3 times the radial extension of the blades Direction corresponds, and that these guide walls, together with the housing end walls perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the drum rotor, form the outlet channel and the fan housing to which the motor that drives the rotor is attached.
The air speeds in such a jet generator are in certain areas greater than the circumferential speed of the rotor. As a result, in electrical heating devices, on the one hand, a heating conductor with only a small surface and with a small size, that is to say also with a low price, can be used. Other heat exchangers can also be made smaller than in known, comparable devices.
Another advantage of the blower is the extremely small dimensions. For this reason, they are particularly suitable for small hand-held devices, such as air showers, for which low noise levels are also of great importance. Due to the low speed of rotation and the inventive housing design, the noise is so low that the devices are often practically inaudible. The high pressure factor of these fans also allows dry or wet filters to be connected upstream in room air devices.
Since the velocity profile of the flow corresponds in a first approximation to the velocity profile in a potential vortex, it is advisable to arrange the heating elements so that the decisive part of the heat is dissipated through the fast flow tubes near the vortex core.
Using the figures, the invention will be explained in more detail, for example.
Fig. 1 shows a schematic cross section through an air jet generator according to the invention perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the drum rotor.
2 to 10 show different heating devices for different purposes using fiction according to trained drum rotor.
In the figures, schematic sectional views are shown almost entirely. With the exception of FIGS. 2, 6 and 9, the sections are in planes in which individual streamlines run. The flow profile of the throughput medium is indicated schematically in the sections. The lines correspond roughly to the isotachians, i.e. H. the lines of equal flow velocity.
In Fig.l a cylindrical drum rotor 1 is shown in cross section, which is rotatably mounted in a housing 2. The cylindrical rotor 1 has two closed end faces. The blades 3 extend between the closed end faces of the drum rotor 1, the inner edges and outer edges of which lie on the inner and outer surfaces 7 and 8 of an imaginary hollow cylinder concentric to the axis of rotation 0. The blades 3 themselves are curved forward in the direction of rotation of the paddle wheel.
If a vane cylinder of the type shown is set in rotation without any external guide surfaces or guide bodies, a vortex field is formed with a certain selection of the vane parameters, the vacuum center of which is close to the periphery 8 of the drum rotor and which rotates with the drum rotor 1 and whose position is not stable. The position of the vortex field is stabilized by means of a guide body 10 which extends over only a small circumferential area 8 of the blade grid and separates the suction side S from the pressure side P.
The guide body 10 is arranged so that between the periphery 8 of the blade grid 1 and the wall 11 of the guide body 10 arranged opposite this periphery, a channel is formed through which part of the pressure-side flow outside the blade grid can flow back into the same and thus a Part of the vortex core flow in the vortex core area V forms. According to the invention, the distance between the wall 11 and the periphery 8 of the blade grid is 0.5 to 3 times the blade dimension in the radial direction. The channel can, seen in the direction of rotation 5 of the blade grille, both converge and also be designed in parallel, as well as diver.
The main function of the channel is that part of the pressure-side flow is returned to the rotor due to the negative pressure that forms inside the blade grille, thereby forming a vortex core that separates the suction side from the pressure side. The suction and pressure sides are therefore not sealed by fixed guide walls, as is the case with known cross-flow fans, but by the throughput medium itself.
A guide wall 9 is arranged opposite the guide body 10, which together with the wall 12 of the guide body 10 forms an outlet channel on the pressure side. The formation of the outlet channel on the pressure side can be changed according to the type of use of the fan or the pump.
An entry area S and an exit area P are determined by the wall 9 and the guide body 10, which together extend over a central angle of approximately 330 in the illustrated embodiment. The entry area S extends in the radial planes by a central angle u of approximately 180; this central angle is therefore greater than the central angle ss over which the exit area extends.
The wall 11 of the guide body 10 extends only over a circumferential area of around 20 to 40, so that a small vortex core area V is obtained between the inflow and outflow of the flow tubes near the vortex core and the space available for the throughput flow is large . The wall 9 is at a distance from the periphery 8 of the blade grid 1 at every point. At the point 13, the distance between the wall 9 and the periphery 8 of the blade grid is smallest. According to the invention, this distance is 0.5 to 3 times the blade dimension in the radial direction. The distance increases steadily in the direction of flow.
A simple fan heater with a fan according to the invention is shown in FIGS. 2 and 3. FIG. 2 shows this fan heater from the front, while FIG. 3 shows a section along the line 111-11I in FIG. The drum rotor 1 rotating in the direction of the arrow 5 sucks an air stream through the wall part 22 of the housing 23, which is provided with slots and openings. The wall part 29 of the housing is closed and corresponds to the guide wall a in FIG. 1.
Likewise, the guide body consisting of the wall parts 21 and 20 corresponds to the guide body 10 shown in FIG. 1. The wall parts 20, 21, 22 and 29 of the housing extend along the cylindrical rotor 1 and are firmly connected to the housing end walls 24 and 24a . The rotor 1, the blades 3 of which are attached to the end walls 6 and 6a, is rotatably mounted with stub axles in the end walls 24 and 24u of the housing.
The drum rotor is preferably driven directly by the motor 28 via a cardanic linkage (FIG. 6). As shown in Fig. 3, in the outlet diffuser of the fan, which is formed by the wall parts 21 and 29 and the end walls 24 and 24a, there is a heating element 25 which is movably arranged at the end of a bimetal spiral 26.
When the heating element is in the position shown by the dashed lines in the outlet channel, it covers the diffuser wall 21, whereby an outlet channel with parallel walls formed by the heating element 25 and the housing wall 29 is formed. In this position, the air is not heated and emerges from the outlet duct as a parallel jet with a long range. As a result of the arrangement of the housing walls according to the invention, if the blade parameters are correctly selected, as described in connection with FIG. 1, a vortex flow is formed in the interior of the blade grid which almost corresponds to that of a potential vortex flow.
If the heating element is now switched on and brought into the position shown, the eddy flow inside the blade grille 1 is disturbed, the fast flow tubes deflecting and slowing down and the air flow decreases. As a result, the high level of air warming required for heating is achieved, while at the same time the speed of the diverging jet that emerges from the heater decreases sharply with increasing distance from the heater. The bimetal spiral 26 ensures that the heating element 25 is sufficiently cooled by the air flow.
If the heating element becomes too hot, the bimetallic spiral turns the heating element in the clockwise direction, so that the flow rate increases again and the cooling of the heating element increases. This automatically regulates the heat transfer from the heating element to the air flowing through it.
The shifting of the heating element from the position shown with dashed lines to the heating position can take place on the one hand by pivoting the heating element itself from one position to the other at the same time as the power is switched on, but it can also be done by that, when the heating current is switched on, the bi-metal spiral automatically rotates the heating element through the action of the heat in the position shown in the counterclockwise direction.
If the power is switched off again, the heating element automatically returns to the position shown in dashed lines in the clockwise direction. The device shown in FIGS. 2 and 3 can also be equipped with an immovably arranged electrical heating register which is fixedly arranged on the end walls 24 and 24a of the housing.
4 also shows a fan for warm and cold air in cross section, in which the wall parts 42 and 49 extending parallel to the axis of rotation of the blade grille 1 are fixedly arranged between two end-face housing walls 44, only one of which can be seen is. The wall part 42 is, like the wall part 32 in FIG. 3, slotted or perforated. The air is sucked into the fan through this wall part 42.
On the inside of the wall part 42, which closes the housing 43 with the exception of the outlet channel 46 on the sides, a filter cloth or a filter layer 47 is arranged that cleans the air conveyed by the fan. Electrical heating coils 45 are arranged in the outlet channel, by means of which the air can be heated. The fan itself is designed according to the principles explained. In FIG. 5, an air conditioning system is shown in cross section, which is used to heat a room, where in a blade grille 1 according to the invention, the air is conveyed through an air outlet duct 51 into the room.
The air can be drawn in from a space closed off by a filter 52 and from an intake duct 53 which is connected to a fresh air supply, for example to the outdoors. The mixing of the room air with the fresh air that is sucked in through the channel 53 can be regulated as desired by means of a flap 54. In the outlet channel of the rotor heating pipes 55 are arranged, which are surrounded by ribs 56 extending parallel to the plane of the drawing. The air that flows into the space between the ribs 56 is guided by guide walls 57 which form outlet diffusers.
The guide walls, which stabilize and guide the flow and of which only the guide body 50 is shown, are designed according to the principles as described in connection with FIG. 1.
6 to 10 show three portable devices for generating a hot air jet. The device shown in FIGS. 6 and 7 in longitudinal section and in cross section along the indicated cutting lines is a hot air shower. The motor 63 for driving the drum rotor 1 is located in the handle 60 of this hot air shower and is located in a housing 61 which is firmly connected to the handle 60. The rotor is rotatably supported by an axle stub in the outer end wall 62 of the housing.
The other end of the rotor is articulated in a cardanic manner on a driver 64, which is located on the motor shaft, so that a different alignment of the axis of rotation of the rotor 1 and the drive shaft of the motor 64 cannot have any effect. As is shown in Fig. 7, the housing has on the suction side an interrupted wall part 68 through which the air flows in, whereas the wall parts 65 and 69, which delimit the outlet channel, are tight.
The design of the housing is again such that the circulation flow explained in connection with FIG. 1 can develop in the interior of the blade grille. The extended outlet channel of the housing is subdivided into individual nozzles 68, which directly adjoin the guide body 67 which stabilizes the position of the vortex field, so that the fast flow tubes MF directly radiate into these nozzles. The nozzles converge towards their front end, where a jet effect is achieved. In the outlet channel from the housing, a heating coil 66 is arranged in front of the point at which it divides into individual nozzles 68, over which the air jet conveyed by the fan is guided.
Another embodiment of a hot air shower is shown in FIG. A handle 80 carries the fan housing which surrounds the rotor 81 and which has an elongated outlet duct 82 in which the heating elements 84 are arranged. The housing 82 is preferably arranged to be pivotable with respect to the handle part 80. In front of the heating conductors 84, a rotatable plate 88 is arranged in the outlet channel 87, which plate can be pivoted about the axis 89: This plate 88 is used to increase the degree of turbulence of the exiting from the outlet channel 87 flow.
The housing 82 is in turn designed in such a way that a guide body 83 'stabilizing the position of the vortex field in the interior of the blade grid and a guide wall 86 arranged opposite this guide body results.
In FIGS. 9 and 10, a further form of a hot air shower according to the invention is shown in longitudinal and cross section along the sectional lines indicated by Roman numerals. The housing 91, which has a short, cylindrical shape which widens slightly at the location of the outlet duct 98, is attached to a long stretched handle 90 in which the drive motor 92 for the runner is located. The motor 92 and the rotor 1 are coaxial with the handle is arranged. The rotor consists of a circular disk 94 on which the stub axle, which is driven by the engine, is attached. The blades 93 are fixedly arranged on this circular disk.
The other end-side delimitation of the circulation space is provided by a tight wall 99 firmly connected to the housing, on whose side facing the rotor supports 95 are arranged which protrude into the circulation space in the manner shown. Heating coils 97 are attached to these carriers 95. The lateral housing wall parts are in turn designed in such a way that they form the guide body 100 stabilizing the vortex field and the guide wall 100a arranged opposite this guide body. The other side part 96 of the cylindrical housing part is perforated, so that the air can be sucked in through this part.
