<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
le mécanisme de remontage n'entre pas en fonction et en conséquence que la came 16 ne tourne pas ;

Date timepiece We already know date timepieces in which, when winding the mainspring, a secondary spring is also wound up which, as soon as the winding is completed, relaxes and produces the instantaneous displacement of the date. These parts have the drawback that if the watch is wound several times a day or if it is forgotten to wind it on a given day, the date indications are completely false; furthermore, the device is not applicable to self-winding parts.
On the other hand, timepieces are known in which the hour wheel itself winds a secondary spring which it allows to relax when the date is to be changed; but this arrangement has the drawback of using, at that time, part of the energy of the mainspring, which disturbs the smooth running of the part.
The invention defined by the claim overcomes these two drawbacks. The spring which actuates the date is well wound by the part winding device but remains dependent on the hour hand, so that it only relaxes when required.
The accompanying drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the present invention.
Fig. 1 is a schematic plan view of the face of the plate adjacent to the dial, the latter being removed.
Figs. 2 and 3 illustrate the operation.
In the drawing, 1 represents the mainplate, 2 the date dial formed by a rotating crown, the center of which is on the axis of the watch; 3 is the hour wheel which controls wheel 4 making one revolution every twenty-four hours. 5 is the barrel of which 6 is the ratchet meshing with the pinion 7 connected to the crown, if the winding is done by hand, or to the winding mass, if it is done automatically; the winding device, being foreign to the invention, will not be described in more detail.
The crown 2 has internal teeth on which acts one of the ends of the spring 8, the other end of which is fixed to the plate. In fig. 1, this spring is armed and is held in this position by the lever 9, itself immobilized by a lever 10, forming a lock; 11 of which is the axis of articulation on the plate and which has at its end adjacent to the lever 9 a roller 12 engaged in a notch 13 of this lever.
At its other end, the lever 10 has two shanks 10a, 10b, on which the pin 17 fixed to the wheel 4 can act, the shank 10a being formed by a spring-loaded pawl. 14 is a third lever articulated on the plate at 15, one of the arms of which is engaged with a ramp 9a of the lever 9 and the other arm of which bears on the periphery of the cam 16 fixed on the return 7.
Fig. 1 shows the position of the various organs a little before midnight; at this moment, the pin 17 of the wheel 4 will attack the tail 10a of the lever 10, the roller 12 of the latter will then come out of the notch 13 and the spring 8 will relax by advancing the crown 2 by one unit (see in fig. 2).
During the following day, the winding device, actuated either automatically or by hand, will turn the cam 16 which, by means of the lever 14, will return the spring 8 to the winding position; at this moment, the lever 10 under the action of its spring 10c will go up along the ramp 9b and engage again in the notch 13, and it will thus maintain the lever 9 and the spring 10 in position of armage; it may exceptionally happen that during the day
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
the winding mechanism does not come into operation and consequently the cam 16 does not turn;
it is then the pin 17 which, coming into engagement with the tail 10b, will bring the lever 9 and the spring 8 back to the winding position a little before midnight (see fig. 3).
When the reassembly is done at the. hand, by a device which also resets the time, it may happen, when setting the time, that the wheel 4 turns in the opposite direction to the arrow indicated in fig. 1. In this case, the pawl 10a will release when the pin 17 comes into contact with it and this pin will not move the lever 10.
It may happen, during the winding function, that the cam 16 stops in the maximum winding position as shown in FIG. 1. If this period corresponds to that of the tripping at midnight, the lever 9 must be able to act under the effect of the spring 8 despite the action of the lever 14. II. For this, it is sufficient for the lever 9 to pivot in an oblong hole 9c of the plate. Thus, by moving the pivoting center, the function can be performed and the lever 9 will be returned to the normal pivoting position by simply pressing the spring 10c and the roller 12.
