40 Gew A/o, beträgt.
Men- genvenhältnis von x :

Fuel for Otto engines It is known that highly knock-resistant fuels can be obtained if certain lead compounds are added to gasoline. It is also known
that you can get high-knock-resistant, unleaded fuels if you add other compounds to the gasoline, such as
B. benzene or other aromatic compounds, especially alkylbenzote, adds. The use of diisopropylbenzene as an anti-knock agent is also known (see British patent specification no. 763181).
However, a mixture of o-, m- and p-diisopropylbenzene was always used.
It has now been found that fuels containing diisopropylbenzene for gasoline engines are particularly knock-resistant if they are practically free from o-isomers. As we found
In contrast to the o-isomer, the m- and p-isomers of diisopropylbenzene have particularly good anti-knock properties. The following table shows the individual ratios. The measurements were carried out according to the
international standards according to GFR research and engine method according to DIN regulation 51756. The values are designated as RON and MON or mixed RON and mixed MON. The middle boilers,

Sopropylbenzene, which is practically free of o-isomers, can be carried out by known processes (cf. British patents Nm, 763181, 763183, 764338, 763179 and 763182).
A mixture of m- and p-diisopropylbenzene in which the isomer ratio of m- to p-diisopropylbenzene 25: 75 to 75: </ B is expediently used for the preparation of the fuels > 25 o / o by weight, preferably around 60:
Is 40 wt. A / o. In addition, other isamex mixtures can of course also be used, whereby excellent results are still obtained,
if. either only the m- or only the p-isomer is used. The particular advantage of using an isomer mixture within the limits given above is not only the achievement of a high octane number,
but also. better gasability.
Preferred fuels are those which also contain benzene and other alkylbenzenes. You can use either pure benzene (C.Hs) or a benzene that still contains a portion - e.g. B.
up to about 60 Vol.fl / o - of other aromatic compounds, such as. B. toluene or xylene, such as @es z. B. is present in coke oven benzene, or as it is z.
B. by selective solvent extraction from certain fractions of the fractions resulting from the catalytic reforming process can be won. When using fuels containing benzene, the. Knock resistance of fuels,
which is already significantly increased by the addition of benzene, further increased greatly by the addition of diisopropylbenzene free of o-isomers. It has been shown
that in a gasoline-benzene mixture, one part by volume of the m- and / or p-diisopropylbenzenes is equivalent to two parts by volume of benzene in terms of the improvement in knock resistance obtained,
so that in a mixture of x parts gasoline and y parts benzene while maintaining this. Quantity ratio of x:
y assigned octane number the benzene content can be reduced by 2 z parts and the gasoline content can be increased by z parts if z parts of m- and / or p-dsisopropylbenzene are added.
The following table explains these relationships:
