An- seinem dem- Bmennerkopf. 11. abgewendeten Ende ist .im Zwischenstück 16 eine Staudüse 17 eingelötet. Durch Bemessung der Länge und des Durchmessers der Düsenbohrung 18 hat man es in der Hand;
So kann im Zwischenstück 16 die Bohrung mit einem Gewinde versehen sein, wodurch sich die Oberfläche derselben vergrössert und eine günstigere Wärme abgäbe an das durchfliessende Schutzgas ermöglicht. Dies bedeutet aber eine verbesserte Kühlung;
Device for welding with an electrode that can be shielded by a protective gas. It is known that the arc is a non-melting, z. B. off. Existing tungsten electrode has an extremely high thermal load.
In order to protect the workpiece and the electrode, the arc must therefore not pass through the electrode without first flushing it around. Protective gas ignited. But also, after the arc has been extinguished, the supply of protective gas should be maintained until the temperature of the electrode has dropped to a value at which oxidation of the electrode can no longer occur.
It has now been proposed to arrange a shut-off device in the form of a tap in the handle of the burner. However, this device does not guarantee: a further inflow of protective gas after the end of the welding process or during a welding break.
According to another proposal, shielding gas can continue to escape from the electrode during a welding break, but no measure is taken to keep the amount of gas escaping under control.
The purpose of the invention is to ensure the supply of protective gas even after the burner has been shut down for a certain period of time, which is sufficient to effectively prevent oxidation of the electrode; on the other hand, it should be ensured that unnecessary amounts of expensive protective gas do not leave the burner. If necessary, commissioning of the burner without a supply of protective gas or continued operation if the protective gas supply fails should also be prevented.
The subject of the present invention is a device for welding with an electrode which can be shielded by protective gas in a welding torch, a shut-off device being provided in the welding torch for preventing the supply of protective gas from a storage container, which device is characterized in that
that the organ is designed to be self-closing and interrupts the gas supply when an actuating element is released when the burner is shut down, and that the burner on; a pressure-dependent Sehalter and / or a memory for the inert gas is connected to a secondary line ;. soft with. the supply line for the shielding gas:
at one point behind the self-closing organ.
An exemplary embodiment of the device according to the invention will be explained in more detail below with reference to the drawing: The welding torch designated in its entirety by 1 - shown in longitudinal section is connected to a power source 4 by means of a power cable 3.
It has a connection 5 for the supply of the protective gas through a line 6 from a storage bottle: 7. A second connection B enables the connection via a line 9; of the distillery. 1 with a storage vessel 10 and with. a pressure-dependent switch 33.
The burner is air cooled and due to its construction. highly resilient; without the elastic hose section in the handle, which can withstand low thermal loads, as well as its components to be touched by the operator being excessively heated.
Burner head 1-1 is the carrier in the usual manner by means of a collet 1.2. Electrode held 13 and the ceramic nozzle 14 and is surrounded by insulation 15. Furthermore, the burner head is welded to an intermediate piece 16.
which is drilled through in the longitudinal axis and serves to supply the welding current as well as the protective gas:
On his dem- Bmennerkopf. 11. The end turned away is. In the intermediate piece 16 a nozzle 17 is soldered. By dimensioning the length and the diameter of the nozzle bore 18 you have it in hand;
bring about a throttling of the protective gas supply to the desired extent. In any case, the throttle causes a sharp drop in the pressure of the protective gas. With the intermediate piece 16 is a connection piece 19 .in electrical connection that u. a. has the task of the intermediate piece 16 and thus the electrode 13 the idle or
To supply working voltage from the power cable 3 soldered to it on the right. For this purpose and also for the rapid dissipation of heat from the intermediate piece 16, the connection piece 19 is generously dimensioned and made of a material that conducts heat well.
Furthermore, a double-armed lever 20 is rotatably mounted on the connection piece 19. One arm 21 of this lever partially protrudes with a plate 22 over the surface of the grip sleeve 31 and is under the action of a compression spring 23. The other arm 24 of the lever has a hook-like bent free end which has a cutting edge 25. This cutting edge acts under the influence of the spring 23 on an elastic cal, z.
B. made of rubber hose section 26 in the supply line 6 for the. Inert gas, and it can be seen that when the torch is not in use, it runs in the position of the arm 21, unaffected by the welding torch, of the double lever 20 with the hose section 26 forms a reliably acting shut-off device for the supply line.
The connection piece 19 is also provided with: a longitudinal bore 27, the one behind the connection. Pipe 30 to the shut-off device 20-26, but opens into the supply line for the protective gas in front of the nozzle 17. This longitudinal bore leads to the storage vessel 10 via the already mentioned connection 8 and the secondary line 9.
The mouth 2 of the pipe 16 in the supply line for the sweat gas is located in a nipple 28, which on the one hand with a union nut 29 on the intermediate piece 16 and on the other hand on the pipe 30 in; the supply line is connected.
The tube 30 leads to the hose section 26, which, as mentioned, is part of the shut-off element, which acts automatically and leads to the connection 5 and the line 6.
The burner finally eats with the outer sleeve 31 made of plastic, which merges at the front into the insulation body 15 for the intermediate piece 16 and the burner head 11. This insulation body can, for. B. consist of asbestos cement and is not fully on the parts to be isolated. It is provided with openings 32; so that the air circulation cools the burner head or
of the intermediate piece is achieved-.
The rising or falling pressure between the nozzle 17 and the shut-off element is used to open or close a control circuit via a pressure-dependent switch 33 on the storage vessel 1-0, with which the welding current, but also others with the Welding related processes can be controlled.
For example, the high-frequency current additionally required for welding aluminum can be controlled with this; but also, purely. mechanical processes related to welding can be monitored by the switch 33.
The supplied protective gas reaches the connection piece 28 and via the supply line 6 and the opened shut-off element 20-26. thus in front of the stagnation nozzle 17. From here, part of the gas flows through the secondary line 9 into: the storage vessel 10, while at the same time another part passes through the nozzle 17 with a strong pressure drop to the burner head.
As soon as the pressure in the storage vessel 10 has reached a certain th value, the operating current is switched on by the pressure-dependent switch 33, and the arc can now be ignited while flushing with protective gas.
If the burner is put down by the operator, the shut-off element 20-26 prevents the further supply of protective gas from the storage bottle 7. Now sufficient protective gas flows out of the reservoir 10 via the secondary line 9 and the stagnation nozzle 17 into the burner head 11 and thus prevents the electrode 13 from oxidizing.
The welding current was this when it fell. Pressure in the memory 10 has already been switched off.
Other measures are also possible on the burner to improve it from a thermal point of view.
Thus, in the intermediate piece 16, the bore can be provided with a thread, whereby the surface thereof is enlarged and a more favorable heat would be given off to the protective gas flowing through. But this means improved cooling;
In this way, a warm shielding gas improves the quality of the weld. Furthermore, the burner head 11 and the intermediate piece 16 are made of a material of low thermal conductivity; so that considerable amounts of heat are radiated from the torch's arc tube and cannot reach the handle.
The arrangement of the nozzle also helps to improve the heat conditions at the burner, because the nozzle, made of a material that conducts heat well, quickly transfers heat to the hole in the nozzle and releases it to the protective gas and also cools the expanding protective gas works.
Serving as a handle sleeve 31 and the actuating part 22 of the shut-off element are made of elec trically insulating material; usually made of plastic.
Finally, the handle length of the burner can advantageously be reduced if, instead of a two-armed lever for the self-closing valve, a one-armed lever is provided.
This is also permanently loaded by a spring similar to the spring 23, wherein a clamping ring presses the hose piece 26 in the supply line 6 for the protective gas against a fixed stop. This measure enables a particularly short design of the valve,
Since the second lever arm is omitted: It remains to be mentioned that the device according to the invention can of course also have a burner with water cooling, in which case the current-carrying parts of the burner are usually made of copper and the electrical insulation consists of plastic.
The invention is also applicable to inert gas welding devices with consumable electrodes, in which case the collet is replaced by a contact tube made of copper and the burner cap is replaced by a wire feed hose.
In the latter, the welding wire is pushed in from a wire reel at the same melting rate by means of a wire conveyor device.
The purpose of the invention can take place by means of. the one described in the example. Combination of a pressure-dependent switch with an accumulator can also be achieved by means of a pressure-dependent switch alone or by means of an accumulator alone.
In the first case (pressure-dependent switch), there is no actual post-flow of protective gas, but the welding current is interrupted when the pressure drops, i.e. at a time when protective gas is still present on the electrode.
In addition, it is also ensured that the welding current: is or can only be switched on when a certain protective gas pressure is present and switched off when it falls below this value.
In the second case (storage), when the clamping member 24, 25 is closed, the electrode is protected by the protective gas flowing in from the storage 10.
