Im folgenden wird ein Ausführungsbeispiel der Erfindung anhand der Zeichnung näher erläutert. Hierin bedeuten: Fig. 1 eine Aussenansicht einer Schweisspistole gemäss der Erfindung; Fig. 2 eine Seitenansicht, bei der eine Griffschale bzw. eine Hälfte des Schaftes oder des Gehäuses der Pistole abgenommen ist; Fig. 3 eine Einzeldarstellung, in der das Gehäuse, der Lauf und das Leitungssystem sowie andere Teile der Pistole gezeigt sind; Fig. 4 eine Einzeldarstellung, die verschiedene Teile des Laufes und des Leitungssystems einer Schweisspistole nach der Erfindung zeigt; Fig.5 einen Längsschnitt durch einen Teil des Laufes, wie es durch die Schnittlinie V-V in Fig. 7 angegeben ist; Fig. 6 einen Längsschnitt entlang der Schnittlinie VI-VI der Fig. 7; Fig. 7 einen Querschnitt gemäss der Schnittlinie VII-VII in Fig. 5;
Fig. 2 bis 8).
Fig. 3).
Fig. 2).
Fig. 10).
Welding gun for inert gas welding The invention relates to an arc welding gun for arc welding with an electrode consuming an inert gas atmosphere.
A welding gun of the type mentioned is built in its shape according to a normal gun and comprises a barrel and a handle (shaft with barrel jacket and handle) or a housing. The barrel opens into a nozzle and is provided with channels for the circulation of a cooling liquid, preferably water, which lead to and from the nozzle, and a channel for supplying the protective gas to the nozzle, whereby an inert gas is usually used as the protective gas, but Another suitable gas, for example carbon dioxide, can also be used. The barrel of the welding gun also contains guide means, usually a guide tube, for feeding the welding electrode to the nozzle.
The shaft or the housing of the welding gun represents a Umhül ment or a jacket that serves to accommodate the barrel, and which contains the means wel che the barrel supply the coolant and lead it away from him, and also the barrel Feed in protective gas. The housing also serves as a handle for the welder and contains a switching mechanism for switching the welding current on and off, the shape of which is similar to that of the usual trigger on pistols.
The known welding guns have a rela tively complex structure, and the disassembly and assembly of such a gun is a difficult and time-consuming process.
The invention is based on the knowledge that a significant deficiency of the known welding guns is due to their construction and in particular to the fastening of the electrode guide tube. This guide tube is made of copper or another material of high thermal conductivity ago and is usually screwed into the barrel with a Ge thread. It has been shown that when using welding pistols of the known type, the guide tube is often damaged by arcing and has to be replaced. In addition, the arc heat transferred by the guide tube causes overheating and damage to the fastening device for the guide tube.
Renewing the burned guide tube at its tip is time-consuming, thus delays the welding process considerably and then, if the fastening device for the guide tube is damaged, dismantling and thus a major repair of the welding gun is necessary.
In the known welding guns, the lines for the cooling liquid and the protective gas are at least partially attached outside of the barrel and the housing or the shaft of the gun. It has been found that such welding guns are cumbersome and therefore difficult to handle, since the external dimensions of the supply lines represent an obstacle when handling the gun. It has also been found that the housings of such welding guns become so warm after relatively short welding times that it is difficult to continue guiding them by hand.
When welding with welding guns of the general my known type, of which we are talking here, it is necessary to precisely control the electrode burn-off ratio or the electrode advance speed during the welding process. As is well known, the electrode burn-up ratio determines the distance between the electrode and the workpiece - i.e. the arc length - and thus also the welding current. Accurate control is important in most cases, but is especially important when the welding current is supplied by a constant voltage source.
In the known welding guns, there is a difficulty in controlling the electrode advance rate. This difficulty is essentially due to the fact that the control device for the electrode feed is mounted on a control panel to which the welder must first turn around to change the setting if such a change becomes necessary. Since it is not possible to weld and at the same time to set the electrode feed on a control panel arranged next to the welding point, the setting only has to be made cursory and on a trial basis and cannot be carried out with the accuracy that is required in many cases.
The welding gun according to the invention is characterized by the fact that, for better handling and better cooling, paths for the cooling liquid and the supply of protective gas are guided through the barrel and handle and arbitrarily adjustable switching and control means for the welding before and during welding current and the electrode feed are attached.
In the following an embodiment of the invention is explained in more detail with reference to the drawing. 1 shows an external view of a welding gun according to the invention; 2 shows a side view in which a grip shell or half of the shaft or the housing of the pistol has been removed; Fig. 3 is an individual view showing the housing, barrel and conduit system and other parts of the pistol; FIG. 4 is an individual view showing different parts of the barrel and the line system of a welding gun according to the invention; FIG. Figure 5 is a longitudinal section through part of the barrel as indicated by section line V-V in Figure 7; FIG. 6 shows a longitudinal section along the section line VI-VI of FIG. 7; 7 shows a cross section according to section line VII-VII in FIG. 5;
8 shows a cross section according to the section line VIII-VIII in FIG. 5; 9 shows an elevation view of part of the guide tube fastening device; 10 shows a section through the trigger-like trigger (pressure switch) and its locking device, and FIG. 11 shows a basic illustration of an arc welding device with a welding gun according to the invention. The main part of the welding gun shown in the drawing comprises the barrel B, a housing H and a line system T.
These main parts are connected in a solid unitary structure to form a device that is similar to a pistol.
The barrel B consists essentially of a nozzle system N, which has a tip 11 which tapers both on the inside and outside and is firmly connected to the nozzle body 13. The inner slope 34 of the tip 11 widens outwards. This extension is important insofar as it reduces the possibility of a short circuit between the electrode Z and its guide tube (current transmission tube) GE and the nozzle 11. The outward expansion also has the effect that no turbulence can form in the gas stream flowing through the nozzle. The nozzle body 13 has the shape of a cylinder with a wall which is hollow at 15 essentially over the entire length of the cylinder and in which the inner surface 16 widens outwards.
The hollow part 15 terminates in an annular opening 17 at one end and into a thicker end 19 on the other side. The thicker end 19 has openings 21 and 23 which are in communication with the cavity 15. These openings are preferably arranged offset by approximately 90 with respect to the axis of the nozzle body 13. The nozzle body widens outwards, as already mentioned above. The tip 11 consists of a tapering ring-shaped part 31 which adjoins the part which is to be expanded outward. This annular part is dimensioned so that it can be fixed in the opening 17 into which the hollow part of the nozzle body 13 runs out, in such a way that it is inserted between the shoulders 33 forming the open end of the nozzle body.
The funnel-shaped outwardly expanding interior of the tip 11 and the nozzle body 13 has the same expansion coefficients at 16 and 34, so that a smooth surface for the gas flow is guaranteed.
The barrel also contains an intermediate piece E, which has the shape of a flange-mounted cylinder, between the outer walls of which a plurality of hollow elongated projections in tubular form 35, 37, 39 and 41 are formed. For reasons of symmetry, four of these projections can be arranged offset by 90 with respect to the axis of the intermediate piece E; However, only two of these charges, namely those labeled 35 and 37, are necessary. These projections 35 and 37 are arranged on the circumference in such a way that they correspond to the space between the openings 21 and 23 in the nozzle body 13 and are connected to the corresponding openings 43 and 45 in the flanges 47 and 49.
The flanges 47 and 49 are also provided with breakthroughs 51, which are between the two breakthroughs 43 and 45 and through which the intermediate piece E is fastened or screwed as a part of the barrel B with bolts. The intermediate piece E is attached to the nozzle body 13 in such a way that the open tubular projections 35 and 37 are connected to the openings 21 and 23 in the nozzle body. An annular seal 53 made of a material such as asbestos is net angeord between the nozzle body 13 and the intermediate piece E in order to avoid leakage of the cooling liquid. To facilitate the connection of the inter mediate piece E with the nozzle body 13, the intermediate piece E has a short extension 55 which engages in the nozzle body 13.
The barrel also contains a spacer SJ for insulation, which is preferably made of nylon. This spacer has a pair of elongated openings 61 and 63, which are arranged on the circumference as in turn so that they match the openings 21 and 23 and 43 and 45 in the nozzle body 13 and in the intermediate piece E. He also holds several openings 65 for fastening, which are provided with threaded inserts 67. On one side, the spacer body SJ also has a groove 71, the opening of which coincides with the channel 73 in its center. The spacer SJ is connected to the intermediate piece E by bolts or
Screw ben connected on one side so that the elongated openings 61 and 63 match the corresponding openings 43 and 45 and 21 and 23 in the intermediate piece E and in the nozzle body 13, since the side of the spacer body having the groove 71 corresponds to the intermediate piece E. is averted. The insulating spacer body SJ rests on a shoulder 77 of the intermediate piece E and is separated from it by a sealing ring 79 made of asbestos to avoid leaks in the cooling liquid and the protective gas.
The barrel is furthermore provided with a head piece DE which is essentially cylindrical in shape with a flange 81 which extends centrally from one of its bases 83. The cylindrical wall has a transverse opening or transverse groove 85 on one side, which extends approximately over an angle of 1800 on the circumference. This opening is connected to the opening in the central channel 87 of the cylinder, which has the same expansion coefficient as the corresponding opening 89 in the extension 81. The shoulder-shaped extension 91, which faces away from the base 83 of the cylinder, has several elongated openings 93 The cylinder has several bores 95 for fastening bolts or
-screws and also has three bores 97, 99 and 101, two of which, namely 97 and 99, cover the openings 61 and 63 in the insulating spacer SJ, and the third, 101, with the groove 71 in the insulating Spacer SJ comes into cover. The bore 101 connected to the groove 71 in the insulating spacer SJ is thus set by 900 with respect to the one and by 1800 with respect to the other hole. The head piece DE is connected to the insulating spacer SJ by bolts or screws which extend through the openings 95 and are screwed into the threaded inserts in the insulating spacer SJ.
The approach 81 on the head piece DE is firmly engaged with the opening 75 of the insulating spacer SJ, and a sealing ring 111 is between the base 83 of the head piece DE and the insulating spacer SJ placed. When the head piece DE is connected to the insulating body SJ, two of the openings 61 and 63 of the insulating body coincide, and the third coincides with the groove 71 in the insulating body.
The barrel further comprises the electrode guide tube (power transmission tube) GE, which is passed through the central bores 89 and 87 of the extension 81 and the cylinder of the head piece. This guide tube GE is fixed in the head piece by an adjustable screw terminal 113, which is securely between the guide tube GE and the housing 115 for the screw terminal. The housing 115 of the screw terminal is connected to the latter by a fastening screw 117. The fastening screw 117 is accessible so that the welder can easily loosen it and easily replace the electrode guide tube GE if it has been damaged.
The pipeline system comprises several lines, the WJ line for the cooling water inlet, the WO line for the cooling water outlet and the GJ line for the inert gas supply. The lines are preferably made of copper; they end in a block 121, which is also preferably made of copper. The lines WJ, WO, GJ can be soldered into the block 121 with silver solder. The ends of the lines WJ, WO and WG protrude a little beyond the block 121 and are each provided with connecting pieces (fittings) 123, 125 and 127. One of the lines, GJ, is bent at a sharp right angle, and the other lines, WJ and WO, are bent at an obtuse angle. In this way, a gap 129 of substantial dimensions is created between the line GJ and the other lines.
The connecting pieces (fittings) 125 of the line WO are larger than the others, and this line also serves to carry the welding current to the welding electrode Z.
The lines WJ, WO and GJ are each guided in detail through the openings 97, 99 and 101 in the head piece DE and are through with this Soldering connected with silver solder (see. Fig. 2 to 8). The protective gas line GJ is passed through the opening 101, which is aligned with the groove 71 in the insulating spacer body SJ.
The cooling water supply line WJ is passed through the opening 97, which is connected to the elongated opening 61 in the spacer, and the cooling water formation WO coincides with the other elongated opening 63 in the spacer. The lines WJ and WO are in this way in connection with the cavity 15 in the nozzle body 13 and lead the cooling liquid - preferably water - to this cavity. The direction of the cooling water flow is indicated by strong arrows in FIGS. 5 and 6.
The cooling water discharge WO, as already indicated above, simultaneously leads the welding current through the head piece DE to the electrode guide and current transmission tube GE and through this to the welding electrode Z. The protective gas feed line GJ is connected to the nozzle opening and leads the protective gas to this opening. The protective gas flow is indicated in Figure 5 by thin dashed arrows.
A transition piece FE of the flexible supply line (see Fig. 2) for supplying the welding electrode Z is attached in the central opening 87 of the head piece DE. The transition piece consists of a tube 141 made of copper or another suitable material, which ends in a receiving block 143. This receiving block 143 is designed approximately in a stepped shape and has a central part 145 which is provided with a bore which communicates with the pipe 141, with the head piece and a projecting part 147 through which a fastening screw 149 for holding the tube 141 extends through.
When the welding gun was ready for use, the actual flexible supply hose 151 for the electrode Z, which is not shown in detail, is inserted into the receiving block 143 and held by the fastening screw 149. The welding electrode Z is inserted through the flexible supply hose 151 into the guide tube GE and guided through this to the tip of the nozzle N . The housing H of the welding gun consists of a pair of congruent parts Hl and H2 (in the following sometimes also referred to as handle shells), which are preferably made of a plastic, e.g. B. a phenol condensation product such as Micarta exist.
Each of the sections is provided with tracks 161, 163, 165, 167 with a recess 169 and with a circular cavity 171 , so that when they are brought into congruence with their congruent inner sides, form the housing with the cavities for the various components of the welding gun ver (see. Fig. 3). To screw the housing parts Hl and H2 together, bores, not shown in the drawing, are provided in one of the housing parts, for example in part H2, and threaded inserts 181 known per se are attached in the other housing half Hl.
When the housing parts Hl and H2 to the housing H are joined together, the housing represents a barrel casing BS which receives the barrel and of which a handle HA runs at an oblique angle to the axis of the barrel B (see. Fig. 2).
The barrel jacket BS is provided at one end with a tubular opening which is formed by the recesses 169 into which the insulating spacer SJ and the head piece DE and their associated parts are inserted. The opening 169 is in firm engagement with the spacer body SJ by means of a corrugated ring 183 which is dimensioned so that it presses the opening halves 169 firmly against one another. A deep groove leads from the spacer body SJ over the track 169 to a slot-like opening which is formed by the track 165. The handle HA and the barrel jacket BS consist of one piece and have recesses in tracks 161 and 163 which are in communication with the recess in the barrel jacket.
The welding gun is equipped with a starter switching device and a feed switching device. The start-up switching device consists essentially of a small switch 201 and a leaf spring 203 for operating the switch. The miniature switch 201 is fastened on a boss 205 of the handle shell H1, which is surrounded by the tracks 161 and 163 and its position is precisely determined by pins 207. The leaf spring 203 is attached to a pin 209 which is arranged on another boss 211 of the handle shell H1.
The leaf spring 203 can be tensioned by a lever (pressure switch) TR, which is plate-like and has a recess 213 on one side, which is provided for the engagement of the index finger of the welder's hand and has an extension piece 215 . This plate TR is arranged in a recess of approximately semi-circular outline, which is formed between parts 217 by the side parts running at an oblique angle between the handle HA and the barrel jacket BS, the extension piece 215 in a slot of the handle HA slides.
The plate TR has two switching positions and is held in each of these positions by a locking ball 219 which is inserted in a hole on the inside of the handle shell Hl and is kept under pressure to the outside by a spring 220 (cf. Fig. 10). The plate TR is held in its outermost position by the frictional force transmitted by the ball 219, and in the other, i.e. the inner position, the plate is also held by the frictional force exerted by the ball.
The plate TR used as a pusher (trigger-like pressure switch) is normally in the extreme position in which the leaf spring 203 is not in engagement with the button 223 of the small switch 201. The extension piece 215 of the plate TR has at its tip a narrow notch which is in communication with a circular opening 221, in which the free end of the leaf spring 203 is held. The trigger TR can be moved from its outer position to the inner position with the index finger, whereby the leaf spring 203 moves the button 223 of the miniature switch 201 and thus actuates it.
In the rear position, the trigger TR is held by the locking device 219. Suitable conductors, not shown in the drawing, can be connected to the miniature switch 201, which conductors are guided through the piston plate 225 of the handle HA of the welding gun. The connection with the associated control unit is shown schematically in FIG. 11.
The feed switch also contains a miniature switch 231 which is fastened by pins 233 on the boss 211, which is formed at the connection point of the tracks 161 and 163. This small switch 231 can be operated by a leaf spring 235 which is connected to a pusher 237 in Ver. The pusher 237 is kept out of engagement with the button 241 of the miniature switch 231 by the leaf spring 235, the spring being attached to a pin 243 and being kept under tension by another pin 245 over which it is placed. The leaf spring 235 is connected to the pusher 237 through a narrow notch that ends in a circular opening 247. The small switch 231 can be operated by pressing the button 237 with the small finger of the hand encompassing the handle HA .
In this way, the force of the leaf spring 235 is overcome and the switch button 241 is depressed. To the small switch 231 lines are connected, which are led to the control unit together with the lines to the small switch 201 through the piston plate 225 of the handle.
The pipes WJ, WO and GJ are inserted into recesses in the handle shells of the handle HA , which are formed from the webs 161 and 163, and are further through the connection point between the handle HA and the barrel jacket BS are laid in recesses that lead between the lanes 167 and 169 to barrel B. The tubes WO and WJ are set running between the handle Hl and the small switch 231 and between the pusher plate TR and the handle Hl. The tube GJ lies between the small switch 201, the rear end of the push plate TR and the handle shell H2.
Since the tubes are inserted into the recesses of the handle shells of the handle, the block 121 in which the tubes are fastened is also let into a recess in the piston plate 225 of the handle. The fittings 123, 125, 127 on the tubes WJ, WO, GJ protrude somewhat beyond the piston plate 225.
The electrode advance speed can be changed by adjusting an adjustable resistor VR, which is let into a circular recess 171 in the barrel jacket. The resistor VR is arranged in a space 129 between the pipe GJ and the pipes WJ and WO. The adjustable resistor VR is connected by lines that lead through the handle HA to the control device of the welding device, in particular to the motor control circuit of the electrode feed motor, which controls the feed speed with which the electrode during a Welding process is fed to the welding point by the welding gun.
An adjusting disk 301 for setting the resistance VR is provided on its periphery with corrugation and connected to the setting pin 303 of the resistance VR. The adjusting disk 301 protrudes on the one hand over the tube GJ and on the other hand over part of the extension piece 215 of the pusher TR. The flexible electrode supply hose 151 is passed between the disk 301 and the adjustable resistor VR. The barrel jacket BS is provided with an indentation 305 in which the adjusting washer 301 is arranged to adjust the resistor VR.
The adjusting disc. 301 is protected by a part 307 of the barrel jacket which has the indentation 305 and can easily be adjusted by the hand of the welder holding the welding gun.
The welding gun described above is preferably used in conjunction with other components of a welding device, as shown schematically in FIG. In Fig. 11 the welding gun is connected to a power supply device which supplies the welding current. The scarf ter 201 and 231 are connected to a start-up circuit or a feed circuit, by means of which the welding process can be initiated and the electrode Z can be fed. The adjustable resistor VR is connected to the motor control circuit of the electrode feed motor. This motor control circuit contains an electrical discharge vessel T, preferably a thyratron, and an associated grid control circuit. The resistor VR is switched on in this control circuit.
When using the welding gun, the electrode guide tube (power transmission tube) GE is fastened in the head piece DE and the flexible electrode supply hose 151 is attached to the receiving block 143. The electrode Z is then advanced through the flexible hose 151, through the head piece DE and through the electrode guide tube GE until it protrudes from the mouth of the nozzle. During a welding process, cooling liquid is sent through the supply and discharge pipes WJ and WO and the current-carrying connection terminal of the power supply device is connected to the connection piece (fitting) 125 of the discharge pipe WO .
The processes are briefly described below: The welding electrode Z is advanced so far by actuation of the feed switch 231 that it can be brought into contact with the workpiece. The start-up switch 201 is operated by operating the trigger (trigger TR). During the welding process, the electrode advance speed can be adjusted by precisely setting the resistance VR by means of the adjusting disk 301. A change in the position of the electrode Z in relation to the workpiece changes the welding current. So there is also an increase in the distance between the electrode and the workpiece, as required by lengthening the arc at a higher speed of the electrode, a change in the welding current.
As can be seen from the drawing, the welding gun has a simple and stable structure. The pipes WJ, WO and GJ for the circulation of the cooling liquid and the supply line for the protective gas are completely guided inside the welding gun. The electrode guide tube (power transmission tube) GE is easily exchangeable. Since the electrode guide tube is in metallic contact and thus in thermal conduction contact with the head piece DE , which carries coolant, both the electrode guide tube, the head piece and their fastening devices are cooled during the welding. In addition, since the cooling liquid is sent through the cavity in the nozzle body, the nozzle is also kept cool.
The feed speed at which the electrode is fed through the nozzle to the workpiece and thus also the welding current - are controlled by the adjustable resistor VR, and the welder can also adjust the feed speed during the welding process in this way. The welding gun can easily be taken apart for cleaning or repair. The housing is opened by loosening various screws. Since the springs 203 and 235 are leaf springs, they and the parts in their vicinity are not thrown away when the housing parts Hl and H2 (handle shells) are removed. The barrel B can also be dismantled in an advantageous manner by loosening several bolts or screws.
The welding gun has proven to be highly advantageous in practice.
While a particular embodiment of the invention is shown and explained in the drawing and the description, various modifications thereof are possible. The invention is therefore not limited to this embodiment.
