<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Device for heating fine-grained material, in particular cement raw meal.Known devices of this type consist of several cyclones which are connected to one another by pipelines in such a way that the exhaust gases of a rotary kiln are sucked through the individual cyclones one after the other by means of a fan, while the dust discharge pipes of each cyclone with the exception of the last, open into the exhaust pipe leading to the following cyclone.
The cyclones can each be arranged in two rows one above the other, the cyclones of each row being offset from one another in such a way that one cyclone of one row is arranged exactly at the level of the gap that is left free between two cyclones of the neighboring row.
The fact that the cyclones are arranged vertically on top of one another in their axis results in an extraordinarily large overall height for the entire system, if you consider that four or more cyclones must be arranged on top of one another in order to utilize an existing heat gradient in the exhaust gases dust-like material is introduced into the elbow, which leads to the next cyclone in the neighboring row.
In the case of a system of normal size, this results in a tower with a height of about 40 m, which naturally requires a large and expensive steel or concrete structure to accommodate the individual cyclones.
Another disadvantage of known systems is that for the transfer of the exhaust gases or the dust-like material from one cyclone to the next following cyclone of the neighboring row elbows have to be used, which are very often the cause of malfunctions. Experience has shown that the dust-like material settles in the bends and partially cakes, whereby the free passage cross-section is increasingly reduced. So you had to make a lot of potholes in order to be able to continuously clean the pipes.
So that a large number of such holes can be provided inan, it has even been proposed that the pipes or elbows should have a square cross-section, which naturally makes the construction of the system more expensive. In addition, however, the cleaning of the pipes requires a considerable number of skilled workers.
The invention completely eliminates the deficiencies described in that the individual cyclones are arranged with their axes inclined to the perpendicular. The individual cyclones are advantageously positioned one above the other and offset from one another, but always in such a way that they can be connected by straight pipes.
The central axes of the individual cyclones are expediently inclined by approximately 450 to the vertical, so that the central axis of the cyclone lying in a row then runs perpendicular to the central axis of the next lower cyclone in the neighboring row.
The central axes of all cyclones form roughly a zigzag line. The inclined arrangement has the advantage that the individual cyclones can be moved very close to one another and that only short, straight pipes are required for their connection and any bends are completely eliminated.
The dust discharge pipes and the exhaust pipes of each cyclone are advantageously located in planes approximately parallel to one another. The gas guide tube of a cyclone runs exactly in the center axis of the next lower cyclone, while the dust discharge tube opens approximately perpendicularly into the exhaust gas tube, which. connects this cyclone to the previous cyclone.
The individual pipelines can
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Depending on the operating conditions, open radially or tangentially into the respective cyclone. The dust discharge pipe can be a chute lying approximately in the plane of the bottom of the cyclone.
The individual cyclones can expediently become smaller in diameter towards the top, since the temperature of the exhaust gases decreases from one cyclone to the other, and thus the cyclones have to become smaller in diameter towards the top while maintaining the same flow speeds.
The invention allows various structural design options. One of them is shown in the drawing. 1 shows a schematic representation of the entire system; 2 shows an illustration of the axis profile of the individual cyclones; 3 shows a section along the line a-b through the uppermost cyclone according to FIG. 1, and FIG. 4 shows a similar sectional view as FIG. 3 through another embodiment of a cyclone.
The cyclone system, which is formed from the cyclones 2, 3, 4 and 5, connects to the rotary kiln 1 of known design.
Of course, depending on the requirements of the operation, a larger number of cyclones can also be combined in one system. According to FIG. 2, the central axes of the individual cyclones form approximately a zigzag line, each enclosing an angle of 4511 with the perpendicular 1-I, ie. H. the central axes of the successive cyclones are approximately at right angles to one another.
The lowermost cyclone 2 is connected to the rotary kiln 1 by an exhaust pipe 6 and by a dust discharge pipe 7 in the manner shown. The pipe 7 forms a chute which transfers the dust-like material separated in the cyclone 2 into the rotary furnace 1. The hot exhaust gases from the furnace enter the cyclone 2 via the exhaust pipe 6 at the upper end.
The cyclone 3 is arranged to a certain extent higher than the cyclone 2, its dust discharge pipe 7a opening into the exhaust pipe 6 and its exhaust pipe 6a, lying in the central axis of the cyclone 2, extending into it and in a straight line to the upper end of the cyclone 3 is introduced. The other cyclones 4 and 5 are arranged in the same way and connected to one another via short, straight dust discharge pipes and exhaust pipes, with the dust discharge pipe 7b and 7c opening into the exhaust pipe 6a and 6b connecting the two lower-lying cyclones.
The exhaust pipe 6d leading out of the cyclone 5 leads to a fan (not shown) or to a filter, while the pipe 7d, which opens into the exhaust pipe 6c, is connected to the feed point for the pulverulent furnace material.
According to FIG. 3, the dust discharge pipe 7c can merge, tapering radially, from the bottom of the cyclone 5 into the exhaust pipe 6b; but the arrangement according to FIG. 4 is also possible, in which the dust discharge pipe 7c 'opens tangentially out of the cyclone 5' so that the separated material is thrown into the chute in the direction of the arrow.
The powdery furnace material, which is fed into the line 7d, moves in the direction of the arrows drawn in with strong lines one after the other through the individual cyclones 5, 4, 3 and 2 and finally reaches the rotary kiln 1 via the chute 7 the exhaust gases emerging from the rotary kiln: n 1 in the arrow direction indicated by dashed lines successively the cyclones 2, 3, 4 and 5 and finally arrive via the line 6d after the fan or the filter.
As the illustration shows, the individual cyclones are close together; the connecting pipes are short and straight, so that any bends in the lines that could lead to malfunctions are avoided and a short overall height of the entire system is ensured.
The cyclones can preferably also be arranged along a helical line, that is to say in their entirety they can form a kind of helix.
