<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

Control device for keeping the voltage of a three-phase synchronous generator constant Control devices for keeping the voltage of an electrical generator constant are used, for example, in test and calibration stations for measuring devices, such as B. Wattmeter and electricity meter are used.
To calibrate measuring devices, a precisely regulated, distortion-free voltage is required, which may deviate from the nominal value by a maximum of 0.05%. If you consider that the voltage of the power supply network can deviate from the nominal voltage by up to 101 / o, it is clear that such a high requirement with regard to voltage constancy leads to particular control problems.
Since static AC voltage stabilizers are no longer able to regulate such large mains voltage fluctuations and the load fluctuations from zero to full load that must also be taken into account, the supply voltage is taken from a regulated generator. Known regulating devices of the type mentioned at the beginning have a synchronous motor fed by the supply network, which is coupled to a synchronous generator and a direct current generator for exciting the main generator.
Since the mains frequency is subject to much smaller fluctuations than the mains voltage, the speed of rotation of the synchronous motor is relatively constant and the fluctuations in the voltage of the synchronous generator are therefore much lower than those of the mains voltage. The rectified generator voltage is then fed as a controlled variable to a controller that contains a magnetic or electronic amplifier. Since it is more difficult to restrict the harmonic content to the permissible level with a magnetic amplifier, an electronic amplifier is used for high accuracy requirements.
The controlled variable is then compared with a setpoint voltage mostly originating from a stabilizing device, according to which the increased control deviation controls the excitation of the synchronous generator in such a way that any deviations in the generator voltage are corrected. For three-phase current, there is often the additional condition that distortions of the voltage triangle due to asymmetrical loading of the phases must be corrected. For this purpose, a generator is provided for each of the three phases in a known control device. The stator windings of the three generators are offset from one another by 120.
A tube regulator is assigned to each generator to keep its voltage constant. The cost of such control devices is considerable, especially for larger generator outputs in the order of magnitude of 10 to 100 kVA. With increasing power, the excitation power and thus the required tube expenditure in the power stage also increase. In order not to have to drive a great deal of power tubes, it has already been proposed to provide a combination of three generators with one transformer.
These generators then supply part (about 200h) of the total energy that is necessary to compensate for the greatest possible voltage fluctuations, while the remaining part (about 80%) is taken from the transformer. However, this known arrangement has a serious disadvantage that the distortion of the mains voltages and all disturbances can penetrate the regulated network undiminished.
The present invention relates to a control device for keeping the voltage of a three-phase synchronous generator constant with a measuring rectifier, a frequency compensation unit
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
direction, a preamplifier stage and a power stage existing electronic controller in which the control deviation corresponding to the difference between the actual and setpoint value is formed and amplified and the increased control deviation controls the excitation of the generator, in which the aforementioned disadvantages are eliminated by supplying the excitation winding an amplifier excitation machine is provided for the three-phase synchronous generator,
whose excitation winding is controlled by the power stage and the preamplifier stage is formed by a differential amplifier, one of which is connected to an electron tube as an amplifier to amplify the control deviation and the other electron tube as a cathode follower, while the cathodes of both tubes are connected to a common cathode resistor at a fixed negative potential common reference base of the control device,
means for compensating the heating voltage fluctuations of the tubes of the preamplifier stage as well as means for compensating for anode voltage fluctuations and a feedback device connected to the excitation voltage of the three-phase synchronous generator and acting on the control grid of the cathode follower are provided.
The invention is explained in more detail with reference to an embodiment shown in the drawing. 1 shows a schematic diagram of a control device according to the invention, and FIG. 2 shows a circuit diagram of this control device.
In Fig.l, 1 denotes a three-phase synchronous motor which is connected to the network R, S, T and drives a three-phase synchronous generator 2 which feeds a network U, V, W to be regulated. The generator 2 is excited by an excitation winding 3 which is fed by a booster exciter 4 driven by a three-phase motor (not shown). The excitation winding 5 of the latter is fed by a regulator consisting of parts 6, 7 and 8.
The mains voltage U, V, W to be regulated is fed to part 6 of the controller, designed as a measuring rectifier, which performs a three-phase full-wave rectification and outputs a DC voltage proportional to the mean value of the three interlinked phase voltages at its output. This direct voltage forms the controlled variable and is compared in part 7 of the controller, which is designed as a preamplifier, with a constant setpoint voltage. The amplified differential voltage controls the current for the excitation winding 5 of the booster exciter 4 via the part 8 of the regulator, which is designed as a power stage.
The arrangement is made such that if the controlled variable deviates from the setpoint, the power stage 8 controls the exciter 4 and thus the excitation of the generator 2 in such a way that the deviation is reversed. Fig. 2 shows the control device in detail. Corresponding parts are indicated with the same reference numerals as in Fig.l. The measuring rectifier 6 contains three transformers 9, 10, 11, the primary windings 12, 13, 14 of which are connected on the one hand to the phases U, V, W of the generator 2 and on the other hand with the tapping of one each in a delta connection on the phases U, V, W. Potentiometers 15, 16 and 17 are connected.
Each transformer 9 to 11 also has a bias winding 18, which are connected in series and applied to a voltage that is taken from a potentiometer 19 connected in parallel with the excitation winding 5. The secondary windings 20 of the transformers 9 to 11 have a center tap 21 and, together with two valves 22 or 23 or 24, form three push-pull rectifier circuits which together result in a six-phase star connection.
Thanks to the six-phase rectification, the ripple voltage component can be kept small, so that there is no need to provide extensive filtering means which, due to their large time constant, would delay the control process considerably. The direct voltage occurring at the six-phase star connection is proportional to the mean value of the three interlinked voltages of the network U, V, W to be regulated and forms the controlled variable which is tapped off at a potentiometer 25. Thanks to this averaging, distortions of the voltage triangle due to asymmetrical loading have less of an effect than would be the case if only one of the rectified, linked voltages were used as the control voltage.
The potentiometers 15 to 17 are set so that the inevitable small differences in the rectifier characteristics are compensated. The control voltage picked up by the potentiometer 25 is fed to the preamplifier stage 7 via a resistor 26. This is formed by a differential amplifier which consists of two electron tubes 27, 28, the tube 27 being connected as an amplifier tube and the tube 28 as a cathode follower. The cathodes 29 of the tubes 27, 28 have a common cathode resistance 30.
This is connected to the negative pole of a DC voltage U1 stabilized by two stabilizer tubes 31, 32, which is supplied by a power rectifier (not shown). The stabilizer tubes are connected to the DC voltage Ui via a resistor 33 and a capacitor 34 is parallel to the stabilizer tubes 31, 32. The anode 35 of the tube 28 is connected to the positive pole of the DC voltage U1 stabilized by the stabilizer tubes 31, 32 .
A resistor 36 connects the control grid 38 of the cathode follower 28 to the connecting line 37 between the two stabilizer tubes 31, 32, whereby the stabilizer tube 32 simultaneously serves as a reference voltage source. The anode 39 of the
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
Amplifier tube 27 is connected via an anode resistor 40 to the positive pole of a direct voltage UZ, which comes from a second power rectifier, also not shown. The power stage 8 consists of a number of tubes 41 connected in parallel in a cathode follower circuit, of which only two have been shown for the sake of simplicity.
The anodes 42 and the screen grids 43 of these tubes are each connected to the positive pole of the direct voltage U2 via a low-resistance protective resistor 44 or 45. The control grids 46 of the tubes 41 are each connected to the anode 39 of the tube 27 of the preamplifier stage 7 via a protective resistor 47. The voltage for the screen grid 48 of the tube 27 is tapped off at a potentiometer 49 connected to the direct voltage U2. In series with the cathodes 50 of the tubes 41 is the excitation winding 5 of the amplifier exciter 4, which in turn feeds the excitation winding 3 of the three-phase synchronous generator 2.
A capacitor 51 is also connected to the cathodes 50 of the tubes 41, the other side being connected to the control grid 52 of the tube 27. A potentiometer 53 lying parallel to the excitation winding 3 forms a feedback with a capacitor 54 and the resistor 36 of the preamplifier 7. Finally, a frequency compensation device 55 is also provided, which compensates for the frequency dependence of the measuring rectifier 6. It contains a series resonance circuit connected to phases U and W of the network to be regulated, consisting of a capacitor 56 and the primary winding 57 of a transformer 58.
The resonance frequency of this series resonance circuit is selected to be greater than the frequency of the network U, V, W, so that work is carried out in the linear part of the resonance curve in which the changes in current are proportional to the changes in frequency. The voltage output at the secondary winding 59 of the transformer 58 is then proportional to the frequency deviation. A frequency-independent voltage is added to this voltage and is tapped at a potentiometer 60 which is also connected to the phases U, W of the network U, V, W to be regulated.
The vectorial sum of the two voltages is fed to the primary winding 61 of a transformer 62. The adjustable frequency-dependent secondary voltage tapped at the secondary winding 63 of the transformer 62 is converted into a frequency-dependent DC voltage with a rectifier 64 and introduced into the control grid circuit of the amplifier tube 27 of the preamplifier 7 in a compensating manner via the resistor 26, whereby the latter is controlled independently of the frequency. The circuit arrangement described rests on a reference base 65 which is preferably grounded.
In Figure 2 this is indicated by thick lines.
The control device works as follows: If, for example, the voltage U, V, W of the three-phase synchronous generator 2 drops, the control voltage at the grid 52 of the amplifier tube 27 also drops. The anode current of the amplifier tube 27 decreases as a result, so that the potential at the anode 39 and thus the Grid potential on the power tubes 41 increases. The voltage drop occurring at the power tubes 41 therefore decreases, which results in an increase in the voltage at the field winding 5 of the booster exciter 4.
The voltage of the booster excitation machine 4 consequently increases, so that the three-phase synchronous generator 2 is more strongly excited and its output voltage U, V, W is thus returned to the setpoint value. If the voltage U, V, W of the three-phase synchronous generator 2 rises above the setpoint value, the control process takes place in the opposite direction. Since the potential of the cathodes 29 of the tubes 27, 28 is constant thanks to the stabilization of the grid potential of the cathode follower tube 28, the change in the grid potential of the tube 27 is practically fully effective as a change in its anode current. The gain that can be achieved with the tube 27 is therefore fully utilized.
The regulating resistor 33 is set so that the influence of fluctuations in the voltage U1 and the heating voltage of the tubes 27, 28 on the voltage of the three-phase synchronous generator 2 is reduced to a minimum. The influence of fluctuations in the voltage U., is largely compensated for by a suitable setting of the potentiometer 49. For example, if the voltage U2 increases, the voltage on the screen grid 48 of the tube 27 also increases.
The potential of the anode 39 of this tube therefore decreases, which results in an increase in the internal resistance of the power tubes 41. The resulting increased voltage drop across these tubes counteracts the increase in their anode currents caused by the increase in voltage U2. With additional stabilizing agents, the influence of the voltage fluctuations of U1 and U2. can of course be increased to the voltage of the three-phase synchronous generator 2.
However, the resulting additional effort is circumvented in the present control device in a very useful way that the voltage for the supply of the mains rectifier for generating the voltages Ui and U2, and the voltage for heating the tubes 27, 28 and 41 after commissioning the control device is obtained from the regulated generator voltage. The capacitor 51 serves to compensate for the influence of the ripple voltage component of the rectified control voltage, in that the amplified ripple voltage component is fed back from the cathode side of the power stage 8 in phase opposition to the control grid 52 of the tube 27.
The pre-magnetization windings 18 provided on the transformers 9 to 11, which via the potential
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
Tiometer 19 are fed by a direct voltage proportional to the excitation voltage of the booster exciter 4, result in an additional control effect which, together with the gain of the preamplifier stage 7, ensures a control accuracy of at least 1: 2000 (0.05 O / o).
In addition to the advantage of the low ripple voltage component, the three-phase rectifier arrangement has the advantage that the sum of the alternating voltages induced in the premagnetization windings 18 is zero because they are phase-shifted by 120 with respect to one another. The feedback 53, 54, 36 serves to stabilize the control, which is necessary with regard to the phase rotation between the input and output signals caused by the time constants in the control loop. The potentiometer 53 is set in such a way that the steady-state end state is just reached during the control process without overshooting, that is, the controlled variable tends towards the setpoint aperiodically.
Because a booster exciter 4 is provided to feed the excitation winding 3 of the three-phase synchronous generator 2, the outlay on power tubes 41 remains low. In order to be able to bring the voltage at the excitation winding 5 of the amplifier exciter 4 to the low value required when the three-phase synchronous generator 2 is idling, the tubes 27, 28 of the preamplifier 7 are connected to a fixed negative potential on the cathode side with respect to the common reference base 65.
Since the preamplifier stage 7 is connected as a differential amplifier, the feedback variable of the feedback device 53, 54, 36 can control the amplifier tube 27 via its cathode follower part 28, despite the fact that the control grid 52 is already occupied for the control by the controlled variable. The precautions that are taken to compensate for the influence of the heating voltage fluctuations of the tubes 27, 28 ensure that mains voltage fluctuations no longer have any undesirable influence on the control accuracy.
Overall, the prescribed measures result in an extraordinarily high level of control accuracy, which is maintained even in the event of strong mains voltage and load fluctuations. Thanks to the consistent implementation of a common reference base 65, the control device works very stably and does not tend to self-excitement.
