Fig. 2 spitz verläuft.
The invention relates to a device with a radiator for the free non-wired radiation of microwave energy, preferably for the irradiation of strips of an object that are narrow in relation to the wavelength, e.g. B. for edge gluing.
When processing chipboard, plywood, etc. in the furniture industry, wooden strips are very often glued around the panels, so-called edging edges. To shorten the setting times for the glue, attempts have already been made to heat the glue joint by means of microwave radiation. However, the previously known radiators for this purpose have the fault that too much high-frequency power goes into the wood and too little into the glue joint.
The condition that the E-vector of the field should lie in the longitudinal direction of the glue joint is often not fulfilled.
The present invention is preferably intended for edge gluing with microwaves, but can also be used for other purposes in which a strip of the object that is narrow in relation to the wavelength is to be treated. The wavelength of the microwaves used is chosen so that the depth of penetration of the wave still causes an even penetration in the depth of the glue joint in the largest possible wood thicknesses.
The invention is explained below with reference to exemplary embodiments: For the construction of the radiator, according to FIG. 1, a waveguide 1 with a preferably circular cross section with or without a longitudinal web is used, which is attached to its Ends 2 is short-circuited. The waveguide is dimensioned in such a way that at the selected generator frequency only the basic magnetic wave (H1, wave) can exist in it. The energy of the generator 3 is z.
B. is fed to the waveguide by a coupling pin 4 protruding into the hollow conductor approximately A14. With the direction of the coupling pin or the position of a longitudinal web, the direction of the field and the position of the densest axial currents in the waveguide wall is set. Across. the slots 5 are attached to these. The radiator is provided with several, preferably four, slots, as can be seen from FIG. 1.
Its shortest distance to the coupling pin of the generator is 3/4 of the pipe shaft length #. The creation of slots, which is also possible with A14, is avoided as far as possible in order to achieve a clear design of the shaft. All other slots are 2/2 apart from each other. The slots themselves are designed as slots tapering towards their ends in such a way that each slot has its greatest width of approximately A14 exactly above the glue joint and towards its ends. Fig. 2 is pointed.
The length of the slots should be slightly larger than # / 2. In Fig. 2, 6 represents a wooden panel and 7 the edge band. In between, there is the glue joint 8 under which a metallic reflector 9 is attached, which causes even more high-frequency energy to become effective in the glue joint. Instead of the reflector plate, a second radiator of the same type can also be used according to FIG. 3, which is attached in the longitudinal direction of the object strip to be treated by A / 4 (1/4 tube wavelength).
The second radiator can also be tuned to a different generator frequency. This avoids mutual influencing of the HF generators and / or achieves a different penetration depth.
Compared to the usual rectangular. With a radiator with a circular cross-section and the slots according to the invention, hollow conductors with right-angled slots have the following advantages (see Fig. 2) Slit becomes weaker, stronger at greater distances compared to the case of a narrow slit. At the same time, the amount of energy due to the glue joint increases because of the larger effective opening in the middle of the slot.
Conversely, the RF losses from radiation into the wood to the side of the glue joint are lower because the slot widths are smaller and the distances between the slot and the wood are greater.
