Foundry model The technique of hardening a molding or coring sand - previously mixed with sodium silicate - </ B> is now sufficiently well known and widespread in the foundry industry, without it being necessary to specify it here. If this process has taken a great development in the development of foundry cores, on the other hand its adaptation to molding is, in general, little used. In fact, the insufflation of the CO 2 gas is easy in the preparation of the cores, the bearing surfaces of the cores almost always offering a convenient sand surface for the insufflation of the gas.
The use of the molding process has hitherto encountered several obstacles and drawbacks, generally due to the difficulty of blowing gas in a rational and economical manner. The object of the present invention is to make it possible to produce in series, in a safe and rational manner, high-precision moldings, and for complicated parts having a great demoulding height, to allow the rational use of machines. à direct demoulding instead of reversible machines, more expensive and slower.
It relates to a foundry model comprising a network of channels extending to the inside of its walls and conducting a gas intended for the hardening of the mold formed by this model, from a source of supply of this gas at various points on the surface of the model in contact with the mold, characterized in that at least some of these channels have means for adjusting the flow rate of the injected gas, so as to </ B > allow gas to be distributed in the mold according to a predetermined injection plan.
The appended drawing represents, to by way of example, an embodiment of the foundry model, object of the present invention: FIG. 1 is a longitudinal section. Fig. 2, a section along II-II of FIG. 1. Figs. 3 and 4 are detailed views.
The drawing represents schematically (fig. 1 and 2) a foundry model plate (la) with its molding frame (1b) intended to </ B > the manufacture of molds hardened by gas blowing, for example molds made up of foundry sand comprising sodium silicate and hardened by CO2.
This model plate (la) comprises a network (2) of channels extending to the inside of its walls, of one or more fixed nozzles (3) on the side of the plate, intended to bring the gas to various points (4) of the surface of the model in contact with the surface of the impression (5) </ B > formed by the model.
The network (2) is formed by a main collector (6) from which secondary collectors (7a, 7b, 7c ... leave ... 7n) extending longitudinally in the mold. Each secondary collector supplies a series of elementary networks (8a, 8b, 8c ..... . < I> 8n) leading the C02 to points (4) on the surface of the model.
The C02 is injected into the mold through filters (9) placed at the various outlets (4) of the. network (2). These filters consist of diaphragms covering these outlets and having a plurality of openings intended for the passage of the gas. Through these diaphragms, the gas enters the mold in a large number of places and with a sufficiently measured energy so as not to erode the surface of the mold.
To dose the quantity of CO, injected into the mold at the various points (4) whatever their distance from to the feed nozzle and taking into account the volume sand to to impregnate, the collectors (7a, 7b, 7c ...... 7n) present. of flow rate adjustment (10a, 10b, l0c ...... 10n) arranged at the entrance of these collectors.
In a first variant (fig. 3) these means are butterfly valves. These include a lens (11) of diameter corresponding to the diameter of the channel to to close, fixed to the end of a rod threaded (12), engaged in a sleeve (13) chased in the model and whose head has a slot (14) into which a tool can be inserted. of </ B> rotate the lens. The valve is blocked in the position corresponding to the desired flow rate by a nut (1 5).
Of course, the angular position of the lens will be different for each collector (7a, 7b, 7c ------ 7n) and will be a function of the pressure drops between in the circuit traversed by the C02 and comprised between the nozzle (3) and the orifices (4) of each of these manifolds.
In a second variant (fig. 4) these means comprise a set of walls (16), partially obstructing the collectors (7a, 7b, 7c .. < / B> 7n), arranged in staggered rows one to one after the other so to form baffles.
In a third variant not shown, these walls could be replaced by a plug of any filtering material, such as glass wool, for example.
The number of these walls as well as their height, or the volume of the filtering material, depends on the additional pressure drop that Pon wants to create, different from collector to collector, and corresponding to the differences the pressure drops of the various circuits traversed by the CO. and between the nozzle (3) and the orifices (4).
In a fourth variant, not shown, it would be possible, when the models are of particularly large dimensions, to combine the above adjustment systems by placing them in series or else by equipping the manifolds with butterfly valves and the channels of lesser importance. baffles similar to those shown in fig. 4.
It will be understood that with the aid of butterfly valves it is also possible to vary the flow rates of C02 injected into the various points of the mold within very wide limits. For example, it is possible to lead a very large quantity of C02 to places of a mold with complicated or delicate shapes or subject to erosion by the metal for which a casting very high precision is required.
