Description
Casting mold for the production of castings made of copper alloys in a vacuum For the production of cast bodies from gunmetal, gold and the like, it is known that the mold z. B. from plaster of paris, plaster of paris and quartz and the like. To cast masses. The use of such Cast molds have the advantage of large compared to stamped sand and clay molds Ease of manufacture. Furthermore, such forms also result smooth, clean castings. However, it is only possible to use these cast forms for relatively small pieces of metal, such as B. Dental crowns for artificial dentures, to be used when the mold is spun in order to quickly mold the Metal in shape. The storage of molds is also known in or above an air-diluted room to prevent gas and bubble formation in the casting to prevent.
As soon as one tries now, cast molds from such masses To use for larger castings, it turns out that the molds drifted apart and that only unclean and incomplete pieces arise.
According to the invention, the lower part of the mold is made of plaster of paris or with Quartz mixed plaster of paris, while the top of the mold is made of amorphous carbon, which is free from flake graphite, such as B. electrode carbon. At that Metal side facing away is the mold over a cavity in an enclosing one gastight housing with a device suitable for generating a negative pressure tied together. With this arrangement, the contact between the liquid Metal and the plaster of paris so completely removed that a completely smooth and a clean casting is created and the mold is also unchanged and undamaged remains, with the part of the casting mold consisting of amorphous carbon advantageous contributes by only influencing the casting favorably and the occurrence of gases impossible, but on the contrary, gases still appearing on the surface binds, so that the casting runs completely smooth and clean upwards.
It is known per se to form casting molds from porous materials and these in a gas-tight container. enclosed under the action of a facility to set that generate negative pressure. This tool to eliminate the in the Gases occurring in the mold are not sufficient, however, and it is according to the invention underlying determination impossible when casting copper alloys to use closed casting molds made of plaster of paris or plaster-like masses, namely even if they are used using "negative pressure."
It has also been proposed to make casting molds from graphite. However, it has been shown that the top shape to be produced from carbon electrodes is completely must be free of graphite, which on the one hand generates vapors and gases when heated and on the other hand, at the point of contact with the liquid metal glazed, making the top mold incapable of absorbing gases.
The drawing illustrates an exemplary embodiment, namely shows: Fig. Z the @gussform in longitudinal section and Fig. 2 in view from the outside.
In the illustrations, a is the cast form made of plaster of paris and quartz. The same sits in a box body b, and that is intercepted with the help of the shoulders c. On this lower part of the mold a sits the upper mold d, which is made of carbon electrodes.
The two molds are held together by a clamp e. f is the sprue. Below the cast form a is now a vacuum space g arranged, which merges into the nozzle lt. This nozzle has a significant clear cross-section. i is the fixed suction nozzle made of metal is intended and has an elastic sealing ring k.
The mode of operation is as follows. After the cast molds d and a have been inserted into the box b and connected to one another with the aid of the bracket e, the mold is placed on the stationary suction nozzle i. As a result of the negative pressure that arises in the space g, the entire box body is immediately held firmly pressed on the suction nozzle, so that no fasteners and screw connections are required. The liquid metal is now poured into the mold through the funnel f. As a result of the induced draft, which acts from the chamber g into the cavity L of the mold, the gases and the like that arise when the liquid metal hits the cast mold and the air present are immediately removed, so that the oxidation and change on the surface of the mold cast form can not have an impact or only in a harmless way. The use of the form consisting of electrode carbon, ie amorphous carbon, has the advantage that not only do no harmful gases arise in the upper form, but that any gases that may become harmful are still absorbed by the carbon.
The invention can also be used accordingly in the case of multi-part molds if the same with respect to the lower parts and upper parts within the meaning of the invention are trained.
