Shock-absorbing bearing in particular for measuring device axis The subject of the present invention is a shock-absorbing bearing, in particular for the axis of an apparatus for measuring physical quantities to the exclusion however of 'apparatus for measuring time, which comprises a slider arranged in a housing of circular section and subjected to the action of an elastic return device and in which an annular space is formed between the peripheral surface of the slider and the walls of the housing, the return device tending to apply the front face of this slider on an annular bearing face forming one of the end walls of the housing, these two faces having corresponding diameters,
so that under the action of a radial shock, the cra paudine tilts on itself around any point on the periphery of its front face, then under the action of the return device, automatically returns to its position of centered rest, characterized by the fact that the crapaudine is constituted by a cylindrical stone embedded in a conical kitten whose large base forms the front face of the crapaudine, by the fact that this cyhndric stone has a centered conical hollow made in its end closest to the front face of the crapaudine and whose diameter, located in the plane of the front face of the stone,
is less than the diameter of an opening made in said end wall of the housing and intended to give passage to the end of said axis and by the fact that the height of this stone cylindrical is less than than the height of the conical kitten, the whole arranged so that for all the positions that the said axis can occupy in the said opening, the extension of the geometrical axis of the latter passes within said recess.
The accompanying drawing illustrates schematically and to by way of example, one embodiment of the shock absorbing bearing according to the invention. Fig. 1 illustrates the axis of a measuring device held between two shock-absorbing bearings partially in section, when this axis is subjected to a radial and axial impact.
The elements already described in the main patent bear the same reference numbers.
The bearing shown comprises a body 1 of generally tubular shape, intended to be fixed to the frame of a measuring instrument, for example, and the interior of which forms a cylindrical housing 2 of circular section. One of the end walls 1a of this housing is provided with an opening lb intended to allow the end 11 of an axis of a not shown measuring instrument. An annular inner bearing face the is perpendicular to the axis of the housing 2.
A crapaudine, made up of a cylindrical stone 3 embedded in a conical socket 20 is placed in this housing 2. The socket 20 is conical and its large front face 5 is plane and perpendicular to its axis of revolution.
The stone 3 driven out in a housing made in the conical bezel 20 comprises in one of its ends, that located on the side of the large frontal face 5 of the conical bezel 20 , a conical hollow 4, centered on the axis of the stone 3 and therefore of the chaton 20, and intended to cooperate with the conical end lla of the axis 11. The diameter of this hollow, located in the plane of the front face of the stone 3, is less than the diameter of the opening lb < / B> performed in the dwelling 2.
In addition, the height h of the stone 3 is less than than that of the conical kitten 20. This height h is generally less than or equal to two thirds of the height of said conical kitten.
An elastic return device consists of a coil spring 6 which bears on the one hand on the body 1 by means of a plug < B> 7 driven with force in the lower extremity of the body and on the other hand on the small base 9 of the crapaudine by the intermediary of 'a 10 disc-shaped carrier. This coil spring tends to maintain the large base 5 of the conical chaton 20 in contact with the bearing face Ic of the wall of 'end la of housing 2. For this centered rest position of the slider, the conical end 1 l a of the axis < B> 11 is engaged in the recess 4 of the stone 3 and rests on the bottom of this one.
The diameter of the large base 5 of the chaton 20 corresponds to the bore of the cylindrical housing 2, so that the slider is susceptible, under the action of an impact axial, to slide axially practically without play in this housing. The diameter of the small base 9 of the slider being smaller than that of the bore of the housing 2, the slug is liable, under the action of a radial impact, to tip over on it- even around any point of the perimeter of its large base 5 bearing in the angle formed by the side wall of the housing 2 and the support face.
The elastic return device tends to to keep the slider in its centered rest position (fig. 1 upper bearing), so that after having undergone an axial shock and / or radial moving the slider against the action of the return device (fig. 1 lower bearing) the latter automatically places the cra paudine in its centered rest position. The operation of the damper bearing described is identical to that of the damper bearing described in the main patent.
However, it should to notice that during a shock one of the ends 11a, of the axis 11 (fig. 1 upper bearing) is located in the void. Indeed this end 11a leaves the recess 4, the height of the stone 3 being relatively low compared to the stroke of the end 11a. It is therefore necessary, so that after the impact the axis 11 regains its centered position, that the extension of the geometric axis of the axis 11 passes, whatever the position of this axis in the opening lb, inside the circumference formed by the recess 4 on the front face of the stone 3.
When the axis 11 is returned to the centered position, the end 11a of the latter cooperating with the upper bearing comes into contact with the stone 3 and automatically turns in its centered position. However, if the axis comes back too violently on the stone 3 , the latter is moved against the action of the positive return device which avoids any violent impact and therefore any deterioration of the stone 3 and end 1 l a of axis 11.
The relative dimensions of the diameter of the cylindrical part of the axis end 11a and of opening lb are also in defined ratios if it is desired to ensure a good operation of the pa- link. Practically the diameter of the opening lb is equal to the diameter of the cylindrical part 1 1 b of the end of the axis < B> Il increased by a fixed value, between 0.15 and 0.30 mm.
Under these conditions, for the extension of the geometric axis of axis 11 to be located inside the interior of the recess 4, the diameter of this recess must be located in the plane of the frontal face of the stone, is at least equal to this fixed value, generally slightly higher, for example 0, 15 to < / B> 0.40 mm, in order to obtain good operating safety, but the largest diameter of the recess is at most equal to the diameter of said opening lb.
From the foregoing it appears that the cylindrical stone 3 is much smaller than crapaudine stones of currently existing damping devices. This reduction in the dimensions of the stone comes from the fact of the reduction in depth of the recess 4 and therefore of the diameter of the latter located in the plane of the front face of the stone. In fact, for reasons of mechanical resistance, the height of the stone 3 is defined in practice by the depth of the recess 4. This height is practically between two and four times the depth of the recess 4 Likewise, the diameter of the stone 3 depends on the diameter of the hollow 4 and this diameter is, for a given depth, a function of the angle at the top of the conical hollow.
In practice, the diameter of the stone is between one and a half and two and a half times the maximum diameter of the hollow 4.
By a close examination of the functioning of the current shock absorber bearings it was possible to determine that in reality only the bottom of the hollow of the stone is used. This observation made it possible to design a damping device having a very small recess, such as that described, without risk of reducing operating safety.
The depth of the recess 4 is of the order of 0.10 to 0.20 mm while the depth of the hollows of the existing stones is of the order of 0.4 mm. This reduction in the depth of the hollow 4 allows: 1) a notable reduction in the cost price of the stone, in fact the cost of the stone provided with a shallow hollow, such as that described is approximately equal to a quarter of the cost of a stone fitted with a normal dimension hollow used in all bearings of the described type and currently on the market.
The stone being the costly component of the damping bearing since it represents approximately 70% of the total cost of the bearing, it is obvious that, thanks to the present invention, the price of the shock absorber bearings is reduced to a very large extent and in any case by half.
2) The workmanship of the hollow is much better because it is easier to achieve. Indeed, it is well known that the difficulties of machining a hollow increase with the depth of the latter. It is therefore possible, by reducing the depth of the hollow, to obtain a Higher average machining precision of the hollow and therefore less waste stones. By virtue of its new and original constructive characteristics, the damper bearing described achieves considerable technical progress over the best bearings of this type currently known.
