Shelf intended to be placed above the head of a fit and comprising a device enabling at least one bedside lamp to be switched on and off When one wakes up at night and you want to turn on a bedside lamp, you have to finger yourself to find the switch. An attempt has been made to eliminate this drawback by making the button of the switch of the lamp fluorescent.
Another solution is possible in modern bedrooms with a bed at the head of which is a shelf fixed to the wall and on which are placed bi-belots, books and the bedside lamp (s) (unless. these lamps are not attached to the wall above the shelf itself).
The present invention relates to a shelf of tiné to be placed above the head of a bed and comprising a device for switching on and off at least one bedside lamp. This spoke is characterized by the fact that it comprises at least one switch inserted in the supply circuit of the lamp and fixed to the plate constituting the body of the spoke and a bar housed in a groove extending along the plate near the front edge thereof and open downwards, this bar being movable in this groove and accessible at least over the greatest part of its length, the whole being arranged in such a way that when the bar is moved, it acts on the actuator of the switch and thus actuates the latter.
The appended drawing shows, by way of example, two embodiments of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is an end view of the first embodiment; fig. 2 is a partial plan view; fig. 3 is a sectional view along III-III of FIG. 2; fig. 4 is a partial sectional view of the second embodiment. In the embodiment according to FIGS. 1 to 3, 1 designates a plate intended to be fixed to the wall and having, near its front edge, a longitudinal groove 2 extending from one end of the plate to the other. This groove is open at the bottom. In its middle, the plate has a transverse groove 6 which extends from the groove 2 to the rear of the plate.
In the groove 2 is housed with clearance a bar in the form of an inverted T 3, the ends of which barely feel the plate 1 and are fixed, for example by welding, each to one of the ends of an arm 4 articulated in 5 to the plateau. A pin (not shown) is planted in the plate and determines the rest position of the assembly formed by the bar 3 and the two arms 4, a position in which the bar 3 comes flush with the underside of the plate while 'a certain space is left between the upper face of the bar and the bottom of the groove 2.
The bar is thus invisible; moreover, the arms 4 could also be made invisible by housing them in a transverse groove made in the plate near each end face.
The bar 3 carries, at its midpoint, an arm 7 which is housed in the aforementioned groove 6. A bracket 8 fixed under the plate 1, to the right of the groove 6, supports a push-button switch 11, this push-button being located below the free end of the arm 7. The conductors 13 arriving at the switch are connected to a plug intended to be inserted into a wall socket; the conductors 12 from the switch are connected to a female plug cooperating with the male plug of a bedside lamp (not shown).
15 designates the head of the bed and 14 a slat fixed under the tray and against which the head 15 abuts when the bed is in place. When you want to turn on the bedside lamp, you can find bar 2 without hesitation and push it into the groove. This bar rotates around the articulation axis 5 and moves with it the arm 7, the free end of which describes an arc of a circle, the center of which is on the axis 5 and comes to occupy the position indicated in broken lines on fig. 3; during this movement, the arm 7 depresses the pusher 11 thus closing the switch. The lamp lights up. The bar is released, and the lever thus allows the push-button 11 to rise, which has no effect on the lamp.
The following operation of the bar similarly causes the extinction of the lamp.
It is clear that the same switch could control two bedside lamps. One could also provide, in the case of twin beds with two bedside lamps, two bars (one in each half of the groove) each controlling a switch. Provision is also made for the bar 3 to carry more than two arms 4 or else to mount the arm 7 on a pivot coaxial with the axis 5, this to prevent the bar 3 from flexing under its own weight.
In the embodiment shown partially in FIG. 4, the groove for a bar 17 (the equivalent of bar 3 of the first example) is made in an L-shaped slat 16 which is applied against the edge of a plate which is thus slightly widened; the groove has a T-shaped straight section and the bar 17 also has a T-shaped profile. The vertical leg 18 of the bar 17 slightly protrudes the opening of the groove and is knurled on the edge.
The switch, for example of the evening push type, is housed in one end of the slat 16 with its pusher in the axis of the bar 17. In this case, by sliding the bar 17, the in. - switch, once for switching on and once for switching off. It is also possible to provide two switches, one at each end, and to actuate one or the other depending on the direction of movement of the bar 17. To unload the spring of the push-button of the switch, a return spring can be provided. the bar in the rest position.
A switch can also be mounted under the shelf of the shelf, the sliding bar then being provided with a finger or transverse arm acting on the push button of this switch.
