Description

Float for a pneumatic floating device The present invention relates to a float for a pneumatic floating device, in particular intended for boats called catamarans which include two spindle-shaped pneumatic floats and are particularly suitable for sport or pleasure navigation.

The float forming the subject of the invention is characterized in that it comprises, inside an inflatable main envelope, a sealed envelope capable of being inflated independently of the first and intended to ensure the lift of the machine when the main envelope is punctured.

Such an arrangement adds an additional safety advantage to the ease of use offered by inflatable catamarans. These facilities are well known: stability, simplicity, low weight, and in particular they have led to the recommendation of the use of the inflatable float catamaran for learning to sail.

The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the float forming the subject of the invention.

Fig. 1 is a partial perspective view of a catamaran provided with this embodiment of the float.

Fig. 2 is a view in horizontal median section of one of the floats of the catamaran of FIG. 1. FIG. 1 shows a float catamaran of a well-known general type, comprising a frame 1 provided with a deck 2 intended to receive the passengers and secured to the two support floats 3 by straps 4. The frame can also be fitted with a mast 6 with sail 7 and a pivot center fin 8.

This frame and its accessories are advantageously removable so that the assembly can be easily transported, the floats being deflated, in particular on the roof of a car.

Each of the floats 3 consists of two envelopes 9 and 11, as seen in FIG. 2. The inner casing 9 is a cylindrical safety casing and the outer casing 11, or main casing, has the usual tapered shape of catamaran floats. Each envelope is constituted by two half-envelopes joined by their edges 12, 13 by means of seams 14, 15.

Each of the envelopes comprises an inflation valve 16 or 17, the internal inflation valve 16 passing through the external envelope 11. The outlet of the valve of the internal envelope is in a position juxtaposed to that of the valve of the external envelope. , so that the inflation of the two envelopes can be carried out successively without having to change position.

In the drawing, the internal envelope is assumed to be joined to the external envelope by a continuous pipe 18, but this arrangement is not necessary, the valve of the internal envelope being able simply to pass through the external envelope in a sealed manner without the tubu lure 18 connecting the valve 16 to the internal envelope is, by manufacture, joined to the internal envelope.

The two envelopes are made from the same material as the usual floats and tire mattresses, for example cotton or nylon coated with vulcanized rubber.

The manufacture of these floats does not pose any particular problem. The completed internal envelope is placed, except for vulcanization, in the partially open external envelope then the whole is subjected to the usual vulcanization, after which the two edges of the external envelope are folded down and they are sewn so as to seal the outer casing.

To make it possible to secure the framework of the catama ran on the floats, the straps, visible in FIG. 1. You can also fix eyelets on the selvedges to attach the straps.
