Coupling between two links whose axes intersect at an angle and using the coupling
The invention relates to a coupling for connecting the mutually facing ends of two rotating members serving for conveying materials in the axial direction, the axes of which intersect at an angle.
Such a coupling, in the form of a so-called universal joint coupling, is already known for this purpose. But if such a coupling z. B. was arranged in a conveyor trough system, the conveying effect is hindered at the point of the coupling because there is no good transition of the material past the coupling. This disadvantage of the known universal joint coupling is particularly important when, for. B. plastic and especially very tough, fast-hardening materials are transported or mixed. Although the poor conveying effect could be improved to some extent in individual cases by providing the coupling with wings on the side, the universal joint coupling was still not satisfactory.
The aim of the invention is to create a coupling of the above type in which there can be no disturbance of the conveyance from one link to the other.
The coupling is characterized according to the invention in that the mutually facing ends of the two links are articulated to one another by means of a coupling link which is designed so that the conveying of the materials is not interrupted.
The invention also relates to a use of the coupling according to the invention, which use is characterized in that the coupling serves to connect at least two conveyor screws which are arranged in a conveyor trough or in a mixing vessel.
In the drawing, an embodiment of the coupling according to the invention is shown. Show it:
1 shows a section through a mixing vessel with two screw conveyors, which are connected by a coupling according to the invention, and
2 shows a perspective view of the coupling between the two screws on a larger scale.
In a conical mixing vessel 1, a shaft 3 is mounted in the bottom 2, which is provided inside the vessel 1 with a screw or a screw blade 4, while outside the mixing vessel to drive the shaft a pulley 5 is wedged on this shaft. A second shaft 6 is also set up parallel to the opposite part of the jacket of the mixing vessel, and this shaft carries a screw blade or a screw 7.
In the middle at the top of the mixing vessel there is mounted a drive shaft 8 which rotates the upper end of the shaft 6 around the axis of the vessel by means of a crank arm 9. The lower end of the screw 4 is designed here as a scraper and therefore moves hard over the bottom of the vessel.
Of course, the drive of the shaft 3 can also be done from the shaft 6, for. B. by the upper end of the shaft 6 is driven directly by an electric motor attached to the crank arm 9. Of course, other drive arrangements are also possible.
The coupling of the two worms or screw blades 7 and 4, the axes of which (axes of rotation) intersect at an angle, is composed of a leaf-shaped rigid connector 10 which is connected to the screw blade 4 and the screw benblatt 7 by hinge members 11 and 12. The screw blade 4 can have a very small height.
For the purpose of explaining the assembly of the coupling, the latter is shown on an enlarged scale in FIG. 2.
The axes of the joint organs 11 and 12 intersect at the intersection of the axes of the shafts 3 and 6 and are offset from one another by 900 the same as z. B. the two joint axes of a cross coupling.
Although a conventional articulated connection is shown in FIG. 2, it is clear that any articulated or flexible connection between the connecting piece 10 and the screw blades 4 and 7 can be used.
The coupling is applied here to a particularly advantageous embodiment of a mixing and conveying device, the shaft 6, in addition to revolving around its own axis, also revolving around the axis of the shaft 3. However, the coupling can also advantageously be used for screw conveyors in conveyor troughs in which the conveying direction ends.
During the rotation of the shaft 3 and the associated rotation of the following parts and the rotation of the shaft 13 around the axis of the mixing vessel 1 achieved by means of the crank arm 9, the helical-blade-shaped connecting piece 10 makes a rotating and slightly swaying movement and thus guides what is to be mixed and at the same time material to be transported up or down, depending on the direction of travel of the propeller blades.
The coupling also allows a solution to the problem relating to the arrangement of a distribution element in the vessel. So far, such distribution organs have been arranged in the wall of the vessel, with the result that the rotating screw had to remain at a considerable distance from the vessel wall.
In the case of the mixing and conveying device described above, a distribution element 13 is attached to the end 14 of a hollow feed shaft 15 which runs inside the hollow shaft 3.
The end 14 is z. B. designed as a nozzle and on the other end of the hollow shaft 15, a pulley 16 is wedged, which z .B. is driven by an electric motor.
In operation, the shaft 3 rotates at a fairly low speed, whereas the hollow shaft 15, e.g. B. directly driven by a high-speed electric motor, with a considerably higher speed. As a result of the special arrangement of the coupling, which is located outside the boundary of the distributor member 13, this can rotate within the space that is not traversed by the connector.
This arrangement achieves an extremely favorable mixture of the material and, at the same time, a distribution of liquids or other substances which are introduced into the vessel through the hollow conveying shaft 3. It should be noted that the shaft 6 only needs to be mounted in the crank arm by means of a slide bearing 17 and therefore any stops on the shaft are superfluous.
In some cases it may also be desirable to arrange a second mixing and conveying screw on the circumference of the screw blades 4 and 7, the direction of flow of which is opposite to that of the conveying screw located within the same, while its coupling takes place in the same way as described above.
