Gas heating apparatus The object of the invention is a gas heating apparatus; which can be, for example, a domestic radiator, in particular a mobile radiator without evacuation, using as fuel a liquefied gas fied under pressure, such, for example, as butane.
The gas heating apparatus according to the invention comprises a shut-off valve subjected to the action of a safety device, preferably with bimetallic strip, guaranteeing automatic closing of said valve in the event of the flame going out. 'an auxiliary burner with additional air intake connected to the appliance supply duct downstream of the aforesaid shut-off valve.
It is known that one. such an additional air intake makes it more difficult, and sometimes even impossible, to start the auxiliary burner cold because of the excess dosage of the combustion air, or the composition of the gas mixture contained, for example, in the bottle liquefied gas; the composition of the air layer on this liquefied gas during the first commissioning also has an influence.
In other words, there is incompatibility, for lack of special precautions, between the ease of cold ignition of the auxiliary burner which requires a mixture rich in combustible gas, and the sensitivity of the flame of said burner to the gas content. carbon dioxide of the ambient atmosphere, sensitivity which necessitates an impoverishment of the aforesaid mixture.
The object of the invention is precisely to remedy this drawback, that is to say to eliminate the aforesaid incompatibility and for this purpose the apparatus according to the invention is characterized in that the aforesaid burns their auxiliary is provided shutter means making it possible to at least partially mask its additional air intake,
these shutter means being used for the flame of the auxiliary burner so that the aforesaid air intake is unmasked when the aforesaid flame is ignited and at least partially masked when the flame in question is extinguished, so as to render easier cold ignition of the auxiliary burner.
The accompanying drawing shows by way of example an embodiment of the apparatus which is the subject of the invention.
Fig. 1 shows, in front view with parts cut away, of the apparatus of this embodiment consisting of a mobile butane gas heater. FIGS. 2 and 3 show, on a larger scale, respectively in elevation and in plan, a safety device of the aforesaid mobile radiator,
the various organs of this device being represented in the positions which they occupy before the ignition of the radiator.
Fig. 4, finally, shows in elevation the same safety device whose members are shown, this time, the radiator on.
The apparatus shown comprises a housing 1 in which is arranged, on the one hand, a butane gas cylinder 2 provided with a valve 3 and, on the other hand, a main burner, consisting of a ramp 4, connected to the aforesaid bottle 2 via a supply duct 5:
On the supply duct 5 is arranged a shut-off valve 6 provided with an operating member 7 constantly urged towards its rest position (corresponding to the closing of the shut-off valve 6) by a return means consisting of a spring 8.
Near this tap 6, which is itself located near one of the ends. of the ramp 4, an auxiliary burner 9 is provided connected to the supply duct 5 downstream of the valve 6, the aforesaid auxiliary burner is walled with an additional air intake formed by three orifices 10,
this additional air intake being dimensioned so that the flame of the aforesaid auxiliary burner 9 takes off and goes out when the composition in the ambient atmosphere has the dangerous characteristics from which it is desired that the radiator is extinguished.
This shut-off valve 6 is controlled by a safety device exposed to the action of the flame of the burner their auxiliary 9 and arranged so as to prevent the shut-off valve 6 from closing, as long as the aforesaid flame is lit,
but the aforesaid device causing on the contrary the closing of the aforesaid valve under the action of the spring 8 when the flame in question is extinguished.
Such a safety device is constituted, as shown in FIGS. 2 and 3, by a bimetallic strip 11 held at its ends by a support part 12 on which is also mounted a stop member 13 preventing any untimely deformation of the aforesaid bimetallic strip in the direction of the burner flame and ensuring precise cold positioning of the biblade in question,
the latter carrying in its central region a stud 14 suitable for playing the role of vis-à-vis stop. a lug 15 integral with the movable element of the shut-off valve 6, when the latter is in the open position (case of FIG. 4).
It will suffice, after having brought the operating member 7 of the shut-off valve 6 to the open position, to light the auxiliary burner 9 and to wait while maintaining the said member in the open position until the bimetallic strip 11 is deformed and that the stud 14 carried by said bimetallic strip has passed from its rest position (mon trée, fig. 2)
to its active position (shown in fig. 4) for which it prevents the movable element of the shut-off valve 6 from returning to its closed position, which allows (user to then abandon the operating member 7 of the aforesaid tap.
The apparatus being thus in working order, if there is an extinction of the flame of the burner their auxiliary 9 due for example to an increase in the content of (carbon dioxide atmosphere, the bimetallic strip 11 returns to its rest position , the stud 14 releases the lug 15 and the shut-off valve 6 is automatically returned, by the spring 8, to its closed position for which the main burner 4 of the radiator ceases to be supplied.
It should be noted that if it is desired to cause a voluntary shutdown of the device, it will suffice to close valve 3, the shut-off valve 6 then closing automatically, by the process just described, from the causes the closing of the aforementioned valve 3 to lag (extinction of the flame of the auxiliary burner 9.
The section of the air intake is determined so as to extinguish the flame of the auxiliary burner for a determined carbon dioxide content. (considered as limit not to be exceeded) of (ambient atmosphere.
To. to facilitate ignition of the auxiliary burner 9, a shutter, such as a cap 16, is associated with the latter, making it possible to mask at least partially (for example at 75%)
its additional air intake 10 and this shutter 16 is slaved to the flame of the auxiliary burner 9 so that said shutter is in the closed position when the aforesaid burner is not lit and that the On the contrary, lighting of the latter leads to the erasure of the aforesaid shutter.
This control is achieved by means of the bimetal device 11 controlling the stop valve 6.
This shutter 16 is carried by one end of an angled lever 17 articulated by means of a pin 18 on the bimetallic strip holder 12 and arranged so as to tend towards a position of equilibrium (under the faction of gravity and / or under that of return means) corresponding to the closed position of the aforesaid shutter 16 (position shown in FIG. 2).
The other end of this bent lever 17 is located on the path, deformation of the bimetallic strip 11 in such a way that the latter, once the auxiliary burner 9 is lit, forces the aforesaid lever to move down and thus pass the shutter 16 from its closed position to its open position, shown in fig. 4.
In this way, when you want to put the appliance into action: the air intake 10 is three quarters hidden and there is no difficulty in igniting the auxiliary burner 9, whatever the content of carbon dioxide from the ambient atmosphere, and, once (appliance lit, the flame of the aforesaid auxiliary burner 9 has the desired sensitivity to the carbon dioxide content of the atmosphere, since the air intake 10 is then located fully unmasked.
In a variant, the ramp 4 can be ignited directly by the flame of the auxiliary burner 9, this result is obtained by providing, in the end of the aforesaid ramp located on the side of the aforesaid burner, a few small orifices constituting both relays ignition for the propagation of the flame to the main orifices of the manifold 4.
