Device for controlling the engagement of automatic clutches of motor vehicles The invention relates to a device for controlling the coupling process of automatically operated clutches for motor vehicles, according to the patent claim of the main patent no. 344314, and is primarily applicable to automatic clutches in which the disengagement and engagement process takes place while driving for the purpose of switching the transmission by suction air or oil pressure. In such systems there are control devices that cause a gradual and soft gripping of the clutch after the shift, as long as the driver does not accelerate.
In order to prevent the engine from running away when the engine is immediately accelerated after the gear shift, the known devices have additional control means that accelerate the engagement process under these conditions.
These control means for accelerating the coupling process are partly mechanically actuated by coupling the control valve for the automatic coupling to the accelerator pedal or the throttle linkage, or they are controlled with the help of the suction pipe negative pressure of the engine, namely because that, the in the event of a sudden gas:
give a sharp drop in the engine negative pressure via a membrane, which accelerates the engagement of the clutch. According to Swiss Patent No. 344314, devices are known in which the speed of the clutch engagement after the gear shift is influenced by the acceleration and deceleration of the vehicle itself, with the aid of a control mass that changes under the influence of deceleration and acceleration of the vehicle and has the effect that an acceleration of the clutch engagement does not occur or is slowed down as long as the vehicle is decelerated.
The purpose of the present invention is to create a device for accelerating the re-engagement process after the gear shift, which is very simple and therefore cheap to produce and above all causes a sensitive and continuous acceleration of the engagement process. The invention consists in that the acceleration of the clutch engagement is effected by a control mass that is influenced by the acceleration of the vehicle and on a control member, for.
B. a reducing valve, the clutch control acts.
In Figs. 1 and 2 an embodiment of a device according to the invention is shown in the form of a certain th control device for vacuum actuation of the clutch in two working positions, while Fig. 3 shows an example of an actuation of the clutch by compressed air or pressure oil, in which by means of a control mass under the effect of the acceleration of the vehicle, a gradual increase in the flow cross-section for the medium actuating the clutch is created.
In Fig. 1 and 2, 1 denotes the housing of the control valve for clutch actuation. 2 shows an electromagnet which is energized when the gear shift lever is actuated and which is connected to a valve disk 4 via an armature 3. As long as the magnet is de-energized, this armature is pressed by a spring 5 onto the valve seat 6 in the housing 1 and closes off the channel 7, which is in communication with the intake line of the driving engine. The channel 8 is connected to the servomotor which actuates the clutch, while the opening 9 connects to the atmosphere.
This opening 9 is closed by a reducing valve 10, which is closed by a spring 11, the tension of which is verän via an adjusting screw 12. At the lower part of the Ven tilgehäuses designed as a pendulum rule mass 13 is arranged, which is pivotable about an axis 14 bar. The pendulum has a shorter lever arm 15 which is connected to the reducing valve 10 via a pressure piece 16.
The control valve is arranged in the vehicle in such a way that the plane of oscillation of the pendulum comes to lie approximately in the direction of travel and in such a way that it occurs when the vehicle accelerates. Swings out to the right and exerts a pressure on the valve 10 via the pressure piece 16 which, at maximum acceleration, can be so great that the tension of the spring 11 is overcome and the valve 10 is opened.
The operation of this device is fol lowing As long as the magnet 2 is not energized, so as long as the gear shift lever is not actuated, the valve 4 closes the suction line to the motor and the servomotor is via the channel 8 and a small nozzle hole 17 with the atmosphere in connection. The servomotor is thus ventilated and the clutch is fully engaged. At the moment when the switch lever is actuated, an electrical contact is closed, the magnet 2 is excited and the valve 4 is pressed against the seat 18 in the housing 1 by overcoming the tension of the spring 5 and thus connects the suction line 7 via the channel 8 with the servo motor.
As a result, the servo motor disengages the clutch under the effect of the engine negative pressure. After the end of the switching process, the circuit for the magnet 2 is interrupted when the gear shift lever is released, whereby the valve 4 is pressed against the seat 6 in the housing 1 again under the action of the spring 5 and the connection between the servomotor and An suction motor of the motor is interrupted. At the same time the connection of the servomotor connection 8 with the reducing valve 10 and the nozzle bore 17 is established.
The reducing valve 10 raised by the negative pressure now causes the negative pressure in the servomotor to be reduced very quickly to a level determined by the tension of the spring 11. The setting of the spring 11 is made in such a way that the level of the negative pressure determined by the tension of this spring causes a partial engagement of the clutch with only a slight torque and thus the clutch begins to grasp very softly.
As long as the driver does not accelerate the motor, the pendulum 13 has no effect on the reducing valve 10 and the rest of the vacuum still existing in the servomotor is slowly built up via the nozzle 17, so that the clutch is gradually full within a few seconds comes to the intervention.
At the moment when the driver accelerates after shifting the gearbox, the vehicle is accelerated as soon as the engine speed exceeds the speed of the output shaft, with the relatively small torque transmitted by the clutch at that moment.
By this Be acceleration of the vehicle a force is exerted on the pendulum mass 13 against the direction of travel, so on the figure to the right, which exerts pressure on the R: eduzierventil 10 against the force of the spring 11 via the lever arm 15 and the pressure piece 16 , d. H. This pressure reduces the closing pressure on the valve 10 and thus the negative pressure in the servomotor is reduced more quickly than would occur through the nozzle 17. The greater the acceleration of the vehicle, the faster this vacuum reduction takes place and this vacuum reduction takes place steplessly and sensitively, so that the clutch engagement is practically jerk-free and according to the driver's will.
This type of connection of a pendulum mass with a reducing valve can of course also be used for automatic clutches in which the servo motor is actuated by compressed air or oil pressure. All that is required is a change in the arrangement of the reducing valve or the position of the connecting channels.
In Fig. 3, a valve for a compressed air or oil pressure-actuated clutch is shown as an example. Here a magnet 20 is present, which z. B. brings the compressed air line 25 with the lead to the servomotor the line 26 in connection as soon as the valve disk 22 is pressed against the seat 27 in the housing 19 while overcoming the force of the spring 23. As soon as the circuit for the control magnet 20 is interrupted, the spring 23 pushes the valve plate 22 back onto the seat 24, ie in the gezeich designated position, and the compressed air can now blow off the servomotor via an adjustable nozzle opening 29 with the needle valve 28 .
The clutch engagement takes place very slowly via this needle valve, so that the clutch engages smoothly. When the vehicle accelerates, the pendulum 30 rotatable about point 31 will now release an additional throughflow opening 32, gradually via the tapering end of a needle 33 which is connected to the short lever arm 34 of the pendulum. It is also here, as in the first example, that as long as the vehicle is not accelerated, the clutch engagement is only controlled by the needle valve 28 and takes place at a predetermined speed.
At the moment when the engine speed exceeds the speed of the output shaft, an acceleration of the vehicle occurs, which moves the pendulum 13 against the direction of travel, i.e. to the right, whereby the needle 33 is moved to the left and the opening 32 gradually releases, which causes a loading acceleration of the clutch engagement.
The particular advantage of the shown Vorrichtun gene according to the invention is that the loading of the clutch engagement is stepless, so very gradually and thereby shocks are avoided and continue to be particularly simple. The valve equipped with a pendulum control of the type described requires no further connec tion, be it mechanical type, such as.
B. with the throttle linkage, or with the help of a hose with the immediate engine negative pressure or additional electrical connections to the drive axle of the vehicle to exploit the reaction forces generated during acceleration for the control of the coupling process. When the vehicle is decelerated, the pendulum 13 does not act on the valve 10 (FIGS. 1 and 2) or on the needle 33 (FIG. 3) in such a way that the opening 32 remains closed, so that in both cases the coupling accelerates lung intervention did not take place.
