Process for the preparation of copper-containing disazo dyes It has been found that valuable copper-containing azo dyes are obtained if. Disazo dyes of the general composition:
RN = N-Ri- NH-CO-HN-R.- N = N-R3 where R is a residue of the naphthallin series which contains at least one solubilizing group, R1 is an aromatic residue, the azo bridge in the p-position represents the amino group, R2 represents the remainder of a naphthalene,
which carries a hydroxyl group in the o-position to the azo bridge, and R .; stands for an aromatic radical which has a metal complex-forming group in the o-position to the azo bridge, treated with copper-releasing agents.
Metal-free dyes of the specified composition can be obtained by the process of German Patent No. 871000. The component R of the above formula can, for example, from 2, amino-naphthalene-4,8-disulfonic acid or 1-amino-8-oxynaphthalene-3,6-disulfonic acid, the component R1, for example, from 1-amino-3-methyl- benzene, 1-amino-2,5-dimethyl-benzal,
1-Amino-2 methoxy-5-methyl-benzene or 4-amino-naphthaa-7-sulfonic acid, R, for example from 2-amino-5-oxynaphthalene-7-sulfonic acid or 2-amino-8-oxy- naphthalene-6-sulfonic acid and R3 z.
B. of 1-amino-2-oxy-3-chloro-benzene-5-su, ifonic acid, 2-amino-1-oxy-naphthalin-4-sulfonic acid, 1-amino-2-methoxy-benzene-5 - sulfonic acid, 1-amino-3-chlorobenzene-6-carboxylic acid or 1-amino-2-oxy-5-chlorobenzene. Oxy, alkoxy and carboxy groups may be mentioned as groups of component R3 which form metal complexes.
The metal-free disazo dyes are best converted into their copper complexes by treatment with soluble copper compounds, preferably at elevated temperature, in an acidic or alkaline medium.
The copper-containing dyes that can be obtained in this way dye cotton and regenerated cellulose in predominantly red-brown, bordo-red to red-violet tones. The dyeings are characterized by very good lightfastness.
Example 1 68.7 parts by weight of the mixed urea obtained by the method of German patent specification No. 871000 from the monoazo color, toff 2- (4'-amino-6'-methylbenzene-1'-azo ) - naphthalene-4, 8-disulphonic acid derived phenyl urethane and 2-amino-5-oxy-naphthalene-7-sulphonic acid are produced in an alkaline medium with 22,
4 parts of diazotized 1-amino-2-oxy-3-chlorobenzene-5-sulfonic acid, expediently in 10 0 / a aqueous pyridine solution, combined. The resulting disazo dye is deposited and isolated by acidifying the solution.
The isolated dye is dissolved in water and converted into its copper complex compound by heating with 25 parts by weight of crystallized copper sulfate to 50-60 ° C. for 1 hour. It is then isolated and dried as usual.
The dye obtained in this way is a brown powder which is easily soluble in water and which dyes tree, water and regenerated cellulose in lightfast red-brown tones.
Example 2 71.8 parts by weight of the mixed urea obtained by the method of German Patent No. 871000 from the phenyl urethane of the monoazo dye 1- (4'-amino-3'-methoxy-6'- methylbenzene- 1'-azo) - 8-benzenesulfonyloxy-naphthalene - 3,6-disulfonic acid and 2-amino-5-oxy-naphthalene-7-sulfonic acid are available with 22,
4 parts by weight of diacotized 1-amino-2-oxy-3-chloro-benzene-5-sulfonic acid combined in an alkaline medium. After cleavage of the benzenesulfonic acid ester by treating the dye solution with sodium hydroxide solution, for which 2-3% sodium hydroxide is required - based on the volume of the solution,
Acetic acid is used to make acidic for 1/2 hour at 70-80 C. To this end, a solution of 25 parts by weight of crystallized copper sulfate in about twice the amount of hot water is added and the temperature is kept at 50-60 ° C. for about 1/ "hour. Then, as usual, it is isolated and dried.
The copper plating can also be carried out in an ammoniacal medium with the same success. The dye obtained is a dark brown, water-soluble powder. It dyes cotton and regenerated cellulose in bordeaux red shades with very good lightfastness.
A dye with the same properties is obtained if the above mixed urea is first treated with sodium hydroxide solution to split off the benzenesulfonic acid, the dye is then combined with dianotated 1-amino-2-oxy-3-chlorobenzene-5-sulfonic acid and now converted into the copper complex in the manner indicated.
Example 3 70.2 parts by weight of the mixed urea from the phenyl urethane of the monoazo dye 1- (4'-ami, no - 3 ', 6' - dimethyl-benzene-1'-azo) -. 8-benzenesulfonyl-oxy-naphthalene 3,6-disulfonic acid and 2-amino-5-oxynaphtha-Iin-7-sulfonic acid are dissolved in an alkaline medium with 23,
4 parts by weight of dianotized 1-amino-2-oxy-3-nitro-benzene-5-sulfonic acid coupled. As indicated in Example 2, the benzenesulfonic acid is split off by treatment with sodium hydroxide solution and then the disazo dye is converted into its NEN copper complex and then isolated and dried in the usual way.
The dark brown powder obtained is readily soluble in water and dyes cotton and regenerated cellulose in lightfast brown-red shades.
Example 4 70.2 parts by weight of the urea mentioned in example 3 are combined with 23.9 parts by weight of diazotized 2-amino-1-oxynaphth: aline-4-sulfonic acid as an alkali. After the benzenesulfonic acid ester has been cleaved with sodium hydroxide solution, the disazo dye, as described in Example 2, is copperized, isolated and dried.
The dye obtained is a dark brown, water-soluble powder which dyes cotton and regenerated cellulose in bordeaux red shades with very good lightfastness. Example 5 71.8 parts by weight of the mixed urea mentioned in Example 2 are converted into the disazo dye with 14.4 parts by weight of diazotized 1-amino-2-oxy-5-chlorobenzene. The dye obtained in this way is, as described in Example 2, treated with sodium hydroxide solution, coppered, isolated and dried.
The brown powder obtained dissolves easily in water and dyes cotton and regenerated cellulose in lightfast red-brown shades.
Example 6 71.8 parts by weight of the urea described in Example 2 are combined in an alkaline manner with 20.3 parts by weight of dia-noted 1-amino-2-methoxy-benzene-5-sulfonic acid and the metal-free disazo dye is thoroughly washed about 8 hours of refluxing with 25 parts by weight of crystallized copper sulfate in a weakly acidic medium converted into the corresponding copper complex compound.
The water-soluble, brown powder obtained after drying dyes cotton and regenerated cellulose, lightfast brown-red.
Example 7 70.2 parts by weight of the mixed urea from the phenyl urethane of this monoazo dye 1 (4'-amino-3,6'-d'imethylbenzene-1'-azo) -8-benzenesulfonyl-oxy -naphthalene-3 ', 6-d'isulfonic acid and 2-amino-8-oxy-naphthalene-6-sulfonic acid are diazotized 1-amino-2-oxy-3-chlorobenzene with 22.4 parts by weight -5-sulfonic acid combined and subjected to ester cleavage according to the information in Example 2,
then converted into the copper complex and then isolated and dried.
The dye obtained is a dark brown, water-soluble powder which dyes cotton and regenerated cellulose in red-brown shades.
Example 8 81.9 parts by weight of the mixed urea from the phenyl urethane of the monoazo dye 1- (4 '-, amino-7' -, sulfo-naphthalene-1'-azo) @ 8 -benzenesulfonyl- Oxy-naphthalene-3,6-disulfonic acid and 2-amino-5-oxy-naphthalene-7-sulfonic acid are coupled as usual with 17.2 parts by weight of 1-amino-3-chlorobenzene-6-carboxylic acid, the benzene:
The sulfonic acid ester group is saponified with sodium hydroxide solution, and the disazo dye obtained is coupled, isolated and dried.
The dye obtained, which is a brown, water-soluble powder, dyes cotton and regenerated cellulose in lightfast red-brown shades.
