EMI0001.0072

Process for the preparation of monoazo dyes It has been found that new valuable, water-insoluble azo dyes are obtained if a diazotized amine is combined with a monoamine of the benzene series which couples in the p-position to the amino group and in whose amino group at least one hydrogen atom is replaced by one Cyanalkoxyalkylrest is replaced,
the components being free from acidic water-solubilizing groups.
The diazo components used are preferably mono- or bicyclic aromatic or heterocyclic amines. Of the aromatic amines, those of the benzene series may be mentioned in particular, for example unsubstituted aniline, but above all the ring-substituted anilines. Suitable substituents include: alkyl groups, in particular methyl or ethyl groups, substituted alkyl groups, eg.
B. trifluoromethyl groups or acyl groups, for example acetyl groups, alkoxy groups, especially methoxy, ethoxy or cyanoethoxy groups, halogen atoms such as chlorine or bromine atoms, modified carboxylic acid groups such as.
B. carboxyalkyl groups, especially carboxymethoxy groups, carboxamide groups or cyano groups, thiocyano groups, nitro groups, aliphatic acylamino groups, alkylsulfone groups, in particular methylsulfone, chloromethylsulfone, trifluoromethylsulfone or cyanoethylsulfone groups,
Sulfonamide groups or sulfonic acid fluoride groups.
Heterocyclic amines are also suitable as di-a7okomponente for the present process, in particular aminothiazoles or aminobenzothiazoles. The following amines are examples:
2-amino-6-methylsulfonyl-benzothiazole 2-amino-6-nitro-benzothiazole 2-amino-6-methoxy-benzothiazole 2-amino-5-nitro-thiazole 2-amino-5-cyano-thiazole 2-amino-5 -carbethoxy-thiazole 2-amino-4-methyl-5-cyano-thiazole 2-amino-4,5-dicyano-thiazole 2-amino-5-nitro-thio (1) -diazole- (3, -4) as Azo components are preferably amines of the formula
EMI0001.0072
into consideration, where R1 is a hydrogen atom,
an alkyl, oxyalkyl, alkoxyalkyl, acyloxyalkyl, halogen alkyl, cyanoalkyl radical or the radical of the formula -CH., CH..OCH2CH, CN, R., a hydrogen atom, an alkyl, trifluoromethyl, alkoxy, Cyanethoxy or aliphatic acylamino group and R3 is a hydrogen atom,
an alkyl or alkoxy group. Examples of suitable azo components are:. N- (ss-cyano-ethoxyethyl) -aniline N-methyl-N- (ss-cyano-ethoxyethyl) -aniline N-ethyl-N- (ss-cyano-ethoxyethyl) -aniline N-butyl-N- (ss- cyan-ethoxyethyl) -aniline N-oxyäthyl-N- (ss-cyano-ethoxyethyl) -aniline N-methoxyethyl-N- (ss-cyano-ethoxyethyl) -aniline N-ethoxyethyl-N- (ss-cyano-ethoxyethyl) - aniline N-cyanoethyl-N- (ss-cyano-ethoxyethyl)
-aniline N-bis- (ss-cyano-ethoxyethyl) -aniline N- (ss, ss-difluoro-ethyl) -N-ss-cyano-ethoxyethyl-aniline 1- [N-ethyl-N- (ss-cyan- ethoxyethyl)] - amino-2,5-dimethyl-benzene 1- [N-ethyl-N- (ss-cyano-ethoxyethyl)] - amino-2-methoxy-5-methyl-benzo1 1- [N-ethyl-N - (ss-cyano-ethoxyethyl)] - 3-methyl-benzene 1- [N-ethyl-N- (ss-cyano-ethoxyethyl)] - 3-methoxy-benzene 1- [N-ethyl-N- (ss- cyano-ethoxyethyl)
] -3-acetylaminobenzene 1- [N-ethyl N- (ss-cyano-ethoxyethyl)] -3-chlorobenzene The azo components mentioned are mostly new compounds, which, however, are analogous to the American patent no. 2,326,721 for the preparation of the N- (ss-cyano-ethoxyethyl) -aniline known method by addition of acrylonitrile to oxyethylanilines.
The diazotization of the diazo components mentioned can be carried out by methods known per se, eg. B. with the help of mineral acid, especially hydrochloric acid and sodium nitrite or z. B. with a solution of nitrosylsulfuric acid in concentrated sulfuric acid.
The coupling can also be known per se, z. B. in neutral to acidic agents, if necessary in the presence of sodium acetate or the like, the coupling speed influencing send buffer substances or catalysts, such as. B. pyridine, respectively. its salts, are made.
After the coupling reaction, the dyes formed can easily from the coupling mixture, for. B. by filtration, because they are practically insoluble in water.
The new azo dyes obtained by the present process correspond to the formula AN = NB where A is the radical of a diazo component free of acidic water-solubilizing groups and B is a benzene radical free of acidic water-solubilizing groups, in whose amino group in p-position to the azo group at least one hydrogen atom is replaced by a cyanoalkoxyalkyl radical.
These new monoazo dyes contain as radical A preferably a mono- or bicyclic, aromatic or heterocyclic radical. They are very suitable for dyeing and printing structures, eg. B.
Fibers and fabrics made from cellulose esters and ethers, but above all for dyeing acetate synthetic silk, triacetate fibers made from linear polyester fibers and structures made from super-polyurethanes and super-polyamides, for example synthetic, linear polyamides and polyurethanes as well as blended fabrics made from polyamide and acetate synthetic-silk threads.
The dyes of the formula are of particular interest
EMI0002.0046
wherein X, Y, Z, R1, R, and R3 have the given meaning.
The dyeings produced on the structures mentioned with the new dyes are distinguished by the particular purity and liveliness of their hue and by good general fastness properties, in particular by high resistance to sublimation and good fastness to light and smoke gas.
In the following examples, unless otherwise specified, parts are parts by weight, percentages are percentages by weight, and the temperatures are given in degrees Celsius. Example 1 13.8 parts of 1-amino-4-nitro-benzene are dissolved in 30 parts of water and 30 parts of concentrated hydrochloric acid. After 80 parts of ice have been added, 6.9 parts of sodium nitrite are added and the mixture is stirred until the diazo solution is clear and almost colorless.
The diazo solution thus obtained is allowed to flow into a solution of 21.8 parts of N-ethyl-N- (ss-cyano-ethoxy-ethyl) aniline and 40 parts of 2N hydrochloric acid. By adding saturated sodium acetate solution, the dye is precipitated as a red powder, which dyes acetate silk, nylon, triacetate and terylene in sharp, laugh-red shades.
The N- (ss-cyano-ethoxyethyl) aniline used as the azo component in this example can be obtained as follows: 16.5 parts of N-ethyl-N- ('- oxy-ethyl) aminobenzene are mixed with 2 parts of sodium ethylate solution ( 5 parts of sodium in 100 parts of ethanol) and heated to 40 to 45. 10 parts of acrylonitrile are then added dropwise in such a way that the reaction temperature does not exceed 60 and the mixture is then left to stir at 40 to 45 for some time.
The crude product can be used directly (after the titer has been determined) for the production of dyes, or it can be prepared in the usual way by cleaning with water, drying and distillation.
The distilled product is a colorless liquid with a bp12 196 to 198.
The azo components used in the following examples can be obtained by the same process.
Example 2 17.25 parts of 1-amino-2-chloro-4-nitro-benzene who pour the portions into 60 parts of conc. Sulfuric acid, in which 6.9 parts of sodium nitrite were dissolved, entered. Pouring onto 400 parts of ice results in a clear, yellow solution. The diazo solution thus obtained is added to 21.8 parts of N-ethyl-N - (, ss-cyano-ethoxy-ethyl) aniline, as in Example 1. The resulting dye dyes acetate silk, nylon, triacetate and terylene in ruby red tones.
Example 3 21.6 parts of 1-amino-4-nitro-benzene-2-methyl-sulphone are diazotized and coupled as described in Example 2. The resulting dye dyes the fibers mentioned in Example 2 in blue-red shades. Example 4 20.5 parts of 1-amino-2-chloro-benzene-4-methyl-sulphone are introduced in portions into 60 parts of concentrated sulfuric acid in which 6.9 parts of sodium nitrite have been dissolved . Pouring onto 400 parts of ice produces a clear golden yellow solution.
The diazo solution thus obtained is allowed to slowly flow into a solution of 17.4 parts of N-ethyl-N- (fl-cyano-ethoxy-ethyl) -aminobenzene and 40 parts of 2N hydrochloric acid.
The resulting dye dyes acetate silk, nylon, triacetate, terylene in orange-red tones. Example 5 16.3 parts of 1-amino-2-cyano-4-nitro-benzene who are diazotized as in Example 2. This diazo solution is allowed to flow slowly into a solution of 24.3 parts of N-ß-propiononitrile-N- (ß-cyano-ethoxyethyl) -aniline and 40 parts of 2N hydrochloric acid. By adding saturated sodium acetate solution, the dye is precipitated from which acetate silk, nylon,
Triacetate and terylene colors in ruby red tones. Example 6 17.1 parts of 1-amino-benzene-4-methylsulfone, 25 parts of a 4N sodium nitrite solution and 30 parts of ice are concentrated in 40 parts of water with 25 parts. Hydrochloric acid added.
The golden yellow, clear diazo solution is slowly added to 24.8 parts of 1-N-methyl-1- [N- (ss-cyano-ethoxyethyl) -amino] -3-methyl-6-methoxy-benzene, which in 40 parts of 2n Hydrochloric acid is dissolved, flow. By adding saturated sodium acetate solution, the dye is precipitated, which dyes acetate silk, nylon, triacetate and terylene in orange-red tones.
The amines of column I mentioned in the table below, diazotized according to the details of this example and coupled with the azo components of column 1I, give dyes which dye acetate silk, nylon, triacetate and terylene in the shade specified in column III.
