Current source The present invention relates to an electrical current source, which includes both galvanic elements and electrical accumulators, and a special use of this current source. There are already Ni-Cd cells known in which the two active layers are housed in a metal container in such a way that the one layer rests on the container bottom, which so the one electrode bil det, while a metal lid on the other layer which forms the second electrode.
The problem solved by the present invention is to generally construct a galvanic primary element or an accumulator whose housing is completely tight so that there is no risk of the electrolyte leak. The current source, in which one of the two active layers lies on the bottom of a metal container, while the other is covered by a metal cover plate, with the container and cover plate forming the two connection electrodes, is characterized in that the edge of the Cover plate is provided with an insulation coating, rests on a shoulder of the inner container wall and is held there by a threaded ring screwed into the container.
Such a power source can be used, among other things, as a base for a clock, be it a pocket watch or a wristwatch, with the electrical energy being used either to drive the clockwork or to feed a lighting device or for purposes. The construction of a Jungerer cell according to the present invention is particularly advantageous.
The accompanying drawing shows part of a cross section through an inventive accumulator, which here has an external thread so that it can be used as a screw-in base for a clock. The metal container 1 is designated, on the bottom of which the NiOH layer 2 lies, which is separated from the Cd layer 4 by a separator 3. As a separator can lyten with the electric, so here with potassium hydroxide, soaked tissue, z. B. made of nylon can be used.
The Cd layer 4 is electrically insulated from the container 1 by a sleeve 5 made of an insulation material. On the Cd layer 4 is the cover plate 6, for. B. made of brass, the edge of which is provided with a U-shaped cross-section Isola tion coating 7, here for example a nylon ring, so that this cover plate 6, which forms the negative pole of the accumulator, from the container serving as a positive pole 1 is electrically isolated. It is of course necessary that the insulation coating is made of a material that is not attacked by the electrolyte.
The edge of the cover plate 6 rests on a shoulder la of the inner container wall and is held there by a screwed-in threaded ring 8, which has individual notches 8a into which a suitable tool can engage when screwing in Leakage of the electrolyte is prevented, so that such a battery can easily be used in any precision apparatus, such as clocks (pocket watches,
Wristwatches and alarm clocks) without endangering the sensitive parts. It is clear that any other voltage source, be it a Gaivan element or another accumulator, such as a lead accumulator or an Eclison element, can be sealed in a container according to the present invention.
