Trolley for handling transport pallets Various types are known. of trolleys, for the handling of transport pallets, such as forklifts and pallet transporters, moving on the ground by means of rollers, fixed to the front ends of arms integral with a frame arranged in below. a lifting fork, and one or more wheels fixed to the rear of this frame.
In some of these devices, these wheels are steered and controlled by means of a drawbar. In others, these wheels are mounted on supports offset as to their axis. In all these devices, the: diameter of. front rollers is generally too small to allow them to be easily moved on the ground, in particular when the ground is uneven.
The present invention relates to a trolley for handling transport pallets which does not have this drawback. This apparatus com takes a frame having two arms arranged below a fork for lifting the pallets and resting on the ground by at least two rolling rollers fixed to these arms and by at least one wheel fixed to the body of the frame. It is
characterized by the fact that it comprises removable means having wheels, of diameter greater than that of the rollers and means intended to raise the arms from the ground to allow the fixing of said removable means under the frame in order to make them support the load and to make the track rollers inactive.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the carriage which is the subject of the present invention, FIGS. 1 to 4 are side elevational views very schematically illustrating, in its various phases, the replacement of the track rollers by wheels of greater diameter; figs. 5 and 6 are views of the apparatus.
The carriage shown in the drawing is a fork lift which is constituted by a frame, comprising a mast 2 on which slides a slide 3 presenting a lifting fork 4, and arms 5 arranged below this fork.
This carriage rests on the ground by rollers 6 fixed to the arms, and by urge wheel 7 journaled to the frame. An axle 8 is removably attached to the lower part of the mast 2.
The movement of the slide 3 on the mast 2 can, for example, be controlled by a chain driven by a winch (not shown), with manual or hydraulic control, or alternatively, in a variant, by a rack device, motorized or not, also not shown.
The fork 4 and the arms 5 are formed by U-beams whose wings are directed towards the ground and which are dimensioned so that the fork can fit on the arms 5 when the slide 3 is in its lowest position. .
The track rollers 6 are pivoted at the end of levers 9 articulated on the arms 5; between the wings of each arm.
The angular position of these levers 9 can be modified by a set, not shown, of levers and transmission rods controlled, for example, by a hydraulic cylinder, also not shown, integral with the frame 1.
When the fork 4 rests on the. arms 5 and that the levers 9 are in the lowered position; the height of the roller-arm-fork assembly is less than the height of the opening of the pallets to be transported.
The wheel 7 is fixed to a: rod 10, slid in the frame 1, and one end of which is subjected to the action of a second hydraulic cylinder, also not shown. The yoke 7a carrying the axis of the wheel is artir abutment on the rod 10 so that this wheel can rotate freely around the axis of the rod.
The cylinder controlling the movement of the levers 9 and that controlling the movement of the rod 10 are both supplied by a pump, not shown.
In a first variant, not shown, the hydraulic supply circuit for these jacks could include a valve making it possible to put the supply section of one or the other jack out of service.
In a second variant, also not shown, each jack could be controlled by an autonomous pump.
In another variant, not shown, the rod 10 could be only a guide rod, the lifting of the frame 1 being controlled by a jack acting on the upper part of the yoke 7a of the wheel 7.
The ends of the axle 8 carry wheels 11 of relatively large diameter, for example wheels with a rim provided with a rubber bead. A handle 12 is attached to this axle.
To replace the rolling rollers 6 by the wheels 11 of larger diameter, the various jacks are supplied with oil so as to lift the carriage from the ground, by clockwise rotation of the lever 9 and by sliding the rod 10 in the frame 1.
The slider 3 is then raised so as to move the load transported away from the plane of the arms 5, then unhooks the axle 8 from the mast 2 and brings it, by driving it by the handle 12 on guide members not shown integral with the frame and arms, under the arms 5 to which it is fixed by means not shown.
The axle 8 can be fixed at different rights from these arms, taking into account the dimensions of the load transported, so that the center of gravity of this load is always inside the wheelbase of the front wheels. and rear of the device.
When axle 8 has joined the. desired position under the arms 5, the handle 12 comes into contact with a member 13, arranged on the frame for example on the yoke 7a, controlling the shutdown of the hydraulic lifting jacks of the device,
so as to lower the apparatus towards the ground and to make it rest on this one by the wheels of the axle 8 and by the rear wheel 7. The diameter of this wheel is less than that of the wheels of the axle 8 so that in this position the mast 2 and the pallet 4 are slightly tilted towards the rear of the appliance (fig. 4).
To make it possible to rotate in a confined space, this device could in a variant (FIG. 5) also comprise support rods 14 slid on the mast 2, controlled for example by a lever 15 and the ends of which would be provided with bearing balls 16.
In a second variant not shown, these rods could be controlled by hydraulic cylinders. The maneuverability of the truck can be increased by using as an axle a cross member 18 projecting laterally from the arms 5 and fixed to the lower part of these.
afterwards, the carriage is lifted by the hydraulic cylinders (fig. 6). The ends of this cross member 18 have two pivoting arms 19 in which the wheels 20 are pivoted.
This axle could have a handle 12 similar to that of axle 8 and be fixed to the mast 2, the carriage being placed on the wheels in a manner similar to that used for axle 8.
This trolley can be used interchangeably as an elevator or as a pallet transporter. In the latter case, we first engage the forks 4, the arms 5 and the rollers 6 in the opening of the pallet by passing the rollers over the reinforcements of this pallet,
then lifts the trolley and the pallet off the ground by supplying the hydraulic actuators for the rollers 6 and the wheel 7.
In yet other variants, the single wheel 7 fixed to the frame could be replaced by two pivoting wheels independent of one another or, if the carriage were to include a drive motor,
by wheels controlled by a differential.
