Suction device for milking machine
The invention relates to a suction device for a milking machine, with a teat cup made of rubber-elastic material which opens into a milk discharge line, and a milking sleeve surrounding the teat cup, and aims to achieve faster milking and better emptying of the udder.
The suction device according to the invention is characterized in that the teat cup is dimensioned such that during milking the teat tip rests against a narrowing part of the teat cup, only the front end of the teat being encompassed by the teat cup.
In the accompanying schematic drawing, FIG. 1 shows a longitudinal section through a known suction device, while FIG. 2 shows a longitudinal section through an embodiment of the suction device according to the invention.
The known suction device shown in FIG. 1 has a teat cup 1 made of rubber or the like, the height h of which is so great that it encompasses most of the teat 2 when milking. The teat cup 1 merges at the top into a head 3 which is provided with a sealing edge 4 which comes to lie at the transition point of the udder 5 to the teat 2, that is to say at the so-called teat root. At the bottom the teat cup opens into a milk drainage line 6, which is made in one piece with it.
In a variant, the teat cup and milk discharge line could also consist of several pieces that are somehow connected to one another.
The milking sleeve 7, which is preferably made of metal, engages with its upper edge in a groove 8 provided on the head 3 and with its lower edge in an outer groove 9 of the milk discharge line 6 and thereby seals the space between the teat cup and the milking sleeve from the atmosphere.
The sleeve 7 is also provided with a connection piece 10 which is connected to a line in which there is alternating atmospheric pressure and vacuum.
Since there is a constant vacuum in the line 6 and inside the teat cup 1, the teat cup 1 is compressed in the idle cycle, i.e. when there is atmospheric pressure in the space between the teat cup 1 and the milking sleeve 7, with the shape indicated by 1 'and shown in broken lines accepts.
In the working bact, that is to say when there is a vacuum between the teat cup 1 and the sleeve 7, the teat cup 1 assumes its normal position shown in FIG. 1; in this phase the milk is sucked off.
The suction device shown as an exemplary embodiment of the invention in FIG. 2 has a teat cup 1a surrounded by the milking sleeve 7a and made of rubber-elastic material, which narrows in its upper part 11 towards its lower part approximately conically.
The narrowed lower part of the teat cup, which opens into a milk discharge line 6, has an inside diameter d of 12-23 mm, e.g. B. about 18 mm.
During milking, the tip of the teat 2 now rests against the narrowing part 11 of the teat cup la, the height ha of which is 40-100 mm, e.g. B. is about 75 mm. As a result, only the front end of the teat 2 is encompassed by the teat cup 1a.
The sealing of the milk discharge line 6 under vacuum from the atmosphere takes place primarily through the tip of the teat 2 lying on the narrowing teat cup part and secondarily through the edge 4a of the head 3a. The wall of the narrowing part 11 of the teat cup is 2-5 mm thick, e.g. B. 3 mm, while including the wall thinner, z. B. is only 1.5 mm thick.
In the rest cycle, that is to say at atmospheric pressure between the milking sleeve 7a and the teat cup la, the teat cup la is therefore practically only compressed below the teat tip, as shown in dashed lines.
For the rest, the device according to FIG. 2 corresponds to that according to FIG. 1, but of course its milking sleeve 7a is considerably shorter than the milking sleeve 7.
Tests have shown that with the suction device according to FIG. 2 milked faster and the udder is emptied better than with the suction device according to FIG. 1. This can be explained as follows:
The edge 4 of the head 3 presses strongly under the influence of the vacuum prevailing inside the teat cup 1 on the transition point from the udder 5 to the teat 2, whereby the milk flow from the udder or from the so-called teat cistern into the teat canal is inhibited.
Since, according to FIG. 2, the pressure due to the vacuum is absorbed by the tip of the teat 2 resting on the narrowing part 11 and the edge 4a of the head 3a presses only weakly against the teat 2, the milk flow is not inhibited.
In the cup 1, the whole teat 2 is also surrounded by the vacuum, so that its blood vessels fill excessively with blood and thereby press on the teat canal, which also inhibits the outflow of milk.
In the teat cup 1 a, however, the vacuum only acts on the front end of the teat, so that this disadvantage is avoided.
In the case of FIG. 1, the teat 2 is finally compressed in the rest cycle, which is not the case when using the device according to FIG. 2, so that the teat canal can already be filled with milk in this phase.
