Printing plate holder, especially for addressing machines The present invention relates to a printing plate holder, such as one after the other a printing machine, such as. B. mailing machine and the like, are intended to go through and can be stored in drawers or other containers when they are not in use.
The printing plate holder has according to this invention, a frame made of flat material be and on one flat side has holding elements that form a guide into which a pressure plate of a predetermined thickness can be inserted to keep ge against the adjacent surface of the frame and on a movement in the direction perpendicular to the guide in which the plate is inserted from being prevented, further means present at each end of the guide, engaging with opposite sides of the plate, to a pressure plate housed in the guide against movement to secure along the guide,
said means comprising at least one resilient tongue formed in the frame.
The printing plate holder is characterized according to this inven tion that the tongue has a stepped portion at its free end which has a part which extends obliquely upward from the adjoining surface of the tongue at an obtuse angle to the surface by a distance that is intended to form a step for the adjoining end piece of the plate to be inserted, and that an end part is arranged outwardly from this part, which extends at least approximately parallel to the main part of the tongue, that there are also means for the rest of the plate, their Side edges are separated from the material of the tongue,
and which are formed by cutting out and bending up from the part of the tongue as a flap so that they protrude from the end part inwardly in the direction of the main part of the tongue, with their free end edges in a plane which is at least approximately perpendicular to the closing surface of the Tongue is, and the planes of said means are inclined obliquely to the tongue, the lower ends of the means are at least approximately in the plane of the adjoining surface of the main part of the tongue,
while the upper ends lie at least approximately in the plane of the upper surface of the end portion of the tongue.
In the accompanying drawing, an embodiment example of the subject invention is illustrated. They show: FIG. 1 a plan view of a printing plate holder according to this invention, FIG.
a plan view of the lower right part of the printing plate holder according to FIG. 1, but on a larger scale than FIG. 1, FIGS. 3 and 4, sections along lines 3-3 and 4-4 in FIG. 2 and FIG Fig.3, wherein a pressure plate with a depressible spring shows ge.
The printing plate holder D according to FIG. 1 has a mainly rectangular frame F made of sheet material and has spacing flanges FF (FIGS. 3 and 5), which are formed on the frame F, but are shorter than its edges. Along one of the two longer side edges of the frame a rim 10 which is flanged by Rolr l, en is formed, which ends at a certain distance from the shorter side edges of the frame.
A number of mutually aligned retaining lugs 11 protrude at a certain distance from the edge 10 from the surface of the frame and form with the edge 10 a guide into which .eine index card C can be inserted from one side. In alignment with the approaches 11 protrudes at one end of said guide a corner extension 12 from the frame upper surface.
This approach has a part that lies over a corner of a card arranged in the guide Kar, also parts that extend perpendicular to the surface of the frame and with the edges of the index card in the vicinity of the corner are in engagement, which after insertion the holding approach 12 comes to rest. Serving as a stop, the extension 13 protrudes at the end of the mentioned guide from the frame F, which is opposite to the end at which the corner extension is formed. If an index card is to be used in the guide, it is pushed over the approach 13.
If the index card is correctly arranged in the Füh tion, the adjoining edge of the index card lies against the upright part of the projection 13. If the index card is so arranged, it is held against displacement in the guide by the edge 10, the extension 12, the holding extensions 11 and the extension 13.
There are still other aligned retaining lugs 21 from the surface of the frame and have parts that extend perpendicular to the surface of the frame F and parts that stood above the surface of the frame at a certain distance from this and are in the direction of the edge which is opposite to the edge along which the crimped edge 10 is formed. In the present case, an edge 20 flanged by rolling is formed along the edge which is opposite the edge with the edge 10, and the flanged edge has a part which lies above the surface of the frame at a certain distance therefrom.
The edge 20, like the edge 10, also ends at a certain distance from the shorter side edges of the frame. The lugs 21 and the beaded edge 20 form a guide into which a pressure plate P can be inserted. The upstanding parts of the sets 21 and the edge 20 serve to hold the plate P against movement perpendicular to the edges 10 and 20. The lugs extending over the plate and the edge hold the plate against the surface of the frame F.
A guide such as the one just described for receiving a plate P can also be formed by the lugs 21 and a similarly shaped set of lugs spaced from the lugs 21 and parts thereof as far as they are above the surface of the frame lie against the approaches 21 are directed towards.
Before the printing plate P is inserted into a guide of the type just described, printing characters or letters are made to protrude from the plate by embossing, driving or the like. Usually, at the same time, at least certain letters on the plate P are imprinted on the index card C and the plate and card are accommodated in the frame in the manner described above. By these measures that the letters, which can be seen in mirror image on the printing plate, as is customary in printing technology, are printed on the index card, reading these letters is significantly simplified.
It is essential that the pressure plate P is held against movement in the longitudinal direction in a guide of the type described, and for this purpose a holding lug similar to the holding lug 13 can be present at one end of the guide that is connected to the relevant end of the plate engages and it holds against displacement environment in the guide in the longitudinal direction.
At the other end of the guide a flexible tongue is provided, which is to be described in more detail below and has parts that are engaged with the end of the plate, which is opposite to the end, which, as described, is in a holding stop, get into engagement and interact with the Haltean impact to prevent longitudinal movement of the plate in the guide on the device. The tongue just described is arranged at one end of the guide intended for receiving the pressure plate so that it can be pressed down when a relatively rigid pressure plate is to be inserted into the guide provided for it.
However, when a pressure plate is completely inserted into the guide that the plate is to take on, its rear edge releases holding parts on the resilient tongue, which parts move due to the existing resilience of the tongue in such a position that they move with the end of the plate come into engagement and take over the function of holding the plate as described above.
Often, as shown in FIG. 1, the frame F has resilient tongues 25 of the type described at each end of a guide which can receive a pressure plate so that the pressure plate can be inserted into the guide from either end. It is essential that the holding parts presented by the tongues 25 come into effective engagement with the corresponding end edges of the plate, otherwise the plate could be displaced in the guide in the longitudinal direction when using the printing device. As already stated, various measures have been taken to ensure that the holding parts of the tongue do their job. The device described here is intended to represent an improved arrangement in this sense.
The resilient tongue 25 shown in the drawing is generally in the form of a tongue having a body portion which when molded, as shown in Fig. 3, slightly upwards from the surface of the frame F on which the pressure plate P is to be placed is bent. However, this part of the tongue can also be designed so that it lies in the plane of the carrier in which it is formed. The flexible tongue 25 is characterized in that it forms a mainly horseshoe-shaped slot 25s in the frame. Furthermore, at the free end of the flexible tongue 25, a part 30 is pressed upwards and the free end part 31, which adjoins the part 30 on the outside, is arranged parallel to the plane of the adjoining surface of the tongue.
The curved part of the slot 25s is designed in such a way that it lies over a part of the spacing flange FF, so that the free end part 31 of the tongue lies over the accessible part of the spacing flange. The engagement of the end part or the lip 31 with this accessible part of the distancing flange FF restricts the amount by which the tongue 25 can be depressed when the pressure plate is inserted into a guide for receiving the plate.
This ensures that the resilience of the tongue 25 is not impaired, so that the holding parts of the tongue can jump up into the position for retaining the plate when the pressure plate is over it and in the correct position in the guide for receiving the plate has been pushed.
As indicated above, it is essential that the part engaging the plate be a resilient tongue for holding the plate in such a way that it retains the pressure plate to be held against movement in the longitudinal direction. Furthermore, as also discussed above, it is desirable that the plate not pass under the part or parts for engagement with the plate in the form of one or more stops on the tongue.
It is also advantageous that the stops for engagement with the plate are relatively moderately long, so that they offer a relatively extensive engagement surface for the adjacent plate end.
Stops of this type are provided by the protruding parts 26 and 27 on the inside of the protruding part of a flexible tongue 25. As can be seen most from FIG are transversely inclined, and the length of the free edge of these stops is at least equal to the height of the upstanding part or inclined wall 30.
The specified inclination of the stops 26 and 27 also ensures that the end part of the plate to be held cannot pass underneath. Advantageously, the stops 26 and 27 are inclined in opposite directions so that their upper edges lie at least mainly in the plane of the uppermost surface of the lip 31 and their lower edges lie at least mainly in the plane of the upper surface of the main body of the tongue of which they are a part.
In addition, the free ends of the stops 26 and 27 are arranged so that their edges lie in a plane which is at least approximately perpendicular to the adjacent surface of the tongue of which they are part. As a result, an effective stop arrangement is achieved for engaging the closing end of the pressure plate to be held.
Furthermore, the fact that the lower ends of the stops are at least mainly in the plane of the adjoining surface of the tongue ensures that a pressure plate to be held cannot get under the stops.
The objects and advantages of the present invention can be achieved by the stops of the type described on a flexible tongue of the form shown.
