Plant for the preparation of saturated lime water Devices are already known for the preparation of lime water, in which a charge of lime being introduced into a vertical conical volume, a stream of water is sent into the lower part of the vessel. this volume and passes through it from bottom to top, so that at the top a corresponding flow of water saturated with lime is collected,
thanks to the agitation created by the passage of this water current.
These devices, however, have some drawbacks. The first is the gradual accumulation of sludge, the evacuation of which naturally creates losses. The second arises from the fact that the agitation which is caused by the stream of dissolution water is linked to the flow rate of the apparatus, so that the title of the lime water is not constant for all the flow rates.
The object of the present invention is to remedy these drawbacks and to obtain, with a better yield, a lime water at constant level, whatever the flow rate, until the lime load is exhausted, which is obtained. thanks to the fact that the stirring speed is independent of the flow rate of the device.
For this purpose, the installation according to the invention comprises a vertical conical tank, an inlet pipe for water to be saturated with lime, opening out at the lower part of the tank, a collector for saturated lime water installed at the upper part of the tank, a pump whose suction is connected to a source of lime milk and the delivery to a pipe opening into the lower part of the tank and a return pipe from the central part of the tank. the tank, all in such a way that, on the one hand, one can, by means of the pump,
establish, through the discharge pipe of this pump and the return pipe, a continuous circulation of the liquid, ensuring agitation of the contents of the tank and, on the other hand, ensuring the supply of lime milk to the tank.
Figs. 1 and 2 of the drawing each represent, by way of example, an embodiment of the installation according to the invention.
The installation shown in fig. 1 comprises a conical vertical tank 1 in which the water to be saturated, the flow rate of which is measured by a flowmeter 2, is introduced through a pipe 3, opening towards the bottom of the tank, while the water saturated with lime is taken up at the same flow rate via a manifold 4 located at the upper part of this tank.
A pump 7, the suction of which is connected by a pipe 9 to a lime milk dilution tank 10, delivers into a pipe 6 which opens out via a ramp 13 in the bottom of the tank 1.
In the pipe 9 is interposed a T connector 8 to which is connected a return pipe 5 starting from the central part of the tank 1.
A valve 11 and a valve 12 allow the suction of pump 7 to be connected either to pipe 5 or to pipe 9.
The operation of the installation described is as follows: The calculated quantity of lime having been diluted with lime milk in the tank 10, the valve 12 is opened and the valve 11 is closed; the milk is sucked by the pump 7 and injected into the tank via the pipe 6 and the ramp 13. Once this milk has been introduced, the valve 12 is closed and the valve 11 is opened.
As the tank 1 is supposed to be full of water, a circuit 5 - 11 - 8 - 7 - 6 -13 is then established, which constantly keeps the powdered lime in motion and allows its dissolution by the inlet of water to saturate 3, the flow rate of which is set to any suitable value by the flow meter 2. The flow rate taken by the collector 4 is substantially equal to the flow rate of pure water admitted by 3.
The purging of the insoluble products contained in the lime is carried out periodically by density and aspiration by the cylindro-conical tank 14 and the valve 15. The total emptying of the tank is carried out by the valve 16.
The installation shown in fig. 2 comprises the vertical conical tank 17 at the bottom of which the water to be saturated, the flow rate of which is measured by a flow meter 18, arrives through line 19, while the saturated lime water is collected by the upper collector 20.
The pump 22, the suction of which is connected to the tank 23, discharges into a pipe 21 opening into the bottom of the tank 1 via a ramp. A return pipe 27 starting from the central part of the tank 1 opens into the tank 23. In this tank is mounted a stirrer 24 and it is provided with a dilution water inlet 25 and a drain 26.
This installation allows a greater duration of continuous operation, owing to the fact that a large quantity of whitewash is continuously withdrawn to return it to the mixing tank forming a flywheel.
