Drum chopper
The invention relates to a drum chopping machine with a housing enclosing a'ie knife drum, which is provided with an intake opening for the material to be cut and an outlet connection for the material to be cut, adjoining the feed device.
Up to now known drum chopping machines with an ejection device, if they do not work under very favorable conditions, require a relatively high work performance and correspondingly heavy and expensive transmission and drive mechanism parts.
With the inclined positions of the knife edges to the drum axis up to an angle of about 20, which are already usual in some cases, either strongly changing circumferential forces or a larger number of knives result, if at least one knife is always to be cut. In addition, in the latter case, the then cage-like drum is heavy and a large part of its surface is covered by the knives, so that the cut material is prevented from leaving the drum area undisturbed. This also explains the need for known arrangements that were made to support this process, e.g. B. additional blades next to or in the chopping drum, special throwing blades or the like.
The invention has for its object to make drum chopping machines of the type described above simple in their structure and a trouble-free and above all short path of the chopped material through the machine through a particularly advantageous design of the arrangement of the cutterhead, the housing and the feed achieve and thus bring about a significant reduction in the power requirement.
These advantages are achieved according to the invention in that the cutting diameter of the chopping drum is greater than its cutting width and that two or three helically wound knives are attached to its circumference, which at least approximately extend over the corresponding part of the drum circumference.
As a result of the comparatively large inclination of the knife relative to the drum axis, a pulling cut is produced which is similar to a scythe cut and results in a much smoother run than a more <; Pressing cut on knives with no or a small angle of inclination. On the other hand, the large free surface area between the knives gives the clippings enough opportunity to leave the inside of the drum undisturbed and to reach the ejection nozzle at the required speed.
In addition, the very large angle between the knife and the counter knife prevents stones or other hard foreign bodies from being trapped. Rather, these are thrown to the side and can get into the open through an opening expediently made in the side wall of the housing.
Details emerge from the following description of a particularly expedient embodiment of the machine according to the invention, which is shown in the drawings. They show: Fig. 1 a longitudinal section of the device,
2 shows a floor plan with the upper part of the drum housing removed,
3 shows a view of the chopping device opposite to the direction of travel with a partial section through a side wall of the drum housing, the part lying therefrom, which serves to feed the chopped material, being omitted.
A platform 2 with a pick-up roller 3 and sliding shoes 4 arranged on the opposite side extends from the machine frame 1 to the front. A conveyor belt 5 brings the material to be cut to a press roller 6, which sits on a shaft 8 and is driven via a disk 7 . On the shaft 8 on both sides of the press roller 6 runner-shaped guide plates 9 are mounted, which are approximately half the length through webs 10 with the pivot arms 11 and 11 'supporting the shaft 8, which can swing around pins 12 and 12' of the drum housing wall 13 and 13 ' , are connected.
The baffles 9 merge on the outside into baffles 14 and 14 'standing perpendicular to them, the angled parts 15 and 15' of which are partially covered inward by the side walls 16 and '16' which, starting from the sliding blocks 4, the platform 2 laterally limit. The arrangement of these guide plates promotes the formation of the chopped material, which often arrives in large and confused piles in front of the press roller 6, in a shape adapted to the intake opening 28, in that the compression takes place mainly in the middle of the path and only around the sides of the material a lesser amount of pressure and is therefore less inhibited on the side walls by frictional resistance.
A fixed, adjustable counter knife 17 forms the end of the conveyor track.
The cutterhead sits on a shaft 25 mounted in the machine frame 1 and consists of the two end disks 21 and 21 ', a diametrical web 22 arranged in the center of the shaft 25 and two knives 23 and 23'. The latter extend helically over the entire width of the drum and over half the drum circumference, the cutting edges 24 and 24 ′ lying on the cutting circle cylinder 19. The shaft 25 of the drum carries a belt pulley 26 for its drive. The housing wall 27, in which a feed opening 28 and an ejection opening 29 are provided, lies concentrically around the knife drum.
At the latter, the discharge spout 30 is connected vertically, but depending on the requirements d'en also deviate from this position.
In order to fully satisfy the increased swallowing capacity of the drum design, the upper edge of the feed opening 28 can be placed much lower than the drum axis 25 and the feed direction at the lower leading edge (cutting edge of the counter knife 17) with the tangent 18 on the cutting circle cylinder 19 can be at an angle a of at most 48 form.
This means that the chopped material is gripped and cut at a relatively acute angle to the feed direction. As a result, the cutting pressure of the knives 23 and 23 'is used to a large extent to support the pulling-in process and prevents jams in front of the same. Since, in addition, a cut made at an angle to the fiber direction requires less effort than a cut made approximately perpendicular to it, this measure also results in a further reduction in the power requirement.
Via the feed opening 28, the housing wall is extended by a height-adjustable angle piece 31, the lower part 32 of which is angled towards the cutterhead. This reduces the power requirement of the machine even more, because this angling creates a funnel-like shape of the opening that favors the intake, and on the other hand, the air rotating with the drum in the housing is deflected inwards and thus exits through the opening 28 prevented. From FIG. 1 it can be seen that the lower edge 32 of the angle piece 31 is lower than the shaft 25 by the amount.
The adjustability of the angle piece 31 takes into account, in particular, the operating conditions that change with the type of the respective chopped material.
The knives 23 and 23 'form with the cutting edge of the counter knife 17 a pair of scissors with an angle ss (FIG. 2) which is so large that any hard foreign bodies such as stones, bits of iron and the like cannot get stuck in between, but rather be thrown in the direction of the side wall 13 '. They are caught there in a trough 35 which is open at the bottom and through which they can exit the machine to the outside.
The device is carried by the wheels 37 mounted on the steering knuckles 36 of the device.
Further elements that serve to drive, attach and move the chopping machine are not shown and described because they are of no importance for the invention.
