Strike The object of the present invention is a keeper. This is distinguished by the fact that it is in two parts, one of which is fixed to the door frame, while the other, presenting the opening of the tines to receive the bolt, can move transversely. relative to the axis of this opening, against the action of elastic means tending to bring it back towards the doorframe, a.
contact being provided, acting on an electrical circuit, as soon as said second part moves away from the doorframe.
The appended drawing shows an embodiment of the object of the invention, given by way of example. Fig. 1 is a transverse section, carried out horizontally with respect to the door and to the jamb also shown.
Fig. 2 is a similar partial section, showing the arrangement of the electrical contact.
Fig. 3 is a section of this contact.
Fig. 4 is a section similar to that of FIG. 1, showing the striker deformed under the action of a force.
The striker shown consists of a box of standard form constituting the stationary part 1 that two screws, for example wood screws such as 2, fix to the doorframe 3 of the door 4. These screws are vented in tubes 5, themselves crossing a separation 6, forming part of part 1.
This part in reality forms a parallelepiped closed on four sides, open on the application face against the jamb and facing the lock 7 of the door.
These two uncovered faces are in reality occupied by an L-shaped part 8, forming the second part of the keeper.
The small branch of this L has holes giving passage to the tubes 5 and the large face an opening intended to receive the part 9 of the lock 7. It is guided on its two edges, at 10, by small tabs of the lock. stationary part 1.
Powerful springs 11, surrounding the tubes and bearing against the separation 6, tend to apply the small branch of the part 8 against the jamb, in the drawn position. This is the normal operating position, the springs being powerful enough to withstand a normal push exerted against the door from the outside.
As shown in the section in fig. 2, there is, between the tubes 5, an electrical contact 12 enclosed between the partition 6 and the small branch of 8, a conductor 13 with two wires passing through the wall of 1.
It can be any contact. The fi-. 3 shows in section a preferred form.
Between two solid discs 14, of compressible plastic material, there are two washers 15 of the same material, separated from each other by a ring 16, also plastic and compressible.
The washers 15 contain metal frames 17 passing through them, so as to have bare faces, facing each other, in the empty space of the ring 16. These frames are connected to the conductor 13 (see FIG. 2).
It is obvious that, by axially crushing the one thus constituted, one will bring the reinforcements 17 to touch each other, which makes it possible to close a not healthy circuit by 13.
Now, here is how this closure can be produced: FIG. 4 shows that if, with the lock closed, door 4 is forced by pushing it in the direction of arrow 18, either by strong pressure against the latter, with the aim of releasing the lock, or by means of a lever inserted between door and frame 3, the corresponding movement of the door brings with it the bolt 9 which, in turn,
will drive the movable part 8 of the strike. The springs 11 are then compressed against the separation 6 of the fixed part 1 and, at the same time, the contact 12 will be compressed and will close the circuit that it controls.
Before the door has given way or the lock is destroyed, an alarm signal can not only warn the injured party, but also put the burglar to flight. We could even simultaneously trigger the shutter of a camera placed at a good height behind the door to photograph the intruder.
As can be seen, the strike according to the invention constitutes a safety device, both by its ability to warn of what is happening and by that of opposing destruction of the lock when one seeks to force.
It is obvious that the mobile part 8 could, depending on the type of lock with which the strike co operates, have more than one opening, for example two, for a bolt and a bolt.
It is also obvious that the contact could be made differently from the example described and shown and that, in particular, it could open a circuit instead of closing it.
