Self-supporting aerial cable with a sheath made of aluminum and a tensile armouring consisting of metal wires In the case of self-supporting aerial cables, in particular telecommunication air cables, the replacement of the usual lead sheath with an aluminum sheath is particularly advantageous because aluminum has a lower specific weight as well as greater tensile strength and greater conductivity than lead Has. It has therefore already become known to use the aluminum jacket itself as a support element for self-supporting air cables.
However, since the tensile strength of an aluminum jacket with large spans, i.e. with large mast spacings, is not sufficient to absorb the tensile loads on its own, a tensile steel wire reinforcement or the like is placed directly above the aluminum jacket. Such a structure, however, harbors the risk that, if the air has a high moisture content, water will collect between the aluminum jacket and the reinforcement, so that corrosion of the jacket can occur, especially if the air contains impurities.
The self-supporting aerial cable according to the invention, z. B. a telecommunication air cable, with a jacket made of aluminum and a metal wire be standing tensile reinforcement is characterized in that a waterproof protective layer made of a polyisobutylene mixture with a high carbon black and / or graphite content is arranged between the aluminum jacket and the reinforcement.
The polyisobutylene mixture used advantageously contains a small proportion, preferably two to ten parts by weight, based on one hundred parts by weight of polyisobutylene, of a vulcanizable or crosslinkable substance together with the necessary vulcanizing or crosslinking agents. Both natural and synthetic rubber can be used as vulcanisable or crosslinkable material.
Instead of adding polyisobutylene in a simple mixture to the crosslinkable or vulcanizable substances, it is also possible to use a copolymer of isobutylene and isoprene or of isobutylene and butadiene with a predominant isobutylene content.
By such a protective layer, which can be made relatively thin, a perfect conductive connection between the aluminum and the metal reinforcement is made and the aluminum jacket protects against corrosion. The mixture used according to the invention is advantageously given such properties that it is still relatively soft in the cured state.
This ensures that the reinforcement wires are pressed into the layer and the protective layer also fills the free spaces within the reinforcement so that no harmful moisture can occur between the aluminum jacket and the reinforcement. The protective layer can be bonded to the aluminum jacket using a suitable adhesive.
In the drawing, an embodiment of the aerial cable according to the invention is shown in the form of a self-supporting telecommunications aerial cable. The entire cable core is formed by four star quads 10 and several insulating tape and protective layers 11 . 12 is the aluminum jacket. For the purposes of the invention, a waterproof protective layer made of a polyisobutylene mixture with a large carbon black and / or graphite content is arranged over the aluminum jacket and is glued to the aluminum jacket by a thin adhesive layer 14.
Directly over the protective layer 13 , the tensile steel wire reinforcement 15 is applied in the form of a closed rope layer. The reinforcement wires are pressed into the relatively soft protective layer 13, so that the inner cavities of the steel wire reinforcement are filled as much as possible with the material of the protective layer.
The protective layer 13 is advantageously formed from a single tape or from several tapes made of a polyisobutylene mixture in a preferably overlapped arrangement, it being ensured that the tape windings are tightly connected to one another at least in the overlap area, e.g. B. glued, are. The protective layer 13 can also be applied by spraying. Instead of a reinforcement made of round wires, such a wire from profile, z. B. step from flat wires, which may consist of a tensile aluminum alloy with some before.
