Schweisshülse zur Herstellung einer Schweissverbindung von ineinandergreifenden Formkörpern aus thermoplastischen Kunststoffen,
Verwendung dieser Schweisshülse und Verfahren zu ihrer Herstellung
Die Erfindung bezieht sich auf eine Schweisshülse zur Herstellung einer Schweissverbindung von ineinandergreifenden Formkörpern aus thermoplastischen Kunststoffen unter Zwischenlegen eines Heizleiters, gekennzeichnet durch im Abstand voneinander angeordnete Windungen eines Heizleiters, welche durch eine Schicht eines thermoplastischen Kunststoffs verbunden sind. Diese Schicht ist zweckmässig nicht wesentlich dicker als der Durchmesser des Heizleiters. Sie kann auch etwas dünner sein.
Weiter bezieht sich die Erfindung auf die Verwendung dieser Schweisshülse zur Herstellung von zusammengesetzten, ineinandergreifenden, durch elektrisches Verschweissen zu verbindenden Formkörpern aus thermoplastischen Kunststoffen, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass man die Schweisshülse oder Schweisshülsen mit einem der durch Verschweissen zu verbindenden Formkörper vor dem Vereinigen der beiden Formkörper verbindet.
Die Formkörper können Rohre oder Rohrverbinder (Fittings) sein. Als thermoplastischer Kunststoff kommt z. B. Polyäthylen in Frage.
Das Verschweissen ineinandergreifender Formkörper aus thermoplastischen Kunststoffen, z. B.
Rohren und Rohrverbindern, unter Erhitzen der Ein griffsflächen der zu verbindenden Formkörper mittels eines zwischengelegten, elektrisch beheizten Heizleiters ist bekannt.
Die bisherigen Vorschläge brachten eine Reihe von Nachteilen mit sich; ihre Anwendung in der Praxis gelang nicht oder war beschränkt.
Diese Nachteile können gemäss der Erfindung behoben werden, da man bei der Schweisshülse durch Anlegen eines elektrischen Stromes an die Drahtwindungen die dünne Kunststoffschicht zum Schmelzen bringen und die der Hülse benachbarten Kunststoffteile der zu verbindenden Formkörper erhitzen kann.
Man kann das Verschweissen unter Zwischenlegen der Schweisshülse zwischen die zu verbindenden Flächen, z. B. die Aussenfläche eines Rohres und die Innenfläche eines Fittings, und Anlegen eines Stromes an die Enden der Drahtwicklung vornehmen. Hierbei schmilzt die die Drahtwindungen verbindende, verhältnismässig dünne Kunststoffschicht, und es schmelzen die benachbarten Teile des Kunststoffs der zu verbindenden Formkörper, unter Bildung einer die Drahtwindung und den Kunststoff der Schweisshülse einschliessenden Schweissverbindung.
Die Schweisshülse kann vor der Vereinigung der ineinandergreifenden Formkörper aus thermoplastischen Kunststoffen mit einem dieser Formkörper verbunden werden, z. B. mit einem Fitting, während dessen Herstellung durch Spritzen.
Die Herstellung der Schweisshülse kann auf beliebige an sich bekannte Weise, z. B. dadurch erfolgen, dass die Windungen des Heizdrahtes in eine Schmelze des thermoplastischen Kunststoffs eingetaucht werden.
Die Schichtdicke des thermoplastischen Kunststoffs der Hülse ist vorzugsweise über die gesamte Hülse gleichmässig verteilt; es können jedoch auch Erhöhungen oder Vertiefungen vorgesehen sein.
Als thermoplastischer Kunststoff für die Schweisshülse wird vorzugsweise ein Kunststoff verwendet mit einem verhältnismässig niedrigen Erweichungspunkt bzw. Schmelzpunkt, wobei Voraussetzung ist, dass der Kunststoff der Schweisshülse sich mit dem Kunststoff der zu vereinigenden Teile zu verbinden vermag.
Das Erhitzen der Drahtwindungen kann anstelle des Einschaltens in einen Stromkreis auch durch Einbringen der vereinigten Teile in ein Wechselstromfeld erfolgen.
Für diese Art der Ausführung der Verschweissung werden die Schweisshülsen vorzugsweise in Form langer Rohre, die zu Stücken der benötigten Länge geschnitten werden können, hergestellt.
Die Form der Schweisshülse richtet sich nach der Form der zu verbindenden Formkörper. In der Regel besitzt die Schweisshülse zylindrische Form.
Die Zeichnung zeigt bevorzugte Ausführungsformen der Erfindung:
Fig. 1 zeigt teilweise im axialen Schnitt, teilweise in Ansicht den mit einem thermoplastischen Kunststoff zu der Schweisshülse vereinigten Heizleiter.
Fig. 2 zeigt teilweise im axialen Schnitt, teilweise in Ansicht die Anordnung der Schweisshülse auf dem Kern einer zur Herstellung eines Rohrverbinders dienenden Spritzgussform.
Fig. 3 erläutert das Verschweissen zweier Rohrenden mit einem Rohrverbinder.
Der bifilar gewickelte Heizleiter 1, dessen Windungen in gleichmässigen Abständen voneinander angeordnet sind, ist mit einem thermoplastischen Kunststoff 2 zu einem hülsenförmigen Körper vereinigt.
Die Windungen des Heizleiters liegen also in der Wandung einer Kunststoffhülse. Die beiden Anschlussenden 3, 4 des Heizleiters ragen stirnseitig aus der Wandung der Hülse heraus.
Die den Heizleiter enthaltende Hülse kann wie schon erwähnt im Zuge der Herstellung eines Formkörpers, z. B. eines Rohrverbinders, mit diesem vereinigt werden.
Zu diesem Zweck kann gemäss Fig. 2 die Hülse auf dem Kern 5 einer zur Herstellung des Rohrverbinders dienenden Spritzgussform 6 angeordnet werden, wobei die Anschlussenden 3, 4 des Heizleiters ausserhalb des formgebenden Hohlraumes der Spritzgussform liegen.
Einen auf diese Weise hergestellten Rohrverbinder 7, welcher zwei Heizleiterhülsen 1, 2 enthält und zum Verbinden zweier Rohrenden 8, 9 dient, zeigt Fig. 3.
Durch Anlegen einer Stromquelle an die Anschlussenden 3, 4 des Heizleiters wird der Heizleiter und der ihn umgebende Kunststoff erwärmt, wodurch eine homogene Verschweissung der zu verbindenden Teile herbeigeführt wird.
Derartige Schweissverbindungen können durch elektrisches Erhitzen des in die Schweissverbindung eingebetteten Heizdrahtes wieder gelöst werden.

The thermoplastic plastic used for the welding sleeve is preferably a plastic with a relatively low softening point or melting point, with the prerequisite that the plastic of the welding sleeve is able to bond with the plastic of the parts to be combined.
The heating of the wire windings can also be done by placing the combined parts in an alternating current field instead of switching them on into a circuit.
For this type of welding, the welding sleeves are preferably made in the form of long tubes that can be cut into pieces of the required length.
The shape of the welding sleeve depends on the shape of the molded body to be connected. As a rule, the welding sleeve has a cylindrical shape.
The drawing shows preferred embodiments of the invention:
Fig. 1 shows partially in axial section, partially in view of the heating conductor combined with a thermoplastic material to form the welding sleeve.
FIG. 2 shows, partly in axial section and partly in view, the arrangement of the welding sleeve on the core of an injection mold used to produce a pipe connector.
Fig. 3 explains the welding of two pipe ends with a pipe connector.
The bifilar-wound heating conductor 1, the turns of which are arranged at regular intervals from one another, is combined with a thermoplastic material 2 to form a sleeve-shaped body.
The turns of the heating conductor are therefore in the wall of a plastic sleeve. The two connection ends 3, 4 of the heating conductor protrude at the front from the wall of the sleeve.
The sleeve containing the heating conductor can, as already mentioned, in the course of the production of a molded body, e.g. B. a pipe connector, are combined with this.
For this purpose, according to FIG. 2, the sleeve can be arranged on the core 5 of an injection mold 6 used to manufacture the pipe connector, the connection ends 3, 4 of the heating conductor being outside the shaping cavity of the injection mold.
A pipe connector 7 produced in this way, which contains two heating conductor sleeves 1, 2 and is used to connect two pipe ends 8, 9, is shown in FIG. 3.
By applying a current source to the connection ends 3, 4 of the heating conductor, the heating conductor and the plastic surrounding it are heated, which brings about a homogeneous welding of the parts to be connected.
Such welded connections can be released again by electrically heating the heating wire embedded in the welded connection.
