Description

Packaging for ground coffee and method of manufacturing this packaging
It is known that ground coffee very quickly loses its aroma as soon as it is subjected to the action of air, so that it can only be placed on the market in sealed containers (sealed jars or the like), which leads to a significant increase in the selling price.

The contents of the sealed container must moreover, in any event, be used quickly by the purchaser to avoid loss of flavor after opening.

For some time, a mechanically strong and gas-impermeable plastic material known as Rilsan and sold in thin sheets at a low price has been used for making sealed containers. In particular, this material has already been used for the vacuum packaging of certain food products, bags or bags made of Rilsan>, into which these food products have been introduced beforehand, being placed under a pneumatic bell and sealed by thermoelectric welding. , under this bell, when the vacuum is obtained.

The vacuum-bagged products can be stored indefinitely.

For coffee packaging, this packaging method nevertheless has the commercial drawback that the vacuum-packed ground coffee is in the form of a hard and compact block which confuses customers and which Elsewhere, seen through the whitish wall of the Rilsan sac which adheres with it, has an unattractive appearance.

If the powdered coffee is first introduced into a package consisting of a usual paper bag, the appearance of the presentation is already improved. However, the vacuum-sealing in a sealed bag, of several usual paper bags, has an additional advantage.

The packaging for ground coffee according to the invention is characterized in that it comprises a series of bags intended for retail sale, enclosed in a plastic bag impermeable to gases and sealed under vacuum.

The invention further comprises a method of manufacturing this packaging, characterized in that the coffee is placed in ordinary bags of paper or cardboard, and in that these bags are introduced into a plastic bag. impermeable to gases before vacuum sealing.

The powdered coffee, as soon as it has taken out of the sealed packaging comprising the invention, resumes in a few moments, on contact with air, its normal powdery appearance and retains its initial aroma as if it had come from be roasted. By supplying the retailer with vacuum sealed packages containing a number of paper bags corresponding to his minimum daily sale, the retailer will be able to open the sealed package himself and sell to his customers individual bags containing normal powdered coffee still having all its aroma.

The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, one embodiment of a packaging, as it will be delivered to the retailer. This packaging comprises a bag 1 made of transparent and air-impermeable plastic material (obtained from tubular strips such as those put on the market), into which a series of parallelepipedal sachets 2 containing the powdered coffee have been introduced before closing.

The assembly being evacuated and the bag 1 being closed by electric welding along lines 3 and 3 ', the packaging is presented as a hard and compact block to which the wall of the bag 1 closely adheres.

It is this bag that the retailer will open at the start of his sale in order to give his various customers the individual bags 2 which have resumed a normal flexible appearance.

   CLAIMS:
 I. Packaging for ground coffee, characterized in that it comprises a series of bags intended for retail sale, enclosed in a plastic bag impermeable to gas and sealed under vacuum.

II. Manufacturing process according to Claim I, characterized in that the coffee is placed in ordinary bags of paper or cardboard, and in that these bags are introduced into a plastic bag impermeable to gases before vacuum sealing.
