Additional device on a surface planer The present invention relates to an additional device on a surface planer to use the same as a thicknesser, the additional device being a height adjustable on a carrier, parallel to the planing table above the same leveling plate and upward we kende, resilient organs for pressing the workpiece against the straightening plate. The workpiece to be planed to thickness is passed between the resilient elements and the straightening plate and is constantly held on the straightening plate by the resilient elements in such a way that the workpiece is planed to a thickness corresponding to the distance between the straightening plate and the planing knives.
Such devices are known in several designs, many of which have a support for the straightening plate, which is fastened on one side to the guide device used for dressing and wherein the straightening plate and the resilient elements in the form of cantilevered arms which are fastened on one side protrude above the planing table. Apart from the fact that in this case the attachment of the Zusatzvorrich device is quite complicated, the straightening plates and resilient organs, which are only fastened on one side, have too little stability to allow precise and plane-parallel planing.
To counter these disadvantages, additional devices were developed that are attached to both sides of the planing table, in most cases an attachment to four points symmetrical to the cutterblock was provided. Since in this case the additional device must be placed on the surface planer from above, the clamping means for clamping the additional device must be attached to the side of the planing table, and there may be considerable upward pressure forces against the surface plate and the carrier of the additional device during planing - the device can work,
A screw connection must be provided if a secure hold of the additional device is to be ensured even with continuous use and with the strong vibrations that occur when planing. For this purpose, at least fastening holes or threaded holes must be provided on the planing machine itself or screw bolts firmly inserted. It has also been proposed to let the attachment bolts of the additional device directly from above into the mounting holes of the planing table.
Such a fastening type is very complicated, and the fastening holes fill up during operation without any additional device always cleaning again with chips and other impurities, so that they have to be cleaned every time before the auxiliary device is attached.
The additional device according to the present invention now allows all the aforementioned disadvantages of known additional devices to be avoided. It is characterized in that it has a bracket-shaped carrier supported from above on both sides of the planing table edges, at the ends of which the planing table edges encompassing fastening pliers on both sides with clamping means acting from below against the planing table edges are provided. Preferably, the carrier is completely net angeord to the side of the planer shaft. With this design, the additional device can now be pushed onto the planing table from one side until the carrier is attached to z.
B. stops formed by the bearings of the planer shaft remains in its correct position of use, whereupon the clamping means, z. B. can be tightened on both sides a clamping screw. Since the tensioning screws act from below against the planing table, the additional device can in no case be completely lifted off or pushed out of its position even if it becomes slightly loose. An exemplary embodiment of the additional device according to the invention is shown in the drawing.
Fig. 1 is a rear view of the attachment with the planing table shown in section.
Figure 2 is a section through the attachment along line II-II in Figure 1, and Figure 3 is a bottom view of the attachment removed from the planing machine.
The additional device shown has a bow-shaped carrier with side cheeks 1, a middle part 2 and a hood 3. The cheeks 1 have surfaces 4, with which they are supported on both sides from above on the side edges 5a of the plate-like table 5 of the planing machine in the position of use of the additional device. With the ends of the cheeks 1 holders 6 are connected, which encompass the planer table edges 5a downwards and which are provided with clamping screws 8 on the tab 7 reaching under the edge of the planer table.
The holder 6 with the tabs 7 and the clamping screws 8 acting from below against the planing table edges 5a each form a pair of fastening pliers with which the Trä ger can be clamped firmly on the table of the planing machine.
Two leaf springs 9 and 10 are screwed to the cheeks 1, each of which has a continuous web 11 and resilient tabs 12 which are separated by incisions and inclined slightly upwards relative to the web 11. The surface of the webs 11 facing the table 5 lies in the same plane as the surfaces 4. With the tabs 12 of the leaf springs 10 is a bar 27 made of a soft, rubber-elastic material, for. B. foam rubber or the like, glued, which closes the space under the flap 12 of the leaf spring 11.
In the middle of the central part 2, a spindle 13 is rotatably supported with a handwheel 14, but not axially slidably ver, which protrudes into a threaded sleeve 15. The threaded sleeve 15 is firmly seated in a plate 16. The plate 16 has four continuous threads in each of which a regulating bolt 17 is seated. The regulating bolts 17 are rotatable and not axially displaceable ver held in a straightening plate 18 located above the planing table and can be determined in the plate 16 by means of adjusting nuts 19.
Two guide rollers 20 are mounted in the straightening plate 18, one of which is arranged opposite the planing shaft 21 of the planing machine, while the other is located above the front spring 9 of the additional device. The plate 16 is verbun with two guide columns 22, which can slide in holes in the central part 2 of the carrier, and which keep the plate 16 always in horizon tal position. The guide columns 22 can be determined with means of a handwheel 23 operable jaws 24 on the support part 2.
The operation and use of the additional device shown is as follows: If the device is mounted on the table of the surface planer as in FIGS. 1 and 2, the wood to be processed can be pushed in from the right in FIG. 2 over the table 5 to the left , wherein the wood passes first between the spring 9 and the right lying low guide roller 20 of the straightening plate 18 and is pressed by the spring 9 up against the roller 20.
When the piece of wood is advanced further to the left in FIG. 2, the piece of wood is now also urged upward by the spring 10 and pressed against the rear guide roller 20, which is on the left in FIG. At the same time, the planer shaft 21 now begins to plane the lower surface of the inserted piece of wood, the piece of wood, which is always held tightly on the rollers 20 by the springs 9 and 10, is planed to a thickness which is exactly the distance between the planers and the tangential plane on both guide rollers 20 corresponds.
In order to enable precise work, this tangential plane must be horizontal, i.e. parallel to the planing table, which can be achieved by appropriately adjusting the regulating bolts 17 when the adjusting nuts 19 are loosened.
To adjust the planer thickness, the jaws 24 are released and the spindle 13 is turned on the handwheel 14, whereby the threaded sleeve 15, the plate 16 and the straightening plate 18 can be raised or lowered, depending on whether the planer thickness is to be increased or decreased. If the correct height of the straightening plate 18 is reached, the guide columns 22 are fixed again. On the straightening plate a pointer 25 can be attached since Lich, which runs on a scale 26 of one cheek of the wearer of the additional device (Fig. 1 and 3), which scale is calibrated directly in plane thickness.
Such a direct calibration is possible because the carrier with its surfaces 4 always rests in exactly the same position directly on the planer table and therefore always has exactly the same height compared to the planer shaft.
To remove the additional device from the surface planer, only the Spannschrau ben 8 are to be solved, whereupon the entire additional device can be pushed off the planer table 5 to the right in FIG. The procedure is exactly the same to apply the additional device to the planing table by simply placing the surfaces 4 of the carrier 1 on the front end of the planing table and then pushing the entire device to the left in FIG. 2 in the operating position. This correct operating position is preferred as by stopping one or more surfaces of the cheeks 1 of the carrier z.
B. against the laterally standing stock of the planer shaft or against laterally protruding parts of the fastening device, not shown, of the dressing guides of the planer set. Such a measure is possible because the carrier of the additional device is completely sideways, e.g. B. as shown in Fig.2, comes to lie on the right of the planer shaft and therefore pushed onto the planer table from one side without any obstacle who can. If the additional device has reached the prescribed position, the clamping screws 8 are tightened and the additional device is immediately ready for use.
The device is designed essentially symmetrically with respect to the longitudinal center axis of the planing table, and the parts subjected to pressure by the wooden parts that are passed through, in particular the springs 9 and 10 and the rollers 20, are attached symmetrically to the entire longitudinal center plane or stored, so that the wooden parts to be processed are pressed against the guide rollers 20 with uniform pressure over the entire width, which enables them to be planed in a plane-parallel manner.
The glued to the leaf spring 10 bar 27 of foam rubber or the same material prevents the penetration of the Ho belspäne under the spring 10 and thus a reduction in the flexibility of this spring during operation.
It is essential that two springs 9 and 10 are seen before, the spring pressure of which acts on the rollers 20 ge compared to the wooden parts carried out, so that the wooden parts are always fed to the two guide rollers 20 and are consequently carried out absolutely horizontally. Since the springs 9 and 10 are firmly tensioned on both sides, their webs 11 do not need a particularly high flexural strength and can therefore be designed so thin and flat on the planing table that the wooden parts to be processed can be pushed in from the right in FIG. 2 is not made noticeably difficult via the planing table.
To adjust the height of the straightening plate 18, the actuation of a single control spindle is sufficient because the straightening plate is ge superimposed on a single carrier.
Since the cheeks 1 of the only intended support of the additional device shown are supported for quite a length on the planing table, the simple fastening shown by means of two clamping screws is sufficient to give the device sufficient stability against tilting, despite the resultant of the acting on the surface plate 18 In general, pressure does not pass through the actual standing surface of the additional device. The large support length of the cheeks 1 also allows two leaf springs 9 and 10 to be arranged on their base surfaces 4, whereby the advantages already mentioned above are achieved.
As can be seen from the above, no changes to the existing planing machine are required to attach the additional device shown, so that the device coming from the factory can be placed on the surface planing machine without any further precautions.
