Description

Assembly formed of a pipe and a part connected at one of its ends It is known that all the devices for connecting pipes, either to one another or with any accessories, use the mechanical resistance of said pipes to pressing and forcing against their walls the joints or gaskets, so that it is not possible to use these devices when the pipes do not have sufficient rigidity to allow this action of tightening the joints.

It is also known that such types of pipes, which will be called elastic pipes in what follows, cannot receive the usual junctions and connections, precisely because of their lack of rigidity. This category of pipes primarily includes plastic pipes.

The lack of truly appropriate and specially designed junction means for these elastic pipes is one of the main causes, if not the sole cause, of the lack of success of this type of pipe.

With the aim of eliminating these serious drawbacks and leading to a wider use of elastic pipes in the production of conduits, a study has been made of the solution of all the problems which arise, either to obtain a rational junction of pipe elements, either to make elbows, fluid intakes, and branchings, as well as the fitting of accessories of any type, while allowing free axial expansion of the pipes, which is particularly important for plastic pipes.

The use of elbows is essential, even with elastic pipes, because the curvature which the elasticity of these pipes allows is of too large a radius to be able to be of current use in the realization of the pipes.

Even more serious is the problem of making the connections and branches. If, indeed, this realization is quite easy before the laying of pipes when the pipes are in hand, it is almost impossible to operate when the pipe is already in service.

In the light of these circumstances, it appears essential to make as many fittings as possible in advance before laying, so that they can be used on occasion, without having to handle the pipes in service.

The assembly according to the invention is formed of a pipe and a part connected to one of the ends of this pipe. It is characterized by the fact that it comprises on the one hand a sleeve, integral. of the connected part, and which is introduced into the end of the pipe, and on the other hand a ring which clamps a seal against a wall of the connected part, so that said seal comes to rest against the outer wall of the part of the pipe in which the rigid sleeve is located, a longitudinal clearance being reserved between the connected part and the end of the pipe in order to allow the latter to expand.

Such an assembly makes it possible to produce simple straight joints; elbow joints, which replace the various special curved parts; straight gaskets with fluid intake port, which replace bypass collars and chokes; elbow joints with fluid intake port; three- or four-way joints that replace special bypass parts; pipe end joints; joints with transformation of the junction mode; joints with section reduction; gaskets with intake port fitted with a tap; retaining joints; isolating joints ...

The assembly according to the present invention consequently makes it possible to solve in a concrete manner all the problems relating to the connection and fitting of various accessory parts on pipes formed by elastic pipes.

In a particular embodiment of the assembly, so as not to cause a reduction in the fluid passage section at the location of the connection, the sleeve preferably has an internal diameter equal to that of the pipe to be connected; in sequence the end of said pipe should be widened to allow the introduction of said sleeve.

Figs. 1 to 12 appended hereto represent, by way of example, various embodiments of the assembly according to the invention.

Fig. 1 is a view in longitudinal section of a first embodiment of the assembly according to the invention. The part to be connected is connected to the end of two pipes 2 and 3: it comprises a peripheral ring 5, an intermediate part 4, and an internal part 1 which constitutes a rigid sleeve which is introduced into the end of the pipe. A seal 6 is pressed against the intermediate part 4 of the part to be connected, so as to strongly apply said seal against the outer wall of the part of the pipe inside which the sleeve 1 is located.

This compression of the packing is achieved by means of two rings 7 which are screwed onto one another. As has been explained, a longitudinal clearance is provided between the end of the pipe and the intermediate part 4 of the part to be connected.

Fig. 2 shows a variant of the assembly according to FIG. 1, in which the clamping rings 7, instead of being screwed onto each other, are screwed onto the peripheral part 5 of the part to be connected. In addition, this part comprises, in its middle, a bypass orifice 8 which can be closed by a threaded plug 9.

Fig. 3 shows a variant of the assembly according to FIG. 2, angled axle; as this figure clearly shows, only the central zone of the inner sleeve 1 is bent. In such a variant, the collars 7, not being on the same axis, must necessarily be screwed onto the peripheral rings 5, unless threaded tie rods are used which would work obliquely.

It can also be seen in this figure that the length of the sleeve 1, necessary for the formation of the elbow, makes it possible to place there without difficulty a bypass orifice 8.

Figs. 4 and 5 respectively show two embodiments of the assembly, formed by the junction of four sections of orthogonal pipes (FIG. 4) or of three sections of pipes forming a certain angle between them (FIG. 5). To this end, the central zone of the part to be connected is elongated so as to allow one or two bypass orifices to be placed there.

Fig. 6 shows an embodiment of the assembly constituting the connection of a solid plate 10 at the end of a pipe, in order to achieve the sealing of the latter.

Fig. 7 shows another embodiment of the assembly constituted by the connection, at the end of a pipe, of an open flange 11, the opening of which is in the extension of the pipe. Fig. 8 likewise shows an assembly formed by the connection, at the end of a pipe, of an open flange 11 ', the opening of which is perpendicular to the axis of the pipe. On these flanges 11 or 1 the. can be attached any accessories.

Fig. 9 shows an embodiment of the assembly, established for the connection of two pipes of different diameters, and comprising for this purpose a frustoconical pipe terminating at the ends with two sleeves of different diameters.

Fig. 10 shows an embodiment of the assembly constituting a connection with bypass orifice provided with a valve. This set is similar to that. of fig. 2, but in the auxiliary bypass duct 8 is disposed the nut 13 of a valve, which makes it possible to stop the flow of fluid in said duct at will. The end 14 of this auxiliary duct can be threaded, to allow the screwing of sleeves commonly used in the use of taps.

Fig. 11 shows an embodiment of the assembly constituting the connection of two pipe sections by means of a cylindrical connected part in which is disposed a check valve 15. Finally, FIG. 12 shows a final embodiment of the assembly constituting a connection, the connected part of which comprises a sectioning member 16, which may be wedge, valve, or of any other type.
