Plant for the production of steam The present invention relates to a plant for the production of steam, comprising at least one steam boiler for the production of saturated or partially superheated steam, and a separately heated superheater, in which the steam is high. at its final temperature.
In the construction of boilers, the trend is towards ever higher temperatures and pressures, which results in an improvement in thermal efficiency. The gain in efficiency is however somewhat offset by the increased cost of the materials used in the construction of the superheater and by the very high cost of the temperature control equipment, shut-off valves and safety valves intended for for use under modern steam production conditions.
The use of a separately heated superheater is then of interest because, by arranging the valves and temperature controls between the main boiler and the superheater, it is possible to avoid using equipment for their construction. expensive heat resistant. The object of the present invention is to provide a simple, safe and efficient installation from a thermal point of view, comprising a separately heated superheater.
The installation according to the invention is characterized in that the separately heated superheater is arranged in such a way that it can be supplied with an excess of air over that necessary for the complete combustion of the fuel supplied to the burners and in such a way that the hot oxygen-containing gases leaving the superheater are brought to a heating installation to be used to maintain combustion. The appended drawing shows, by way of example, three embodiments of the installation forming the subject of the present invention, the three figures being diagrams of these installations.
The installation shown in fig. 1 comprises a separately heated superheater 10, which takes saturated steam from a normal water tube boiler 12. The superheater 10 is a separate arrangement from the boiler 12 and comprises a gas-tight casing 14 within which are arranged a combustion chamber 16 and a battery of superheater tubes 18. The chamber 16 is partially surrounded by a chimney. 20.
Superheater 10 is heated by one or more oil burners 22 and receives combustion air from a forced draft fan 24 which also supplies combustion air to boiler 12. The air flows to the burner 22 through the jacket 20 where it is preheated. Air coming from the fan 24 is distributed between the boiler 12 and the superheater 10 by two valves 26 and 28. The valve 26 which controls the supply of air to the superheater and the supply of fuel to the burner 22 is adjusted according to the flow of steam through the superheater and its temperature at the outlet so as to maintain the latter practically constant.
The superheater 10 is supplied with an excess of air over that necessary for the complete combustion of the fuel supplied to the burner 22 and the final vapor temperature is regulated by varying the proportion of this excess air.
The hot gases leaving the superheater 10 still contain a substantial proportion of oxygen and are fed by a mixing device 30 into the duct through which air from the fan 24 is supplied to the burners 32 of the boiler 12.
In the embodiment of the installation shown in fi-. 2, a separately heated superheater 40 is used to increase the superheat temperature of steam produced by a boiler 42 having a superheater 44 integral with it. A main shut-off valve 46 and a safety valve 48 are arranged in the steam line between the two superheaters 44 and 40.
Combustion air supplied to superheater 40 is drawn in from a fan 50 which also supplies air to boiler 42. A steam air heater 52 is disposed in the main air duct of the fan. to preheat the air supplied to both the superheater 40 and the boiler 42. The heater 52 can be added or replaced by an air heater in the duct of the boiler 42.
The steam leaving the boiler 42 is suitable for use in an auxiliary engine and in marine installations to drive a reverse turbine. The overheating temperature of the steam drawn from the steam line before the main shut-off valve 46 is regulated by means of an air desuperheater 54 placed in the line 56 by means of which combustion air is supplied. supplied to the boiler 42. The de-superheater 54 comprises an air bypass 58 and its action can be regulated by a pair of valves 60.
In these separately heated superheaters (10, 40) it may be necessary or desirable to have a booster fan between the main forced draft fans (24, 50) and the superheater. Fig. 2 shows the use of such a fan 62 intended to enhance the supply of primary air to the burner 64 of the superheater 40. Secondary air is supplied directly from the main air duct to a casing 66 partially surrounding the. superheater combustion chamber 40.
The fan 62 can be disposed if desired to boost the secondary as well as the primary air pressure.
In the embodiment of the installation shown in FIG. 3, a separately heated superheater 70 is used to avoid the use of long and expensive heat-resistant tubing when very high temperature steam is used, in this case, to drive a turbine assembly 74, at a low temperature. point away from a boiler 72.
The installation comprises the boiler 72 which has a superheater 78 integral therewith intended to supply moderately superheated steam. The separate superheater 70 is disposed near the turbine assembly 74 and gases containing hot oxygen from the superheater are supplied to the boiler 72 through a conduit 76.
Steam from boiler 72 is supplied to superheater 70 through a main line 82 which is provided with a safety valve 80 and a main shut-off valve 84. Steam for a reverse turbine and for ancillary devices is available in branches 88 and 86 disposed before the shut-off valve 84.
Steam leaving superheater 70 at very high superheat is supplied to the high pressure turbine of group 74 by a short section of heat resistant duct 90. The main steam line 82 and the valves 80 and 84 may be of normal materials and samples.
It is not necessary that the hot gases containing oxygen from the superheater (10, 40, 70) return to the same heating installation (12, 42, 72) from from which the superheater receives its steam. The gases can be used to maintain combustion, for example in another boiler, of an installation comprising a series of boilers.
