<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

Training shooting apparatus operated with compressed gas The present invention relates to a training shooting apparatus operated with compressed gas, which consists of a firing device to be inserted in the lock case of a firearm instead of the breech and a compressed gas supply unit.
In some known training shooting apparatus of this type, in particular intended for machine guns, the compressed gas is supplied to the shooting device from a separately arranged compressed gas feed unit via a pressure line. On the other hand, air rifles with a pressurized gas feed unit built into the weapon are known.
In the training shooting apparatus according to the invention, the compressed gas supply unit equipped with a compressed gas container and a valve to be controlled by the shooting device is designed as a unit that is structurally separate from the shooting device and can be inserted into the magazine chamber of the firearm instead of the magazine.
An example embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is explained in more detail below with the aid of the accompanying drawing. The figure shows the essential part of a firearm with an inserted training shooting apparatus in a longitudinal section.
The firearm chosen as an application example is a Mauser rifle with the lock box 1, the cartridge chamber 2, the magazine chamber delimited at the front and rear by walls 3 and 4 and the trigger device 5 with the trigger tunnel 6.
The training shooting apparatus consists of a shooting device 7, which is inserted into the breech block 1 of the rifle instead of the normal lock, and a compressed gas supply unit B, which is designed as a unit that is structurally separate from the shooting device and is inserted into the magazine chamber of the rifle instead of the magazine Shooting device in the disengaged and uncharged state and the compressed gas feed unit shown in the standby state. The bolt case, magazine chamber and trigger mechanism of the rifle remain unchanged.
The fixed part of the shooting device 7 has a hollow cylinder 9 in which the insert barrel 10, which is inserted into the unchanged barrel of the rifle and serves to guide the bullets to be fired with compressed gas, is fixed and which extends to the rear end of the shooting device extending jacket tube 11 is connected. On the underside of this hollow cylinder, which partially has a flat surface, there is an opening 12 for the entry of the pressurized gas from the pressurized gas feed unit 8 into the insert barrel 10.
The shooting device has a trough-shaped recess 13 on the upper side of the hollow cylinder 9, which serves as a magazine for receiving several balls 14 and which is connected to the insert barrel 10 through an opening 15. The closure of this magazine is formed by a sleeve 16 rotatable around the hollow cylinder 9, which is provided with a filling opening 17 and is held against axial displacement between an end sleeve 18 and the jacket tube 11.
A locking ball 19 under spring pressure prevents more than one ball from getting into the insert barrel during loading. A locking cam 20 is attached to the side of the jacket tube 11 (indicated by dash-dotted lines), on which the shooting device is held in the position to be assumed in the lock box 1 with the aid of the bolt holder (not shown) on the rifle. The locking cam 20 is adapted to the longitudinal groove present in the lock box in such a way that the shooting device simultaneously counteracts
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Rotation is secured. The rear end of the jacket tube 11 is closed by a tube nut 21.
The movable part of the shooting device contains in the rear part of the jacket tube 11 a longitudinally movable hammer 22 for actuating the compressed gas feed unit 8, which can be tensioned by means of a tensioning handle 23 against the pressure of a striker spring 24 up to the stop formed by a sleeve 25 and one with the trigger tunnel 6 of the rifle cooperating, guided in a longitudinal slot 26 of the jacket tube 11 locking cams 27 has. A pushrod 28, which is mounted so that it can move longitudinally in the barrel 10 and is provided with an opening 29 through which the compressed gas passes from the gas inlet opening 12 into the interior of the barrel 28 and from there forward into the barrel 10, is connected to the striker 22 .
The compressed gas feed unit has a block 30 which is adapted to the shape of the magazine chamber of the rifle and which contains a pressure chamber 31 closed by a check valve. On said block 30 there is provided a threaded connector 33 which is connected to the pressure chamber 31 via a channel 32 and has a screwed-on sleeve 34 for receiving a pressurized gas capsule 35, which in the center of its bore contains a pointed opening nozzle 37 which pierces the closure 36 of the pressurized gas capsule when it is placed . The seals which close the head of the pressurized gas capsule to the outside are designated by 38 and 39.
The check valve comprises a valve housing 40 screwed into the block 30, a sealing ring 41, a valve plate 42 and a plunger 44 connected to this and under the pressure of a check spring 43. When the check valve is open, the pressurized gas passes through the channel 45 in the valve housing 40 to a The outlet nozzle 46 partially protrudes into the gas inlet opening 12 of the shooting device and is screwed to the block 30 together with a connecting seal 47 at the gas outlet point. The connecting seal 47 closes the passage gas-tight to the outside at the transition point.
A hammer 48 for actuating the check valve is freely rotatable on the block 30 and protrudes into the effective area of the hammer 22 of the shooting device, so that the force impulse given to the hammer when the shot is triggered is transmitted to the plunger 44 of the check valve by means of this hammer 48.
To hold the compressed gas feed unit 8 in the magazine chamber of the rifle, two hooks 49 projecting on block 30 (only one hook is visible in the drawing), which overlap the upper edge of magazine chamber wall 4, and a pawl rotatably mounted on block 30 are used 50, which, under the pressure of a spring 51, engages in a groove 52 present in the magazine chamber wall 3.
The training shooting apparatus is assembled in such a way that, after removing the normal breech and the magazine from the rifle, the shooting device 7 is first pushed in until the hollow cylinder 9 hits the bottom of the chamber 2, the breech of the rifle in front of the locking cam 20 engages. Then the compressed gas feed unit 8 is pushed into the magazine chamber until the pawl 50 is in the groove. 52 snaps into place. The connection between the compressed gas feed unit 8 and the shooting device 7 is thus established.
In order to charge the compressed gas feed unit 8, the sleeve 34 with an inserted compressed gas capsule 35 is screwed onto the threaded connector 33. Here, the closure 36 of the pressurized gas capsule 35 is pressed against the tip of the opening nozzle 37, which pierces the closure 36 so that the pressurized gas can flow out of the capsule 35 and penetrate through the opening nozzle 37 and the channel 32 to the check valve in the pressure chamber 31. The pressurized gas feed unit is now in the ready state.
To load the shooting device 7, the magazine sleeve 16 is rotated until the filling opening 17 is above the trough 13. The balls 14 are then filled into the recess 13, and the recess is then closed again by turning the magazine sleeve 16 back.
In order to cock the shooting device, the cocking handle 23 is pulled backwards against the force of the striker spring 24 until it stops. Together with the cocking handle 23, the striker 22 and the push tube 28 move backwards, with the locking cam 27 sliding over the sear 6. When the stop formed by the sleeve 25 is reached, the pushrod 28 has receded so far that the rearmost of the balls 14 in the recess 13 falls through the opening 15 into the barrel 10 when the rifle is held diagonally upwards with the barrel muzzle when cocking . The locking ball 19, which protrudes somewhat into the insert barrel 10 when the push tube 28 is withdrawn, prevents more than one ball from falling into the insert barrel.
When the cocking handle 23 is released after the cocking has taken place, the movable part of the firing device slides forward again under the pressure of the cocked striker spring 24 until the stop of the locking cam 27 on the sear 6 of the rifle. In this position, the opening 15 of the trough 13 is closed by the push tube 28 pushed forward. The ball located in the barrel 10 lies in front of the mouth of the push tube 28 and is prevented from rolling further by the locking ball 19. In this state, the shooting device 7 is cocked and loaded.
When the trigger device 5 of the rifle is actuated, the trigger gallery 6 gives way downwards
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
and releases the locking cam 27. The movable part of the firing device 7 now snaps forward under the pressure of the tensioned striker spring 24, with the striking piece 22 striking the upper end of the hammer 48 with its end face before reaching the front end position, which hits the force pulse received on the plunger 44 of the Rückschlagven - tils transfers.
The plunger 44 is consequently pressed inwardly against the force of the non-return spring 43 and the gas pressure prevailing in the pressure chamber 31, whereby the non-return valve is opened, but is immediately closed again by the aforementioned forces, since the mainspring 24 has now relaxed. At the same time, the striking piece 22 moves together with the push tube 28 further towards the front end position, so that the opening 29 in the push tube comes to lie above the gas inlet opening 12.
The gas escaping from the pressure chamber 31 via the briefly opened non-return valve can now flow into the push tube 28 through the aligned openings 12 and 29 and drives the ball lying in front of the mouth of the push tube out of the barrel 10. Then the moving parts of the training shooting apparatus take hold again the position shown in the figure. After the cocking handle 23 is actuated again, the shooting device 7 is cocked and loaded again.
Compressed carbonic acid (COJ or air) is preferably used as the operating medium. Of course, other compressed gases can also be used. Tests have shown that the content of a commercially available compressed gas capsule filled with carbonic acid of about 5 cm3 volume with a suitable dimensioning of the Schlab spring for about 100 shots sufficient.
The training shooting apparatus described is characterized u. a. due to the following advantageous properties: The normal firearm can be transformed into a training weapon for shooting at short distances in a very short time with the few simple movements that the use of the training shooting apparatus requires. Thanks to the design and placement chosen, the compressed gas feed unit takes up practically no more space than the cartridge magazine of the firearm, so that the shooter is not hindered when shooting.
Of course, the invention is not limited to the embodiment shown. For example, the proposed training shooting apparatus can be adapted to any magazine firearm, with the pressurized gas capsule being able to be arranged in any desired position on the block of the pressurized gas feed unit.
