Hydroelectric group The present invention relates to a vertical hydroelectric group, for low pressure, in which the spiral chamber is arranged around a metal box coaxial with the shaft of the group, supporting the bearings and the axial pivot. of the group, and supported by a crown of fixed front guide vanes which itself rest on the foundation at the periphery of the annular outlet channel of the spiral chamber, characterized in that, to make it possible to reduce the diametral dimensions of the spiral chamber, said box is formed, at least in the upper half of said spiral chamber, by that of the turbine wheel and, below said cylindrical element,
by an approximately frustoconical element whose lower base has a diameter equal to that of the hub of said wheel, and constituting the central core of said annular outlet channel of the spiral chamber.
In the accompanying drawing, there is shown more or less schematically, by way of example, two embodiments of a hydroelectric unit in accordance with the invention.
Fig. 1 is a vertical section through a Kaplan turbine unit in which the alternator is placed above the metal casing.
Fig. 2 is a vertical section through a group in which the alternator is arranged inside the metal box.
In these figures, 1 designates the impeller of the turbine, mounted below a spiral chamber 2 which, arranged in the concrete block 3 of the central, is in direct communication with the upstream level 4. In the center of the spiral chamber 2 is arranged a metal box 5 embedded in the concrete beam 6 which forms the ceiling of the spiral chamber; this box is supported on the foundations via the casing 7 of the turbine, by means of beams 8 which constitute the fixed front-steering vanes.
In its upper part and at least in the upper half of the spiral chamber, the casing 5 is formed by a cylindrical element with a diameter at most equal to that of the turbine wheel. This cylindrical element is connected to an approximately frustoconical element whose lower base, located in the immediate vicinity of the hub of the turbine wheel, has a diameter equal to that of this hub. The frustoconical element constitutes the central core of an annular channel 10, the outer wall of which is formed by the casing 7. Said cylindrical element bears on. the crown of front guide vanes fixed by an annu lar base inscribed in the diameter of said cylindrical element.
Around the casing 7 are arranged the usual control members of the blades 11 of the distributor, which are articulated around axes approximately perpendicular to the central core of the annular channel 10, so as to constitute a conical distributor of reduced diameter.
The lower part 9 of the box 5 carries the lower guide bearing 12 of the shaft 13 of the group. In the embodiment shown in FIG. 1, the pivot 14 of the group is arranged inside the box 5, which further contains a device 15 for supplying pressurized oil to the servomotor for controlling the blades of the Kaplan wheel. The alternator consisting of the stator 16 and the rotor 17 is placed above the beam 6 which absorbs the reaction of the electric torque from the alternator.
In the second embodiment shown in FIG. 2, the stator 16 of the alternator is arranged inside the casing 5, while the pivot 14 and the oil supply device 15 are placed at the top.
This arrangement lends itself particularly well to installation in a battery-powered type plant; it makes it possible, in fact, to reduce the plan dimension of each group and to improve the supply of the water inlet chamber to the turbine.
Alternatively, the pivot could be placed on the cover of the turbine or on the upper cross of the alternator.
