Description
SYSTEM FOR GENERATING ENERGY FROM WATER FLOWING THROUGH A PIPE
Technical Field
The invention relates to a system for generating energy by rotating turbines with water flowing through various pipes such as GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic) etc.
State of the Art
Electricity generation from water is realized by converting the kinetic energy into electrical energy with the rotation of the turbines by flowing water. Hydroelectric power plants that generate electricity from water are divided into two main groups: with and without dams. Hydroelectric power plants with dams are the plants where water is stored in a reservoir and, the water is released, and electricity is generated by rotating the turbines when needed. Hydroelectric power plants without dams, on the other hand, are generally built without a reservoir in places where the water flow rate is high, and they generate electricity directly with the rotation of the turbines by the flowing water. The disadvantage of power plants without dams is that they are affected by seasonality. During the months of high rainfall, the flow rate of the rivers is high, and the generation of these power plants is high, but during dry periods, when the water does not flow at all, these power plants cannot generate electricity. After the existing water turbines generate electricity, the water line turns into an open line and loses its initial flow structure. Lucid energy, a well-known company in the world, has systems installed directly on the line. Their vane structures have the shape of a ball. There is no other known manufacturer. The energy of lines such as irrigation water and drinking water flowing with their own gravity is wasted.
The abstract of the application number TR2021/006402, which has been obtained as a result of technical research is as follows: "The invention is a new generation hydroelectric power plant designed for electricity generation without the formation of a dam body and dam basin for the hydroelectric power plant wherein it comprises at least one main pool, at least one or more helical spiral pipe, at least one or more motors, at least one or more intermediate pools, at least one or more penstock pipes, at least one or more turbines, at least one or more main shafts, at least one or more helical spiral pipes, at least one or more gear systems, at least one or more bearings, at least one or more bearing seats fixed to the base of the bearing system mounted around the circumference of the helical spiral tubes, at least one or more clamps and at least one or more fixing arms".
As can be seen, the system relates to hydroelectric power plants and does not mention a structure that can provide a solution to the above disadvantages.
The abstract of the application number US7959411 B2, which has been obtained as a result of technical research is as follows: " A generally spherical turbine configured to rotate transversely within a cylindrical pipe under the power of fluid flowing either direction therethrough is operatively coupled with a rotating machine or generator to produce electricity. In one embodiment, the blades of the spherical turbine curve in an approximately 180 degree arc in a plane that is at an inclined angle relative to the rotational axis of a central shaft. In another embodiment, a deflector is provided upstream of the spherical turbine and within the cylindrical pipe to control flow through the spherical turbine by shielding a part thereof. The blades of the spherical turbine are airfoil in cross section to optimize hydrodynamic flow, to minimize cavitation, and to maximize conversion from axial to rotating energy."
As can be seen, the application numbered US7959411 B2 provides for power generation with a spherical turbine. In addition, it does not have a structure that allows water to be directed. The power loss is high. In the system covered by the application, the water diverter device directs the water to the vane, the water moves upward along the vane, and exits through the outlet opening. Since the angle of the outlet opening is opposite to that of the inlet opening, there is less power loss as the water moves along the vane.
Therefore, due to the disadvantages mentioned above and inadequacy of the existing solutions, it has become necessary to make an improvement in the relevant technical field.
Objective of the invention
The objective of the invention is to provide a structure with different technical characteristics, in contrast to the structures used in the current technology and opens up new possibilities in this field.
The main objective of the invention is to provide electricity generation by installing on water pipes flowing under its own gravity with a different impeller shape in such a way as to minimize the flow characteristics and prevent the energy of the water from being wasted.
With the turbine design of the invention, it is possible to generate electricity from pipes that flow with their own gravity and where there is no pressure problem. The invention is intended to be one of the few turbine models that can generate electricity from a closed conduit. It will be the first turbine model in Turkey that can generate electricity on closed pressurized lines. It will also be applicable to lines with different diameters and pressures. It will be a pioneer in the world that water turbines can also operate on pressurized lines. Thus, electric power will be produced by manufacturing water turbines made of GRP.
In order to accomplish the objectives described above, the invention is a water turbine system for generating power from water flowing through pipes, comprising the following:
top cover which covers and seals the top of the water turbine and is attached to body with bolts and nuts, bottom cover which covers and seals the bottom of the water turbine and is attached to the body with bolts and nuts,
• water diverter apparatus placed in the body cavity that forms the inner part of the body, which directs the water coming from the lower water inlet to the upper water outlet,
• impeller which is placed inside the water diverter apparatus and rotates with water power to rotate the impeller shaft fixed to the impeller,
• impeller shaft, which provides fixation for the impeller and rotates the electric generator by means of a gear or belt and pulley mechanism.
The structural and characteristic features and all the advantages of the invention will be more clearly understood by means of the figures given below and the detailed description written with reference to these figures, and therefore evaluation should be made by taking these figures and the detailed description into consideration.
