Process for the continuous supply of the substance to paper machines and inlet chamber for carrying out the process In the case of the known methods and devices for the uninterrupted supply of the substance to paper machines, it has been shown that the substance supplied to the closed inlet chamber always contains a certain amount of air as a result of the pretreatment of the same and contains foam. However, if aerated material and foam are brought onto the forming surface of the paper machine, this leads to products of lower quality.
The invention aims to eliminate this disadvantage, and this is achieved by a method for the continuous supply of the substance to paper machines, in which means are provided, which the substance coming from the substance inlet an upwardly directed, the air-guiding parts of the same collecting and with the foam give mirror-dissipating flow from the substance, further through an inlet chamber for carrying out the method, in which a guide wall is arranged in the vicinity of the substance inlet, which causes an upward flow of the substance.
An example embodiment of the inlet chamber according to the invention is shown in the drawing, purely schematically in a vertical section. 1 is the closed inlet chamber, hereinafter referred to as chamber for short, which is provided with pressure control means 2 and 3, by means of which a constant pressure above the substance and within the chamber 1 can be maintained. In order to ensure an overflow of the substance, a partition 4 is provided in the chamber 1, the upper part of which is designed as a pivotable threshold 5, 6 so that the substance over the latter in the separate from the rest of the chamber 1 department 7 can flow.
The pivotability of the threshold 5, 6 makes it possible to regulate the overflow height.
A substance inlet 8 is provided for feeding the substance into the chamber 1, into which substance a suitable consistency is pumped. From the fabric inlet 8, the fabric passes via the guide rollers 8a, 8b into the anteroom 9 of the floor of the fabric inlet and from there via a compensating roller 10, which is arranged near the upper opening of the anteroom 9, into the chamber 1 itself. The performance of the not shown Neten feed pump is regulated in such a way that substance can continuously flow over the threshold 5, 6.
From the department 7, into which the substance flows over, it is fed back into the circulation system by means of a drain pipe 11. In order to keep the fabric level constant in the department 7, a float 13 is arranged in the same, which is surrounded by a protective tube 12 and influences a valve 15 in the drain pipe 11 by means of a regulating device 14.
In order to feed the substance to the forming screen 16 of the paper machine, the chamber 1 is provided with a drain opening 17 which extends over the entire width of the forming screen 16. A guide plate 19 is arranged at the mouth of the outflow opening 17. The outflowing substance and the direction of the same can be regulated by means of the guide plate 19 and the adjustable coating plate 20.
In order to keep the substance homogeneous in the chamber 1, suitable mixing devices are arranged inside it; In the example, three perforated rollers 21 arranged one above the other are provided for this purpose.
A guide wall 22 is arranged in front of the rollers 21 and extends over the entire width of the chamber 1. At its lower end, the guide wall 22 is arched according to the shape of the lowermost roller 21. The guide wall 22 guides the inflowing material upwards and prevents it from reaching the lowermost perforated roller directly; it forces the air-conducting material and the foam to gel to the surface, where it overflows and is removed from the chamber 1.
In the chamber 1, a perforated roller 23 is also arranged, which can also be replaced by a paddle roller. This roller 23 is arranged in the vicinity of the chamber wall provided with the outflow opening 17 at such a height that its uppermost part lies in the area of the material level, its position being dependent on the overflow regulation. When the roller 23 rotates in the direction indicated by the arrow, a surface flow directed towards the overflow edge 6 is achieved, as indicated by arrows. In this way, the air-carrying material with the foam is diverted into the overflow compartment 7 and prevented from mixing with the material flowing to the forming wire 16 of the paper machine.
Since the guide wall 22 leads the air-conducting substance and the foam upwards and through the perforated roller 23 to the overflow threshold 5, 6, since the overflow department 7 also removes it from the chamber 1, the material fed to the forming screen 16 of the paper machine is free of Air bubbles and foam, so that a product of uniform quality is achieved.
The invention therefore results in considerable advantages.
The upper part of the partition 4 does not necessarily have to be pivotable. The guide wall 22 can be higher or lower than described ben and drawn.
The other details of the chamber 1 can also be designed in the most varied of ways within the scope of the invention.
