Device for converting an oscillating movement running around an axis into a rotary movement running in one direction. The invention relates to a device for converting an oscillating movement running around an axis into a rotary motion running in one direction. Such a motion conversion is, for example, generally used in those cases in which one end of a drive rod is connected to a crankshaft, while the other end executes an oscillating movement extending about an axis.
Examples of such applications are the drive of a pedal sewing machine and a flying Dutchman, i.e. a toy that children use as a vehicle, with a rod being driven by the driver with his hands in a swinging movement around an axis which rod is connected to the rear wheel axle as a crank shaft by means of a drive rod.
According to the invention, the device is constructed from a magnetic synchronous clutch, the driving part of which is intended to be given such an oscillation about an axis that the oscillating movement in the direction opposite to the direction of rotation of the part of the coupling to be driven is faster than the oscillating movement in the direction of rotation of the part to be driven, so that the two parts are coupled during the slower movement of the driving part, but slip during the faster movement of the driving part.
The above-mentioned device can advantageously be used, for example, for driving a pedal sewing machine in which the element to be operated with the feet is connected directly or via a shaft to the driving part of the synchronous clutch. The part of the clutch to be driven will rotate in only one direction if the vibration of the organ to be operated with the feet is performed faster in the direction opposite to this direction of rotation than in the opposite direction. After a little practice, the correct operation with the feet will not be any more difficult than the operation with conventional pedal sewing machines.
The advantage of the device according to the invention is that the parts of the synchronizer clutch are only coupled magnetically periodically, so that the loss of energy through friction is minimal. During the mutual slipping of the parts, these parts are practically completely decoupled, which means that no moment is transferred from one part to the other. This also means a reduction in the friction losses occurring in the known devices. In addition, the device according to the invention requires less maintenance than the known devices as a result of its a times mechanical structure.
In the invention, use is made of a known property of a magnetic synchronous clutch, namely that this clutch practically no longer transmits any force couple in the event of slip. Consequently, with a foot drive, for example, the oscillating movement of the driving part in the opposite direction to the direction of rotation of the driven coupling part is carried out very easily and automatically faster than the movement in the opposite direction, since the driven part is not coupled, i.e. in one freely movable state.
The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to an exemplary embodiment shown schematically in the accompanying drawings.
The drawing shows a magnetic synchronous clutch in the drive of a pedal sewing machine. Parts 1 and 2 of this coupling have each a disk-shaped magnet made of permanent magnet material, in which poles N and S in the axial direction Are magnetized, which be viewed along a pitch circle generate a magnetic field with alternately changing direction. The part 1 is directly connected by a shaft 4 to a pedal catch 3 , which is driven in a swinging movement with the feet ang, namely in an oscillating movement around the axis of the shaft 4 faster in one direction than in the other.
The deflection of the oscillation of the pedal peg 3 can, for example, be limited in both directions by cams (not shown). The part 2 has a pulley 6 arranged on a shaft 5 , which is connected by a rope 7 with a flywheel, e.g. B. a sewing machine, can be coupled. As is usual with the known Tretnähmaschi NEN, the flywheel and therefore the part 2 can first be moved by hand in the correct direction of rotation before the pedal peg 3 is set in motion, so that during the drive the correct direction of rotation of the machine is guaranteed.
With the slower movement of parts 3 and 1 in one direction, parts 1 and 2 are coupled to one another and transfer the Driving force on parts 6 and 7.
If it is ensured that the pedal peg 3 protrudes over unequal distances on both sides of the shaft 4, it can be achieved more easily that the oscillating movement is carried out slightly faster in one direction than in the other becomes. It is also possible to connect the footrest 3 to a fixed part of the device with the aid of a spring 8 .
The deflection of the vibration of the pedal peg 3 is automatically limited in this way and the spring 8 can bring about the rapid movement of the pedal peg while the parts 1 and 2 are slipping.
