Helmut Blombach, Remscheid-Lüttringhausen (Germany), has been named as the inventor their nasal surfaces interlock.
In these known couplings, the entire tensile force is transmitted over the mutual contact surfaces of the two coupling lugs, which must be made correspondingly large. Due to the wear between the bolt and the coupling body in which the bolt is embedded, as well as due to wear on the locking surfaces themselves, there is an ever increasing play between the abutting surfaces of the two coupling heads. This is particularly uncomfortable when electrical lines or air lines are to be coupled with the coupling at the same time.
However, a certain amount of play between the two locking lugs must already exist in order to enable coupling. The greater this clearance, the easier and safer the coupling process, so that a certain gap must always be expected. The overlap of the dome noses in about the middle of the dome head causes the dome heads to lie against each other at the edge in the curve and a very considerable distance between the dome heads on the opposite side.
The invention has for its object on the one hand to enlarge the contact surface and on the other hand to keep the gap between the coupling heads as possible ge ring.
According to the invention, this is to be achieved in that each coupling body has a contact surface for the nose of the closure member of the opposing head. The contact surface is expediently placed as far as possible on the outer edge of the coupling body, in which case the closure members do not move towards the center of the coupling head, as in the known couplings, but move from the center outwards. As locking organs can be arranged NEN latches; But it can also be seen easily hook-shaped, pivotable parts. To create the contact surface, a special insert is expediently used, which is stored exchangeably in a recess of the coupling head.
The invention is explained below with reference to the accompanying drawing, in which FIGS. 1 and 3 show a known, automatic coupling with bars displaceable in its longitudinal axis, FIGS. 2 and 4 show an exemplary embodiment of a coupling according to the invention and FIGS. 5 a special version.
The coupling consists of the two counter coupling heads, in the coupling body 1 and 2, respectively, bolts 3 and 4 are embedded as locking elements. The bars are formed like a nose at one end. You are in a known manner under the action of springs, and there are known unlocking devices are provided.
In the known design of the coupling according to FIGS. 1 and 3, the bolts 3 and 4 are arranged so that, as shown in FIG. 1, they are in the coupling position with their two lugs, which are directed towards the center of the dome, reach behind each other. If there is severe wear and tear and the vehicles to be coupled are in the curve, the coupling heads will touch one another on the inside of the curve at i and stand apart at a relatively large distance s on the outside of the curve. In the design of the coupling according to FIGS. 2 and 4, the latches 3 and 4 with their noses are not directed towards the center of the coupling head, but rather facing away from one another.
They work together with the contact surfaces 5 and 6, the contact surface 5 belonging to the coupling body 1 and the contact surface 6 belonging to the coupling body 2. With the arrangement of the bolts, as shown in FIG. 4, the wedge-shaped gap between the contact surfaces of the dome bodies cannot become as large as in the known couplings according to FIG. 3.
The mutual contact surfaces of the lugs in the known coupling according to FIG. 1 must have a certain size in order to carry the tensile forces, that is, the lugs themselves must have a certain minimum size. If the noses of the two bars do not work together, but rather with additional contact surfaces 5 or 6 of the opposing head (FIG. 2), the individual nose surface can be kept correspondingly smaller while transmitting the same tensile forces.
The invention is not limited to a design of the closure members as a bolt, as shown in the drawing, but it also includes couplings with hook-shaped, pivotable closure members.
If you want to accept the disadvantage of the larger Spaltbil formation and the bars in the direction provided in the known couplings with the lugs after the coupling center to be arranged, the bars are staggered in the longitudinal direction one behind the other, which then has the advantage that with Ver say one bolt at least the other bolt remains engaged. It is also possible to arrange two staggered contact surfaces 5 and 5 'one behind the other on each coupling body, which has the advantage that if the coupling bolt does not fully engage behind the final contact surface 5, at least one securing takes place behind the contact surface 5'.
