Maximilien Felix Reynst, Eindhoven (Netherlands), has been named as the inventor. The invention relates to a device having a magnet system that holds a part of a number of plate-shaped permanent magnets and alternately between them attached, thinner, plate-shaped bodies consists of a material with high permeability, i.e. at least as high a permeability as soft iron,
wherein the plate-shaped magnets are magnetized in the direction of their thickness and the magnetic poles of the two permanent magnets adjoining one and the same plate-shaped body have the same sign, and is characterized in that a second part; which is assembled in the same way as the first-mentioned part, relative to the latter over the length of at least one Poltei development so displaceably mounted that in one position poles with the same polarity and in the other position poles with opposite polarity of each part opposite each other, for the purpose that the useful flux of the magnet system can be regulated.
As a permanent magnetic material, preference is given to using a material that can practically not be demagnetized, e.g. B. a material that is in Switzerland. Patents No. 306773 and No. 319022 he is mentioned.
Such a device is suitable for various applications. The possible applications include, for example, magnetic filters, lifting magnets, magnetic clamping plates, magnetic brakes, and use is appropriate in those places where the strength of the magnetic field needs to be regulated over a wide range from a minimum value to a maximum value.
With reference to the accompanying drawings, some schematically illustrated embodiments of the invention are explained in more detail below, wherein FIGS. 1, 2 and 3 show a plan view, a side view and a front view of the first example of a device.
The device consists of two parts 1 and 2, each with a number of plate-shaped permanent magnets 3 and 4 and alternately between them attached, thinner, plate-shaped body 5 and 6 made of a material with high permeability, for. B. soft iron included. The plate-shaped magnets are magnetized in the direction of their thickness, and the polarities of the poles of the magnets adjoining one and the same plate-shaped body 5 or 6 on both sides are the same.
Part 2 is arranged opposite part 1 in such a way that poles 7 and 8 of plate-shaped bodies 5 and 6, in which the flux is highly concentrated due to the dimensions of these bodies, have the same polarity, so that a strong effective field 9 is created. However, the part 2 can be moved relative to the part 1 by one pole pitch 10, for example to the right. After such a shift, poles of unequal polarity of the plate-shaped bodies 5 and 6 face one another, so that the magnet system is short-circuited and the effective field 9 practically disappears.
Such a device can be used, for example, as a clamping plate, lifting magnet (in the position according to FIG. 2) or a magnetic filter.
If, for example, part 2 is shifted somewhat downwards in parallel, so that there is an air gap between the two parts 1 and 2, this can serve as an effective air gap for a magnetic filter. In this case, however, the effective flux is minimal in the position shown in FIG. 2, since the same poles are opposite one another, in contrast to the case discussed above.
After a shift by one tooth pitch 10, unequal poles are opposite one another, so that the filter is then suitable for collecting ferromagnetic particles in the air gap; when pushing back the part 2 they can be removed, and the better, the narrower the air gap is made. The device according to FIGS. 2 and 3 can also be used as a filter without an air gap.
According to FIGS. 4 and 5, the same principle is applied to a magnetic brake. A disc 11 made of non-ferromagnetic material with a low electrical resistance, e.g. B. copper or aluminum, is arranged rotatably about a shaft 12.
Annular parts 1 and 2 are attached to both sides of the disk and consist alternately of a number of plate-shaped permanent magnets 3 and 4 and plate-shaped bodies 5 and 6, respectively. If unequal poles are opposite one another, as is indicated in FIG. 5, the disk is cut by the maximum flux, and the braking effect under the action of the Foucault currents is maximum. After displacement, e.g. B. the part 2 to a pole pitch in the tangential direction, the braking effect is mini times. In this way, the braking effect, which can be very strong due to the large number of magnetic poles, can be regulated within wide limits.
Such a brake, but in the form of a drum brake, is shown in FIGS. The brake drum is designated by 13 and is arranged in the air gap of the annular parts 1 and 2. The mode of operation is similar to that already described with reference to FIGS. 4 and 5.
