A device for magnetic return of the anchor of a timepiece The present invention relates to a device for magnetic return of the anchor of a timepiece. This device is particularly intended for electric timepieces with a driving balance in which the transformation of the reciprocating movement of the balance into a unidirectional rotational movement takes place by a snap constituted, for example, by a plate wedged on the balance axis. , a ratchet anchor and a ratchet wheel, these three members being constructed according to known principles allowing the wheel to be controlled by the anchor and to always rotate in the same direction.
Due to the fact that the ratchet wheel is driven by the anchor, no pulling effect of the wheel on the anchor can be benefited from in order to hold the latter against the limiting pins. The anchor is therefore free, which leads to frequent interaction of the stinger and the small plate, the anchor locking members. This interaction alters the quality of adjustment of the timepiece.
There are many devices for maintaining the anchor against the limiting pins. Most of these devices are mechanical and include springs, jumpers, etc., making it possible to retain the anchor in each of its two extreme end-of-travel positions. These devices are generally difficult to implement. They require adjustments on the part of the worker who assembles the part, and more often than not they need to be lubricated.
In another known device, the route of the escapement is modified so as to eliminate the effect of pulling the wheel on the anchor, and the holding of the anchor against the limit stops is obtained by magnetic means, especially by magnetic pins. The device which is the subject of the present invention takes up this idea, but presents numerous improvements.
In a timepiece with a motor balance, where the motor is not polarized, it is essential that the movable armatures integral with the balance and the fixed armatures or pole pieces of the stator are not the site of permanent magnetization, however weak. -she. Such magnetization in fact causes isochronism defects which make the envisaged timepieces completely uninteresting. The pure and simple application of the magnetic return device of the anchor described above leads precisely, because of its summary design, to the magnetization of the sheets of the motor by magnetic leakage effect.
The device according to the invention precisely makes it possible to avoid practically any magnetic leakage originating from the magnetic return device of the anchor. It is characterized by a permanent magnet fixed to the plate of the wheel.

element of the timepiece, magnet against the ends of which rest two magnetic pins limiting the travel of the anchor by serving for this purpose as stops for a part made of material permeable to magnetism, wedged on the anchor rod and comprising two limiting holes in each of which is engaged one of said pins, said part being shaped so as to practically close the magnetic circuit of the permanent magnet.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the device which is the subject of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a top plan view of this embodiment.
Fig. 2 is a section taken along line II-11 of FIG. 1.
The device shown comprises a permanent magnet 1 formed by a relatively long bar relative to its section. Magnet 1 is formed from an alloy with high remanence and high coercive force, such as Ticonal or Alnico products (registered trademarks); it is magnetized lengthwise, so that, for example, the South Pole is on the left and the North Pole is on the right, in Figs. 1 and 2. The permanent magnet 1 is crimped in a manner not shown under the plate 2, in a recess 3 of the latter.
Two cylindrical pins 4 and 5, shaped in an alloy with very high magnetic permeability, such as the Armco or Per- malloy products (registered trademarks), are driven into the plate 2 and rest against the ends of the magnet 1, the pins being oriented perpendicularly to the magnet 1. The latter thus forms a sort of bridge over the pins 4 and 5.
In order to close as completely as possible the magnetic field of magnet 1 flanked by pins 4 and 5, a magnetic shunt, formed by a sheet metal plate 6 cut from a material with very high magnetic permeability and low remanence, such as Armco or Permalloy products, is wedged on the anchor rod 7. The section of the shunt 6 is determined in such a way that it is not in any way saturated by the flux of the permanent magnet 1. In the plate 6 are cut two circular holes 8 and 9.
The anchor 10, pivoted between the plate 2 and the bar 11, is here of the side anchor type, but it goes without saying that it could just as well be of the type in which the fork is located approximately on the right connecting the axis of the anchor wheel and the axis of the anchor.
The setting of the plate 6 on the anchor rod 7, as well as the arrangement of the pins 4 and 5 in the plate 2, are chosen so that the limitation of the travel of the anchor 10, defined by its angle of lifting, takes place geometrically by stopping the walls of holes 8 and 9 of plate 6 against pins 4 and 5. In this way, in each of the two extreme positions of anchor 10, the magnetic circuit is practically closed without air gap. Its reluctance is thus extremely low with respect to the leakage reluctance of the magnet 1 towards the sheets of the motor, which represents a great advantage over the above-mentioned known device for magnetic return of the anchor.
On the other hand, the fact that, during the movement of the anchor 10 relative to the pins 4 and 5, the pins constantly remain inside the circular holes 8 and 9 of the magnetic shunt 6, constitutes another advantage of the device. which, throughout the course of the anchor, thus works with very low magnetic circuit reluctances. As the attraction of the shunt 6 by the pins 4 and 5 could be relatively strong when the shunt 6 is glued against the pins, we wedge on the pins, at the height of the shunt 6, a thin ring 12 of non-magnetic material, of so as to create a very small air gap preventing shunt 6 from sticking against the pins. This ring 12 may be a simple varnish, a plastic sheath or even a non-magnetic metal sleeve with thin walls.
According to a variant, the holes 8 and 9 of the shunt 6, instead of being circular, can be shaped, as shown in dotted lines at 13 in the right part of FIG. 1. This elongated shape, better adapted, of the holes
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
shunt 6 enables the magnetic circuit of magnet 1 to be closed even more completely, whatever the position of anchor 10.
Although the device described and represented is more particularly intended for electric timepieces with a driving balance, it goes without saying that it also applies to mechanical timepieces with an escapement with an anchor.
