Process for manufacturing objects with abrasive surfaces, object obtained by this process, and device for implementing this process The invention relates to a process for manufacturing objects with abrasive surfaces, characterized in that a support polarized in an electrolytic bath of filler metal under an abrasive material distributor, the electrolysis is carried out and the object consisting of the abrasive material coated in the filler metal is detached from said polarized support.
The invention also comprises an object obtained by this method and a device for implementing this method.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of the device for carrying out the method.
Fig. 1 shows the device seen in longitudinal section; and fig. 2 shows it seen in plan. The apparatus consists of a tray 1, fig. 1 and 2, sealed, comprising a frame 2 on which is mounted a driving pulley 3, and a free pulley 4. This assembly is submerged. Pulley 3 is driven by a drive mechanism 5 with juxtaposed groove 5 A.
A stainless steel tape 6 connects the two pulleys and comprises a cathodic socket 7 formed by a flexible wire welded at one point and following its endless movement. At one end of the tape on the upper horizontal plane, opens a distributor duct 8 comprising a flow rate adjustment 9 arranged at the base of a hopper 10 containing an abrasive material 11, such as diamond powder. The surface of the tape not forming a support and in contact with the pulley is coated with a protective varnish. On the faces of the reservoir, the anodes 12, 13 are fixed, dipping below the level 14 of the electrolyte. A collecting tank 15 is disposed at a return end of the endless device.
The advantages and operation of this device can therefore be seen.
When the current is put into the bath 14 by the anodes 12, 13 and the cathode 7, the filler metal is deposited slowly on the metal strip 6 which moves according to the arrow A by the movement transmitted by the driving pulley 3 When the tape passes under the repairer 8, it is covered with a layer of abrasive powder, the thickness of which varies according to the setting of the distributor 9. The importance of this layer of abrasive is also a function of the speed of tape drive.
During the first part of the path located in the upper plane of the drive pulleys supporting the tape, the grains are distributed and receive the filler metal which stabilizes them. The excess quantities fall when the support takes the vertical position and are collected in the collecting tank 15.
During the lower return path, arrow B, the abrasive dust is already fixed and continues to receive the filler metal which performs the complete crimping, this coverage can be increased by letting the electrolysis take place for several turns. The duration of the operation varies according to the size of the grains.
It is also possible to add several layers of abrasive depending on the thickness of the object that is to be obtained. The different layers are interposed and form a texture without heterogeneous range of absolute regularity. At the end of the operation, the carrier tape 7 is removed and the abrasive tool is detached from it.
This backless abrasive tool then takes the form of an endless belt and can be used as a band saw. Its thickness is minimal and all of its surfaces are usable. However, before putting into use, the two faces are ground to release the abrasive which could have been superficially covered with filler metal.
Machine tool assemblies with these abrasive belts in their mass allow the execution of all work on all dimensions and in all planes.
It goes without saying that the carrier tape can receive insulating covers or stencils of various shapes on which the filler metal is not deposited by electrolysis. The abrasive tape detached from the carrier tape can be used to partially or completely coat substrates of any shape.
