Apparatus for making helical coils of wire from thermoplastic material
The invention relates to an apparatus for the production of very straight lines shaped wire windings made of thermoplastic. Material.
Apparatuses are already known in which a cylindrical rod is used around which the wire is wound, the wire being subjected by means of friction elements to such friction that the material becomes plastic and undergoes permanent deformation. Here, the wire is wound around the rotating rod or mandrel with closely adjacent turns, whereby the desired frictional pressure is exerted by means of three rods arranged at the same distances around the first-mentioned rod and rotating in opposite directions.
The desired pitch of the winding is then formed by means of a spring-loaded rod, which rests against the central rod at a certain distance from the ends of the three surrounding rotating rods and presses against the wire made of thermoplastic material.
The rotating central rod and the three surrounding rods are coupled to a drive mechanism by means of flexible shafts. This apparatus not only has a large number of parts exposed to wear, but the adjustment of the three surrounding bars requires great accuracy, especially when a wire with a different diameter and a corresponding pitch is to be wound.
The invention aims to remedy these drawbacks with a simple apparatus.
According to the invention, the rotating rod fits axially adjustable into a housing with a hollow cylindrical bore, on the inner wall of which a continuous, very dome-shaped groove is arranged.
With this measure, a wire winding with the desired diameter and the desired pitch can be produced immediately.
Since the diameter of the winding and the length of the pitch are normalized for certain wire thicknesses, a number of housings with adapted rods can be kept in stock for the apparatus according to this invention, which can be exchanged in the apparatus without difficulty.
The drawing shows some exemplary embodiments of the subject matter of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a vertical longitudinal section through the apparatus according to a first exemplary embodiment.
Fig. 2 shows a section along the line II-I1 in Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 shows a rear view according to the arrow P in Fig. 1.
Fig. 4 shows a vertical section through the housing of a second embodiment of the apparatus.
Fig. 5 shows a side view of Fig. 4, partially in vertical section.
In the exemplary embodiment according to FIGS. 1 to 3, a hollow sleeve 3 is rotatably mounted on a frame 1 on bearings 2, on which a multi-stage Seheibe 5 is fixed by means of screws 4. The bearings 2 can be replaced by ball bearings if necessary.
A cylindrical rod 6 is arranged coaxially to the rotating bush 3. The inner diameter of the sleeve 3 is dimensioned such that the storage of such a rod 6 is made possible, the diameter of which corresponds to the inner diameter of the largest possible turn to be generated. By means of a guide bushing 7 at one end of the biluse 3 and by means of a guide bearing 8 at the other end of the bushing 3, the rod 6 is axially movably supported in this bushing.
The bore 10 of a stationary housing 9 is located coaxially to the bush 3. On the side of the housing 9, the bush 3 is provided with a flange-like head 11 with an upstanding, annular edge 12, in which the guide bush 8 engages with a flange which by means of at least a screw 13 is attached to the head 11. The guide bush 8, the bore of which is the same as the diameter of the rod 6, is provided on its inner wall with an axially extending guide strip 14 which fits into a keyway 15 arranged on the rod 6 with little clearance. The guide bush 7 of the rod 6 at the front end of the bush 3 is attached to a locking ring 16 screwed tightly onto the bush 3.
The housing 9 is provided with a flange 17 with ears which are fastened to the frame 1 by means of screws or bolts 18. In the flange 17 a cylindrical cavity is cut out, into which the head 11 of the bush 3 with the guide bush 8 fastened in it fits. Behind the flange 17, a cavity 19 is cut out in the housing 9, which is used to introduce the wire to be processed. On the wall of the bore 1.0 of the housing 9, which has the same diameter as the rod 6, a helically running groove 20 is arranged such that the direction of the wire winding to be formed thereby corresponds to the direction of rotation of the sleeve 3.
The depth of the groove 20 is equal to or slightly smaller than the diameter of the wire belonging to the caliber of the winding. At the rear end of the housing 9, the upper housing part is omitted to approximately below a horizontal plane which contains the bore axis, so that an extension 21 of the housing is formed, in which the RiRe 20 continues. Around this extension 21, the outer wall of which is cylindrical, a belt pulley 22 with collar 23 is arranged with clearance, which is held in place by means of a pressure piece 24 attached to the frame 1.
On the rod 6, which is so long that when a head 25 that is firmly seated on one end of the rod rests against the guide bushing 7, the other end of the rod extends to the end of the extension 21, a bore 26 is made in the front end, through which the wire to be produced is passed.
The belt pulley 22 is made to rotate by means of a belt 30 running over rollers 27, a tension roller 28 and a drive pulley 29 (FIG. 2).
Behind the housing with the extension 21 are adjustable on the frame 1 by means of arms 36 and rods 37, two cylinder rollers 31, 32 rotatably arranged around their axes and rotatable by means of a belt 33 over the disc 34 and a tensioning roller 35 such that they are in the same direction like turning the Büclise 3.
The cylinders 31 and 32 run parallel to the longitudinal direction of the housing bore 10 on both sides of the vertical plane of symmetry through the housing 9, and the height position of the cylinders 31 and 32 is set in such a way that the wire winding 39 produced in and on the V-shaped space that passes through the is formed on the upper surfaces of the cylinders 31, 32 comes to lie, as shown in Figs.
The device described works as follows:
When the sleeve 3 is stationary, the thermoplastic wire to be wound is lifted through the bore 26 in the rod 6, which bore is located in the region of the recess 19 in the housing 9, so that it protrudes a little at the end of the rod in question. By pushing the rod forward by hand and rotating it if necessary, this protruding end of the wire is inserted into the groove 20.
By rotating the rod 6 further and also letting the wire shoot, the wire is drawn through the groove 20 to form a very helical turn, the rod 6 being drawn through the bore 10 of the housing 9 at the same time.
At the end of the housing 9 or the extension 21, the wire end protruding through the bore 26 hel is cut off, the machine is switched on and the sleeve 3 with the pulley 5 arranged on this is rotated. The guide bushing 8 is carried along by the bushing 3 and, by engaging the wedge 14 in the keyway 15 of the rod 6, also causes the latter to rotate, the head 25 resting against the guide bushing 7.
Since the wire has the same or a little larger diameter as the depth of the groove 20, friction is exerted on the wire, whereby the wire is warm and pla stical.
The belt pulley 22, which is supported on the upper part of the winding, also exerts friction on this winding through its rotating movement. This has the advantage that if the wire has an insufficient diameter to generate sufficient friction in the housing 9, the necessary friction is exerted on the wire thread part located in the extension 21, so that the wire in any case becomes plastic and can take on the shape of the groove without internal tension.
The warm, plastic wire. After leaving the extension 21, 39 is taken up by the cylinders 31, 32, as shown in FIG. 3, where the wire winding is continued without resistance and, in the meantime, can cool down so that it retains its final shape.
The housing 9 can be provided with heating elements 38.
In the modified embodiment according to FIGS. 4 and 5, the housing 9 has the shape of a hollow cylinder with a bore 10 in which a helical metal turn 40 rests against the wall. In this turn, the rod or mandrel 6 is axially movable and rotatable axially to the bore 10,
The outside diameter of the rod 6 is the same as the inside diameter of the turn 40.
The metal coil is. made of a metal strip of rectangular cross-section, the height of which is the same or almost the same as the thickness of the wire to be processed, while the width of the pitch of the turn to be formed is the same, reduced by the wire thickness. The pitch of the helical, linear metal turn 40 is the same as that of the turn to be formed, so that there is just enough space for the thermoplastic wire between two successive turns of the metal turn.
The wall of the housing 9 is provided with a continuous, radial slot 41 over the entire length. To the housing 9 tightly around the meta. To be able to clamp the winding 40, there is a clamping sleeve 42 around the housing, which is also fitted on one side. lten is clamped with the aid of screws 43 which are mounted in recesses 44. When the clamping sleeve is removed, the housing 9 loses its tension around the screw turn 40 and the latter can easily be removed from the housing, e.g. B. for cleaning adhering wire residues.
In order to prevent the metal winding 40 from rotating with the mandrel 6 under the influence of the friction of the thermoplastic wire, two or more cams can be welded onto the outer circumference of the winding 40, which can be clamped into the slot 41.
From the housing 9, the upper half is again removed from the right part 21. However, the metal winding 40 continues in this part. In Fig. 5 of the drawing, the thermoplastic winding 39 is shown in this part. If this material is not sufficiently plastic under certain circumstances, this can be brought about by a rotating friction disc 45 which is attached to a shaft 46 which can be rotated in a housing 49 which is adjustable in the direction of the arrow by means of a pulley 48 driven by a rope , on the wire turn 39 lowers.
According to FIGS. 4 and 5, the wire to be processed is guided into the metal winding 40 on the left side by means of the rod 6 and twisted through by hand until the end comes out at the front of the housing. Here, the rod 6 has completed an axial movement through the housing. The motor is then switched on, which makes the rod 6 rotate; this then guides the wire through the groove between the metal winding 40, the wire becoming plastic as a result of the friction, with the friction disk 45 still being able to be switched on if the plasticity is insufficient.
If necessary, the wire can be cooled afterwards on the cylinders 31, 32 as shown in Figs. 1 and 3, or cold air can be blown onto it.
A binding device for binding loose sheets of paper can be switched on immediately behind the apparatus described.
