Fig. 2).
Electric starter for internal combustion engines or the like. The invention relates to an electric starter for internal combustion engines and the like and has the purpose of creating a particularly two-dimensional design of such a starter which has a pinion which is longitudinally adjustable for engagement with a gearwheel of the machine .
This is based on an electric starter, in which on the drive shaft a force under the action of electronic diagnostics occurs:
sliding pinion for meshing with a gear of the machine to be started is provided. According to the invention, the arrangement is such that the pinion sits on a sleeve that is axially displaceable on the drive shaft of the starter and connected to it by a steep screw thread.
which is axially displaced by a movable iron core of a magnetic coil that surrounds the sleeve, and that the iron core actuates a number of switches to control the power supply to the starter motor.
The starter preferably has a holder arranged within the housing of the starter motor, which is closed at the end of the axial movement of the pinion generated by the magnet cradle and thus reduces the starter motor to a voltage compared to the normal voltage.
as well as a further holder inside the starter motor, which only applies full voltage to the starter motor when the pinion has been brought into the end position by the slow rotation of the starter motor, in which the pinion with the on the shaft of the internal combustion engine seated gear is fully engaged ..
The drawing shows an exemplary embodiment of the subject matter of the invention, namely, FIG. 1 shows a longitudinal section through the starter in the rest position, FIG. 2 shows part of FIG. 1 with the starter turned on.
On the extended drive shaft aa of the starter is a non-magnetic 3, letall made, axially displaceable and loaded by a spring c sleeve b is mounted. The front end of the sleeve is formed as a pinion or carries a pinion d for a handle in a gear d 'of the machine, not shown. The drive shaft a. and the sleeve 7) are connected to one another by a coarse thread e, which engages in an obliquely extending groove arranged on the other part.
The sleeve b is encompassed by an axially displaceable hollow cylindrical iron part f, which represents the core of a solenoid, the annular winding g of which sits in one end of the starter housing h in the vicinity of one end of the coil core.
So that the sleeve h and the iron core f can move together a short axial distance, the sleeve b has an annular shoulder i, which is supported against a corresponding shoulder on the iron core f. On the one. The end of the coil g lies in the housing h. an annular disk j made of insulating material, which carries a pair of fixed contacts h: and m as parts of two switches.
The movable contacts n and o of the two holders sit on an annular and tiltable disk 1i which surrounds the core f and is loaded on both sides by springs q and r . The disc p is kept in a certain position by a pivotable locking device s, for the release of which a release ring t is arranged at the inner end of the sleeve b. In the example shown, the locking device consists of a pawl s pivoted in i4 and loaded by a spring a.
The pawl s carries a nose iv which reaches through a slot in a tongue p 'which is bent in the area of the pawl s from the circumference of the disk p in the axial direction. The nose ic @ has a shoulder x which you see against a connecting web n ″ at the end of the slot in the tongue and so that the disk p can hold in the position shown.
The locking device is triggered by pushing the release ring t against the nose it, the latch s. ) Continuing is.
on the sleeve b a loaded by a spring 3 sliding sleeve 2 arranged, which serves to push a locking ball 4 into a recess 5 on the drive shaft a, so that the sleeve b and the drive shaft are firmly connected to each other when the R.itzel d has come into engagement with the machine, whereby an unintentional return movement of the sleeve b into its starting position is prevented before the machine has started properly.
The displacement of the sliding sleeve 2 on the sleeve d is limited by a shoulder 6 on the iron core f.
The device works as follows: If a circuit containing the coil d is closed by a switch operated by hand zri, the iron core f is attracted by the action of the solenoid g and shifted in the axial direction.
During this displacement of the iron core f, it takes the sleeve b with it and brings it into a position in which the sleeve b is advanced so far that the R-itzel (l arranged on it) is partially connected to the gear wheel d 'of the machine in Intervention is coming.
The axial displacement of the iron core f and thus also that of the sleeve b is limited by the fact that the iron core f, with its end face facing the pinion d, bends against an annular shoulder 7 in the starter housing. While. this sliding movement of the iron core f and the sleeve b, the upper part of the disc p is held by the web p "of the horizontally bent tongue p, which extends behind the shoulder x of the nose ii.
However, the displacement movement of the iron core f has the consequence that the spring r is tensioned, as a result of which the disk p is tilted and the contacts ni and o are closed. 1Thus, an electric current can flow from the battery or another voltage source to the starter motor, the voltage of which, however, is reduced by a resistor.
The slow rotation of the drive shaft a, corresponding to this reduced voltage, of the starter causes the helical thread e or the corresponding connection between the drive shaft a and the sleeve b to bring the pinion cl to a complete engagement with the gear wheel d 'of the machine.
Immediately before the pinion (l has come to full engagement with the gear wheel d ', the release ring t fastened to the end of the sleeve 1) lifts the vase ir the pawl s, whereby the Steg 1) 'out of interference with the paragraph:
r the nose ic comes, so that now also the upper part of the disk p under the pressure of the spring -r the contact pair k and n can close (see. Fig. 2). As a result, the resistor previously in the starter motor circuit is short-circuited and the full voltage is applied to the starter motor. This can now run at full speed and start the machine in the desired manner.
In the one shown in Fig. The position of the sleeve b shown in the figure, in which the sprocket d is in engagement with the gear wheel d ', the sleeve has been raised so far relative to the drive shaft a that the hail of barriers i in in the drive shaft a. The front recess 5 slides in and thus rotatably connects the sleeve b to the drive shaft a.
By sliding the locking ball 4 into the recess 5, the sliding sleeve under the action of the spring 3? vorrutsehen against the sleeve b so that the locking ball 4 can no longer emerge from the recess 5. If the machine has started properly, the bobbin holder is opened again and the circuit feeding the coil fi is interrupted.
The consequence of this is that the iron core f, as a result of the action of the springs I and r, returns to its rest position, whereby it initially pushes the sliding sleeve 2 against the action of the spring 3 so far. takes with it that the locking ball 4 can emerge from the recess 5.
With. when the locking ball comes out of the recess, but also the locking between the sleeve b and the drive shaft a. canceled. Since in this phase the gear wheel d 'drives the pinion d,
returns the sleeve b as a result of the screw connection between her and the drive shaft a. back to their original position.
At the same time as you move the iron core f into its rest position, the disk p is also pushed back into its rest position, so that the contacts gii. and o and k. and ri, see detach from each other and the current driving the starter motor is interrupted.
After the Seheibe p has returned to the starting position, aueli then engages again, since the trigger has also been lifted back into its starting position, the web behind the attachment x of the nose i ;, on the latch s. In the arrangement described, the starting process is carried out by a preparatory slow movement of the starter under the action of a reduced voltage.
In some cases such a preparatory movement is unnecessary and the starting process can be effected by immediately turning on full voltage. In this case, the device described above is modified in such a way that the pawl s and the release ring t are omitted and contacts are attached to the disc, j, which can be bridged by the locking disc p.
