Powder distribution hopper
The present invention relates to a powder dispensing hopper, the lower part of which forms a funnel.
This hopper is characterized by the fact that this funnel is made of rubber, its tube passing through a ring mounted on a fixed part and dividing it into two sections while exerting traction on the upper section, the latter being subjected to the action of 'a vibrator communicating to it transverse vibrations of constant amplitude, while the lower section is subjected to the action of a second vibrator communicating to it transverse vibrations of adjustable amplitude.
The appended drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of the hopper forming the subject of the invention, shown in longitudinal section from top to bottom.
The upper part 1 of the hopper rests on a casing 2, the upper edges of a rubber funnel 3 constituting the lower part of this hopper forming a tight seal between said hopper and said casing 2. The tube 4 of the funnel in rubber passes through a ring 5 fixedly mounted on one of the walls of the casing 2 and divides said tube 4 into an upper section 4 'and a lower section 4 "while exerting traction on said section 4'. The latter is subjected to the action of an electric vibrator 6 which communicates to it transverse vibrations of constant amplitude while the section 4 "is subjected to the action of a second vibrator 7 communicating to it transverse vibrations of adjustable amplitude; this vibrator.
7 actuates said section 4 "of tube 4 by means of a part with a bottom perforated with small orifices 8 fixed to its lower end. Said vibrator 7 is connected to a vibration adjustment device 9 placed outside the casing 2.
Both funnel 3 and tube 4 are made of natural or synthetic rubber. flexible so as to vibrate under the action of the constant amplitude vibrator 6 which ensures a regular flow towards the part 8 of powder coming from the upper part 1 of the hopper and so as to allow the latter part 8 to vibrate under the action of the vibrator 7. This hopper can be applied to the distribution of a constant and adjustable quantity of powder on a synthetic corundum crystal arranged under said hopper in an oxyhydrogen flame furnace.
In this application, an opening 10 is made in a wall of the casing, itself sealed, so as to allow the introduction of oxygen under pressure, this oxygen thus mixing intimately with the finely divided particles of powder passing through the bottom of the part 8. before they come into contact with the synthetic corundum crystal in formation.
