Description
Synthetic Bearing Block for Precision Mechanical Devices The invention relates to a synthetic bearing block. for precision mechanical devices.
It is known that white bearing stones made of pure corundum have advantages over red-colored stones called rubis with regard to their properties and thus also with regard to their suitability as a bearing material. These advantages are particularly effective at relatively high bearing pressures such. B. in electrical meters, where practically only white corundum stones are used.
In the case of clocks, however, red-colored stones, so-called rubis, are preferably used, mainly for decorative reasons. As a storage material, however, the pure white corundum would have fundamentally better properties.
The present invention relates to a synthetic bearing stone for the purposes mentioned, which is characterized in that it has two zones, one of which, the inner bearing zone, made of pure white corundum and the other, the outer zone, of red-colored corundum (Ruby) consists ...
The method according to the invention for producing the synthetic bearing block consists. in that the chromium oxide is removed by diffusion through local thermal treatment of the stone!
The removal of the chromium oxide, i.e. the production of the white bearing zone in a red-colored bearing stone (ruby), can be carried out in various ways. Thus, the pure corundum zone can be heated by means of a heating wire introduced into the stone hole, eg. B. made of tungsten or tantalum, success gene, or the thermal treatment of the stone hole can be carried out by the kinetic energy of an electron beam.
Finally, starting from an originally drilled, red-colored bearing stone, when drilling this bearing hole through a. This electron beam is controlled in such a way that the bearing hole and the white inner bearing zone are made from pure corundum at the same time.
A device according to Swiss patent no. 309700 can expediently be used for the electron beam used to drill the bearing hole and the white bearing zone.
