The present invention relates to a clockwork movement, for example to a wristwatch movement, characterized by a toothed crown housed in a recess in the frame of the movement, with a number of teeth double the number of teeth of the cannon wheel which controls it, said crown actuating at least one additional mechanism.
Thanks to this invention, it is possible to produce, for example, a movement of my tre-bracelet to which is added a simple window date mechanism, without increasing the height of the watch movement. It is also possible to add a universal time mechanism to the wristwatch movement in question without modifying the height of the caliber. In addition, it is even possible to incorporate the two mechanisms simultaneously on a movement which already includes a power reserve indicator, and this by only increasing the thickness of a usual dial by a third.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, two embodiments of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a sectional view along the line A-A 'of FIG. 3; fig. 2, a section along line B-B 'of the plan view of fi-. 3; fig. 3 is a plan view of the first embodiment; fig. 4 is a section taken along line A-A 'of the plan view of FIG. 6; and fig. 5 is a section taken along line B-B 'of the same FIG. 6; fig. 6 is a plan view of the second embodiment.
In these figures, 1 represents the plate, 2 the dial with feet fixed to the movement, 3 a toothed crown with a number of teeth double the number of teeth of the cannon wheel 4.
The operation of the mechanisms shown in fig. 3 is as follows The cannon wheel 4 drives a toothed crown 3 embedded in a recess of the plate 1. This crown 3 drives, on the one hand, the universal time mechanism and, on the other hand, the date mechanism single needle. The latter is composed of a wheel 5 with thirty-one pointed teeth, pivoting at the center of the movement, and carrying the hand 6 indicating the date. The wheel 5 advances by one tooth at each turn of the crown 3 under the effect of the finger 7 secured to the crown 3.
A spring-jumper 8, entering the teeth of the wheel 5, prevents unwanted movements of the latter. The toothed ring 3 transmits on the other hand a continuous rotational movement to the pinion 9 frictionally adjusted on the barrel of the wheel 10 driving the pinion 11 acting on the ring 12 of which is integral the annular casing 13 bearing the indications of the spindles hours. A pawl 14, supported by the spring 15, prevents the wheel 10 from turning counterclockwise, so that setting the time is possible without disturbing the time zone dial 13.
Screws 16 with a truncated head ensure that the crown 12 is held in place by fitting freely in a groove 17 made on the internal perimeter of the crown 12. Recesses made in the dial 2 allow the wheel 5 and the jumper to be accommodated. 8, so that practically there is no increase in the height of the movement.
In fig. 6, crown 3 drives a single window date and a universal time mechanism. In this example, all the teeth of the crown 3 are partly truncated, except one actuating the crown 51 with 31 internal teeth at each turn. A hole 61, made in the dial 2, allows the reading of the figures transferred from the crown 51. A jumper 71 supported by the spring 81 ensures the positions of the crown 51.
A toothed ring 91, fitted in friction on the toothed ring 3, meshes with a mo bile 101 pivoting on the cannon wheel 4, said mobile 101 having the same number of teeth as the toothed ring 91. A rotary dial 111, integral with the mobile 101, performs one revolution in 24 hours and bears indications designating the time zones. A pawl 121, supported by a spring 131, prevents the rotational movement of the dial 111 in the opposite direction to the watch hands, so that it is possible to set the time without disturbing the dial 111. As in the previous example, the height of the movement is hardly modified since only the thickness of the casing undergoes an increase of approximately one third.
A power reserve indicator is incorporated in each of the two examples described above on the bridge side. In these cases, the axis of the last mobile of the power reserve indicator passes through the barrel shaft and carries the hand designating the power reserve. The center of the barrel is placed on an axis perpendicular to the axis passing through the winding stem and the center of the movement.
