Device for automatic adjustment of the upstream flow according to the level in a liquid tank with upstream supply and downstream consumption. The large water conduits operating by gravity include breakage chambers staggered along the pipe to limit the pressure in each section between them consecutive rupture chambers at the difference in level between these two chambers. The installation must include in each chamber a device for adjusting the flow rate, so as to achieve equality between the flow rate. upstream and downstream flow.
This regulating device, in order to be satisfied, must operate smoothly, the degree of opening of the valve providing instantaneous supply to the reservoir constantly equal to the instantaneous flow rate discharged by this reservoir downstream.
To obtain this correct operation, it is obviously necessary, on the one hand, for the movement of the organs in relation to the level to be transmitted faithfully by the absence of harmful friction and, on the other hand , that any slight variation in the degree of opening of the valve results in a corresponding slight variation in the feed rate of the chamber.
These conditions are not fulfilled in the known devices. They use either balanced valves which can be subject to seizing due to the small clearances between fixed and moving parts, or an auxiliary device which almost completely balances the thrust exerted by the feed water on the valve, the residual thrust being absorbed by a float. The variation of this ideal r <B> '</B> thrust entails that of the duration of immersion es <B> M </B> of the latter.
In either case, the magnitude of the friction of the valve itself or of the various articulations and on all the irregularities of this friction, in particular very variable between start and stop, tend to make these devices oscillating.
The object of the present invention is a device for automatic adjustment of the upstream flow as a function of the level in a liquid tank with upstream supply and downstream consumption, particularly suitable for rupture chambers for water pipes by gravity and not having not the above-mentioned drawbacks of known devices.
According to the invention, this automatic adjustment device is characterized in that it comprises a bell of height substantially equal to that of the adjacent tank with which it communicates, and a tulip valve placed in the upstream orifice of the tank and provided organs adjusting its position so as to balance the. thrust exerted by the upstream water flow by the weight of the water contained in said bell.
The tulip valve can be constituted by a movable element of solid shape and fixed to the lower end of the aforementioned rod and a fixed element, of annular shape and fixed to the bottom of the tank around the inlet orifice and these two elements can be limited by surfaces of revolution around the bottom of the tank 2 on the end of the cylindrical liquid inlet pipe 1 and the other element 10, solid, being fixed to the lower end of the rod 8.
These two elements 3, 10 are limited by surfaces of revolution around the axis of the rod 8 which are designed so that the lifting of the rod 8 produces a progressive increase in the section of the annular passage between these two parts and by following the intake flow. On uprights 19, fixed to the bottom of the tank 2, on either side of the part 3, are mounted rigidly around the rod 8, on the one hand, a sleeve 18 serving. from guide to. lower part of this rod and, on the other hand, a frustoconical deflector 20 which rises slightly towards its periphery and prevents the formation of eddies in the bottom of the tank when the inlet flow rate is high.
of the axis of the rod and produce during the rise of the rod, a significant increase in the section of the annular passage between these two surfaces.
An embodiment of the invention will be described below, by way of example, with reference to the drawing, in which FIG. 1 is a schematic vertical section of the device and FIG. 2 a detail view of the valve in section, on a larger scale.
A pipe 1 coming from upstream of the mouth in the bottom of a tank 2 by a metal part in the form of a revolving body 3. On a masonry support 4 is articulated in a 5, lever 6 to which is linked by a connecting rod 7 a rod 8 sliding vertically in centers 9, 9 fixed to the support 4. To the lower part of the rod 8 is fixed a metal part 10 in the form of a body of revolution having a meridian line adapted to the meridian line of part 3 to form therewith a tulip valve.
At one of the ends of the lever 6 is fixed a counterweight 11 and at the opposite end is suspended by a cable 12 a bell 13 communicating with the interior of the tank by a flexible pipe 14. A rod 15 connects a point, of the lever 6 at the end of the piston rod 16 of a dash-pot 17.
The water from the reservoir fills the bell via the flexible pipe 14 to the same level as that of the reservoir and the weight of this bell thus filled therefore increases with the raising of this level. Any raising of this level is therefore accompanied by a movement of the lever 6 in the direction of the arrow k 'and the. rod 8 in the direction of arrow f, which has the effect of bringing the part 10 closer to the part 3, and, consequently, to increase the pressure drop in the supply to the tank. The dash-pot 17, moreover not essential, regulates the movements of the lever 6 and, consequently, those of the part 10 of the tulip valve.
This tulip valve is formed by two elements having surfaces of revolution relative to the axis of the rod 8, one of these elements, of annular shape, being fixed to the
