Method for the optical compensation of the movement of the continuously passing film, in particular in devices for television transmission of films, and device for carrying out the method. The television transmission of films poses different problems because of the different standardization - of frame rate and dark pause in film and television. Common solutions, which are not entirely satisfactory, are based on the use of storage camera tubes or the showing of the films with '25 frames per second with rigid 'synchronization to the television pulses and twice scanning of each image in a double lens.
The latter solution, however, fails with the American television standard of 60 half-raster per second or the silent film standard of 16 frames per second. For these and other reasons, film projectors with optical compensation of the film movement are used again today for television scanning, have no dark pause and were developed by Mechau to high reproduction quality before 1928.
When using such projectors, the speed of the film sequence is completely independent of the television scanning speed. More recent designs of such projectors are based, like the solution from Mechau, on an arrangement of rotating mirrors, with additional, as a correction possibility for certain deficiencies in the optical system, certain optical properties of this system continuously by a small amount with the aid of electronic servo controls Amount can be adjusted.
Since the construction of servo controls is part of the general art today, and since additional devices of this type can be used in all scanning processes, the possible addition of a servo control to the process of the present invention is no longer mentioned in the following.
The object of the present inven tion is a method for optical off equal to the movement of the continuously running film, in particular in devices for television transmission of films, and a device for carrying out the method.
The device according to the invention it allows a much simpler structure compared to the projector from Mechau and the other known solutions and a better quality of the optical image.
The method according to the invention for optically compensating for the movement of the film can be combined with various types of television scanning. For example, when operating with a luminous point scanner, the reference plane on which the film is to be imaged is the screen of the luminous point tube; When projecting onto a camera tube, this reference plane is the photocathode of the camera tube.
The method is characterized in that two optical systems are present, each of which images a film image individually on the reference plane, and that the optical axes of these two imaging systems are individually moved for the purpose of compensating for the film movement in such a way that the optical axes alternate Axis of one system moves in the sense of the film advance direction i and thus images a certain film image as apparently stationary, while the optical axis of the other system moves back from the previous to the next film image against the film advance direction, and that system whose optical axis respectively executes the movement described in the second position, is faded out.
The inventive device for performing this method is characterized in that the optical image between the film and the reference plane is conveyed by two side by side, as possible similar lenses, which are independently of one another, parallel to the film advance direction and are built optically so that When moving, the main points of both lenses move on the same parallel to the film advance direction.
An embodiment of this Vorrich device is shown in the accompanying drawing represents. Here, 1 is the film to be broadcast and 2 is the relevant reference level for television broadcasting. These two are mapped onto each other both through the objective 3 and through the lens of the same type 1. In this case, these two lenses are two halves of a normal symmetrical lens.
Both are, independently of each other, parallel to the film direction slidable -Lind mounted in such a way that the main points of both lenses move on the same parallels to the film direction. -5 is a two-part, reciprocating diaphragm; @ 6 are the cam disks which move the objectives 3 and 4, 7 a condenser lens and 8 a photocathode. Each point of the reference plane 2 becomes like this because of the arrangement described by each of the two objectives 3 and 4. mapped onto the film 1 that the image points of the lens 3 are displaced in relation to those of the lens 1 in the film direction.
A drive 6 coupled to the film feed moves the two lenses 3 and 1 parallel to the film advance direction in such a way that one of the lenses 31 and 1 moves in the same way as the film and thus a certain film frame remains stationary despite the moving film images on the reference plane 2, while the other lens moves against the Filmvorsehubriehtung in that position back that corresponds to the image de, the next film image.
The lens that executes the movement mentioned at the second point is masked out by the diaphragm 5. Since this backward movement against the film is a little faster than the movement with the film, there is a certain amount of time each time the function of the two lenses changes, while the two successive film images are imaged stationary at the same point on the reference plane 2. During this time they are faded into one another by the aperture 5 with constant overall brightness of the image. This brightness constant is enforced by the fact that the parts of the diaphragm: 5 are moved independently of one another according to suitable programs.
In the illustrated embodiment, the Fernsehabtast.ung takes place according to the principle of the Leuehtpunktabtasters. The reference level 2 is here the fluorescent screen of the cathode ray tube, which generates the light point used as a light source. This luminous point moves you across the screen and writes a television grid. According to the above, it is sharply imaged on at least one film image. The light that passes through the film falls beyond the capacitor 7 onto the photocathode B.
The amount of light is a measure of the visual blackening of that point on the film image which corresponds to the position of the luminous point within the far-sighted grid at the relevant time. The emission current of the photo cathode thus directly represents the television signal.
Of course, the method described can be carried out in many other ways. For example, the production of two optical systems with the required properties specified in the exemplary embodiment described can be replaced by using two halves of a symmetrical lens, firstly by using whole lenses and a laterally evasive return path, secondly by scanning not directly successive film images, or thirdly, by using mirrors or prisms which divide the opening of a normal lens into two parts and which also allow the optical axes to be moved according to the method described.
In all of these solutions, the pendulum back and forth, characteristic of the invention, of the image between two optical imaging systems that is effective for the transmission remains.
Likewise, when using two separate photo cathodes, the fading out and fading over can be carried out electrically instead of with a mechanically moving diaphragm 5.
Since only the relative movement between the film and the optical axis is decisive for the stationary image of the film image, it is not necessary to move the film uniformly, that is to say with the speed remaining exactly constant.
The application of the method according to the invention is of course not limited to television scanning. There are still many applications conceivable where projection without a dark break offers advantages.
